  4. 4. Lesson Procedure <ul><li>Divide students into groups of three. Based on typical accounting enrollment numbers, I will probably have 15 groups of three. </li></ul><ul><li>Assign each group an “accounting mentor,” a Dodgeville High School alumni currently working in an accounting-related field. </li></ul><ul><li>Assign each group the financial analysis of a corporation traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Occasionally I will look up the list of the WORST performing corporations and have the students analyze those companies. </li></ul>

Lesson Procedure <ul><ul><li>Using Google Docs spreadsheet program: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>One student is assigned the horizontal analysis of their corporation’s financial statements </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>One student is assigned the vertical analysis of their corporation’s financial statements </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>One student is assigned the calculation of their corporation’s financial ratios </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Spreadsheets will be shared with accounting mentors for critiquing. </li></ul></ul>
