Presentation And Background Of Macintosh Inc
Presentation and Background
Macintosh, Inc is an understood name in the PC innovation world; Apple, Inc drives the PC business in development on account of the grant winning
desktop and scratch pad PC known as OS X working framework (Yoffie and Slind, 2008). This paper will concentrate on Apple Inc., key administration
and why is it basic to the achievement of the association in meeting its objectives and mission. It is along these lines imperative to characterize key
administration, as indicated by Certo, Peter and Ottensmeyer, (2005), vital administration is a consistent procedure that guides an association to be
properly suited to its interior and outside environment. Vital administration advantages associations by giving staff, capital, sets guidelines and in
particular initiates individuals. For an association to have an effective vital administration arrange, the troughs must figure out how to think deliberately
and can assess their surroundings and grow new thoughts. Steve Jobs one of the establishing fathers of Apple Inc utilized vital wanting further
bolstering his good fortune by making Apple 's central goal a straightforward one–conveying simple to utilize PCs to the general business sector,
upsetting the PC market.
In 2007, following thirty years, the association changed its name from Apple Computer to Apple Inc., this was a huge move in light of the fact that the
association turned out to be more free, and it was no more known as a merchant to Macintosh PC

Steve Jobs Accomplishments
Can you imagine what it would be like to live in a world without the ability to own a personal computer, an iPod, iPad, iPhone or iTunes? Thirty–nine
years ago none of these devices were available for purchase because they had not yet been invented. If it wasn't for Steve Jobs these devices as we
know them today may not exist. Because of Steve Jobs people all around the world now own or have access to one if not all of these devices. Steve
Jobs died on Oct. 5, 2011 at age 56 from pancreatic cancer (Gambino, 2011).

Working from Job's garage, the two men designed, developed, built, marketed and sold the first ever personal computers the Apple I.
"1976 Jobs pre–sold 50 of the as–yet unmade computers to a local store and managed to buy the components on credit solely on the strength of the
order enabling them to build the Apple I without any funding at all" (Puri, n.d.). It was later in 1977 that the Apple II was released. "This computer was
the cutting edge of technology at the time, introducing the first operating system with color graphics" (Richardson, n.d.). In the late 1980s the Apple
Macintosh computer was released. Allison considers the Macintosh to be the most significant. "The Macintosh really introduced the graphic–user
interface to the world" (Gambino, 2011).
In January 9, 2001 Apple introduced iTunes, and later that year on Oct 21 2001, Apple introduced the firstiPod. (Apple Introduces iTunes, n.d.)Steve

Super Bowl Commercials
Although there were numerous memorable Super Bowl advertisements throughout the years, one of the most interesting commercials that aired
consisted of an Apple commercial with the release of its first Macintosh. This iconic commercial first aired in 1984 where it emulated the concept of
the '1984' book written by George Orwell where everyone was a conformist and viewed under the watchful eyes of Big Brother. In the commercial,
everyone is following protocol while wearing monotone gray jumpsuits with the same hairstyle. On the other hand, there is a fit–looking woman who is
running away from the guards while holding onto a hammer. It appears as if the woman is running towards where the rest of the men are, who are all
sitting down while watching a dominating figure on the large screen. The man on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Around that time, most of the computers were PC while Apple was still relatively new so whenever they aired their commercial, they were basically
the 'new' and innovative company that would bring in a new way to utilize the computer. In terms of the advertisement, Apple was represented by the
fit–looking woman who stood out amongst the mundane men. The fact that Apple launched an advertisement for their new product in 1984 while at
the same time emulating the conformity of society as it was described in the book '1984' was genius. Nowadays, the advertisements simply
demonstrate as to why their products are more superior than other similar brands or target groups of people based off their insecurities. Even though it
does not seem apparent that it was an Apple commercial at first, they are able to make the audience excited about their soon–to–be released product
because it appeared as an innovate product as opposed to the rest of the current

The iMac: An Apple innovation
Apple was definitely "thinking different" when it created the new addition to the Macintosh family, the iMac. It's creative design and refreshing
departure from the computer industry standard of boring beige boxes is gaining this marvel many optimistic reviews. This new personal computer,
which is pronounced eye–Mac –the "i" stands for Internet, combines the computer and the monitor in one unit making it, in effect, an updated version

Over time, that extra pressure could increase the risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome, a disease marked by pain in the wrist and small muscles
of the hand. The vitreous nature of the plastic on the iMac allows the user a blurry view of the internal components of the computer, which are
arranged in most computers are neatly as a child's bedroom. The translucency of the iMac forced Apple to tidy up the components, making seams,
welds and circuit boards more appealing. The idea that the see–trough plastic used in the iMac is fragile is quite deceiving. In fact, Apple used a
polycarbonate composite that is also used to make bulletproof glass. "It's the toughest computer we've ever built," says Tom Bogar, the iMac product
manager.
The iMac works different:
The iMac acts different from most computers. Like all current Macintoshes, it uses the Mac OS 8.1 operating system software, which is incompatible
with more than 90 percent of all other computers. The Mac OS still sets the standard for ease of use and innovation, and it is arguably a superior
choice for the consumer and education audience that Apple hopes to impress with the iMac. Apple is confident that the iMac will stop these people
from switching to the Windows operating system, but others are less certain that the iMac will be sufficient to win users back from Windows. The
iMac has a modest hard disk drive (four gigabytes, half the capacity of many new computers), but it lacks a built–in floppy disk

Super Bowl Advertising Analysis
On December 31, 1983, Apple premiered what was possibly one of the biggest commercials of all time. It was an introduction to the original
Macintosh. It opens with people marching to a large gray hall. In this hall, there is a large screen with a man, who is commanding these people.
However, a woman comes running down the hall with a hammer. She flings the hammer at the screen and it explodes. A block of text appears over the
aftermath. It reads: "On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like '1984.'" The commercial ends
with the rainbow Apple logo. It was directed by Ridley Scott and conceived by the agency, ChiatDay. The ad was elegant, elaborate and especially
cinematic. It represented a milestone not only in Super Bowl ads, but how commercials would be made since then.
Apple's 1984 takes on two meaning, one representing our humanity and another representing our relationship to computers (at the time). Humanity
should not conform to societal norms. However in this case, man is completely identical to each other and are flocking like sheeps. Furthermore, the

This includes various companies like Commodore, Apple, and especially IBM. The competitiveness within the industry was growing. Equally
important, the relationship between the computer and its users was more important than ever before. Apple essentially wanted to emphasize this in
the commercial. We, the consumers were the brainwashed people and the tyrant was IBM. IBM had a monopoly in the industry. In fact, the colors
perfectly symbolise this. The world is blue, just like IBM's logo. Meanwhile, the woman is colorful, like Apple's older logo. It shows them what the
future would be like IBM had no competition. IBM is portrayed as forcing people to using its' product, with no regard for the customers' wants and
needs. The Macintosh reassured that anyone can have Apple's

PC Versus Macintosh
Thesis: Console gamers need to understand the over rated outlook of the Macintosh and should invest more of their equipment in PC content. These
gamers should use PC instead of Macintosh computers. The lack of gaming capability/availability and user–friendly creativity, high prices, repair
capability, more possibilities of cybercrime, and overly gaudy appearance of the Mac are all facts that are never acknowledged by companies and
gamers when referring to the Mac as a "gaming" console.

Why You Should Buy An Apple Macintosh Computer Essay
Do you own a computer? What kind of computer is it? Is it a Microsoft PC, running Windows Vista? Or is it an Apple Macintosh running Mac OS X?
Using a PC can be such a hassle. Macintosh computers are so much better and easier to use than a PC. Macs also are better for the planet, have a
longer lifespan, have more reliable hardware, are less likely to crash or get viruses, have better security features, it's very easy to transfer all your files
from a PC to a Mac, and a Mac can be a PC if you really wanted it too. But I will explain that last one later. First, I will tell you about how the build of
the Macintosh computer is a big reason of the rapid growth of Macs. In 2007, 2008, and 2009, Apple's Macbook, Macbook Pro, and I–Mac (their ...

A recent study by the magazine "PC Advisor," stated that a Mac owner who uses no security software at all runs less risk of getting spyware or a
virus than a person who owns a PC and obsessively protects it. In the year 2008 there were 114,000 known viruses for PC's. But there has never
been a virus that could harm a Mac. Apple does admit they have come across some security flaws, but within a day of the flaws discovery Apple
creates a security update, and every single Mac user gets a notification from Apple saying that there is a flaw and an update available that can
correct it. And personally, I think one of the reasons Mac is so successful is because of their hardware. For example, lets pretend I bought a new PC.
Dell made the monitor and tower. Mircosoft made the hardware and operating system. Intel made the processor. Nvidia made the graphics drive. And
the consumer is the one putting everything together. The average desktop PC takes 2.5 hours to put together, and you're the one who has to do it! If
you do one thing wrong you could cut your computer's life in half. The worst part is, the more pieces and components that are in the computer, there
are more places that something could go wrong. When you buy a desktop Mac,

Case Study : Apple Inc.
n January of 1984, Apple Inc. released the first Macintosh personal computer to the public that significantly changed the personal computer world.
Apple Inc. (Apple), the biggest information technology American firm in the world, was founded in California on April 1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve
Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. The firm started in the garage of Steve job's home where the trio were inclined to build their ownpersonal computer as the
available ones were out of budget. Steve jobs formularized the idea of logistics between the development, creation, and sale of his computer by tying
the materials, production, and development in a streamlined chain of events; while Steve Woziak handled the research and development of the
computer. Together they were unstoppable and paved their path towards a multinational corporation that would specialize in consumer electronics
which would be known as an iconic brand. After 40 years, today Apple is a worldwide technology company that have 478 retail stores in 17
countries and around 115,000 number of employees all over the world (as of July 2015). The following analysis will focus on the first AppleMacintosh

Can you imagine a world without Buzz Lightyear, Nemo, or Lightning McQueen? They may never have come to life without Steve Jobs. His vision
led to the creation of the iPhone, iPod, and iPad. Could you imagine the same man who was so visionary was also unethical? He was a man who
belittled his employees. He treated them with disrespect and had little tolerance for intellectual empathy. He relied on emotive content and bully tactics
to achieve results. Steve Jobs was a Visionary Leader and an Unethical Leader. This claim will be expanded by exploring how Jobs took Apple from

In 1983, Apple was worth eight dollars a share. When Jobs was fired from Apple, the company's value dropped to under two dollars per share
(Elmer–DeWitt, 2012). Jobs didn't let being fired from Apple slow him down. As described in the student guide, Team Dynamics lesson, Jobs was
a Creator (BCEE, 2016b). He believed in the possibilities of technology. As a Creator, he wasn't afraid of boundaries. He went on to create Pixar
Entertainment. Pixar become respected by creating films like Toy Story and Finding Nemo. While Jobs was focused on creating his next success,
his former company was dwindling. In 1996, Apple realized they needed Jobs back. The company was at the brink of shutting down. Why would a
company want back the very person they tossed aside? According to Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs had "the courage to admit he
was wrong, and to change". Cook also asserted Jobs "wasn't beholden to anything except a set of core values" (Schlender, 2015) which ultimately
drove his success. His values and vision were needed to save Apple.
Upon his return to Apple, Jobs reversed the company's course and returned its vision back to where he originally saw it in 1985. He scrapped all
unnecessary projects and set his focus on the iMac and iPod. These products were what

Comparing Apple Macintosh Computers to Microsoft Windows PCs
Today's world is filled with technology that is constantly changing and evolving. For most children born in the twenty–first century, it is hard to
imagine living in a world that does not run on computers or any other type of electronic device. From governments, to businesses, to schools, to the
casual at–home user: computers are used by the majority of people living in developed countries on a day–to–day basis. One of the largest debates in
technology is the famous ever–lasting battle between Apple Macintosh computers and Microsoft Windows PCs (personal computers). Most common
consumers who aren't sure of what kind of computer they should invest in (Mac or PC) often raise one general question: Which is truly better? While
both companies have dedicated fans that would do anything to protect their favorite computer from ridicule, each company has a set of pros and cons
that could help an individual make up his or her mind on what computer is right for them. Both brands can be compared to one another by breaking
them down into three technological categories: build quality, hardware, and software.
One of the main topics that PC users will use to argue against Macs is that they are overpriced and underpowered. In other words, users could buy an
apple computer for two–thousand dollars, but also buy a PC at equal quality valued at around seven–hundred to a thousand dollars. What these users do
not take into consideration is the superior build quality of an apple computer

Apple states that the iMac is "made from materials such as aluminum and glass" which can make the computer more expensive because aluminum
will cost more because of the price of the raw material price is high as well and it is a lot stronger than steel, in addition it also gives the look of a
luxurious computer and if anyone has touched a iMac the aluminum body is just polished and smoothed this is when the metal is being attached to the
computer during production and creates a beautiful looking computer. On the other hand, PCs can be made from different materials like plastic,
traditional metal, steel and brushed aluminum this can be a factor depending on the price of the computer. Just like the iMac, Aluminum bodies can
also be in sharp looking PCs and can go through the same processes that the iMac goes through as well but it can be different depending on the
company. Steel and traditional metal can be found in medium quality computers where they just get. Finally, plastic builds compromise the experience
with the lack of good looking materials but can be budget friendly because plastic is cheap to produce.

Many people wonder what operating system may fit their needs.
92 percent of computer users have a Windows–based laptop or desktop. Only 5 percent of laptop or desktop computer owners use a Mac and the other
3 percent use the not–well–know Linux operating system. I will cover the stability, user friendliness, and how customizable the Windows operating
system is compared to that of Macintosh. Many will find that Macs are much more expensive than PCs, although many disagree. Some people just
prefer Mac over PC, but I will show you some advantages of Windows and some disadvantages of Mac OS.
Beginning with the stability of the Windows operating system, I personally have to say that it has greatly improved over the years. When the first
stable version of Windows was released, it was extremely buggy. It had issues regarding the software specifics and it is basically remembered as a
gimmick. Macintosh also had its rough beginnings, but it has moderately improved over the years. Macintosh's first stable release was System 0.8.5.
This version was very basic and was used for work purposes. It really had no multimedia support such as audio or video, but it did have image support.

Windows was Windows 7. Windows Vista was not taken very well by anybody, but soon after that was released, Windows 7 was introduced....it was

The Mac OS is the product of Apple, which was created in 1976 by the late Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniac. Mac OS, unlike Microsoft's Windows, is
an operating system designed only for the Macintosh computers. Whereas Microsoft's creation of Windows seemed more or less linear after the late
1980's, Apple circulated a number of different computers with different OS's, such as the Apple II, Apple III, the Lisa, in addition to the line of
Macintoshes. The ultimate brilliance behind Apple's development of its operating systems is vertical combination: Mac also develops both its own
hardware and software. However Microsoft takes a different approach: it provides the OS that is used by almost all IBM compatible computers
manufactured. Of all the individual personal computer ventures that Apple started however, only the top sellers of the Macintosh remain in production
and continue to evolve.
The first Mac was preceded by the Apple I, the Apple II which was very successful, the Apple III which was a disaster, and the Lisa which was a
disaster almost as bad as the Apple III. It was introduced in 1984, but development on Mac OS began in 1979. When presented, it was the first system
to rely exclusively on a graphical user interface to respond to user input. However it was the recognition of this graphical user interface that
encouraged Microsoft in its process of Windows.

the late 1970's when the original Macintosh hit the market. Although both bear similarities and differences, no obvious winner emerged in over 30
years of conflict. When it comes to a final decision of purchasing one or the other, certain factors should be taken into account. Three key factors when

1984 Commercial Essay
In 1984, Apple computers released a commercial introducing the new Macintosh computer. This commercial aired only one time during the Super
Bowl and incorporated many symbols from the novel 1984, written by George Orwell. The use of symbolism in Orwell's novel is mainly to
portray Winston's hope and freedom. Apple's commercial is very clear and easy to understand with a small amount of prior knowledge of 1984.
The commercial incorporated the symbols of Big Brother, the telescreen, and colors. The first symbol that Apple incorporated into their
advertisement is the idea of Big Brother. In 1984 Big Brother symbolizes the vagueness of the ruling of the Inner Party, as it is never confirmed
that Big Brother is a real person but exists because he is "'the embodiment of the Party'" (Orwell 259). It is repeated from the beginning of the book
that "Big Brother is watching you" (Orwell 2), which is comforting to those who follow Big Brother and threatening to criminals of the Party. In

no one is going to win this war. Mac users will say the security, usability, and design are better, while the PC users will say the price, software
compatibility, and choice is better. So there has always been this war about what is better, Mac or PC, but in the end it comes down to personal
preference. PC and Mac have always had different core operating systems. For PC it can go back to Windows 98, then Windows XP, followed by

Market Segmentation : Customer 's Needs, Wants And...
2. Market segmentation
Jobs focused on identification and characterization of users groups. Changing from retailers to costumers needs. The product review revealed how
unfocused Apple had become. The company was churning out multiple version of each product because of bureaucratic momentum and to satisfy the
whims of retailers.
One of the most important objectives is to develop mix that is focused on and matches the needs/wants of targeted segments.
He defined two segments professionals and consumers. Then he understand segment customer 's needs, wants and resistances.
He selected target markets and set of solution to each of it than was focused on user behavior market segmentation parameters.
3. Customer 's characterization
Jobs realized that Apple had a dozen version of the Macintosh, each with a different confusing number, from 1400 to 9600. To figure out what the
special characterization it took weeks to explain. Jobs finally was confusing by asking the question "Which ones do I tell my friend to buy? When he
was not getting a simple answer he decide to slash away at models and products.
To do this he first of all started to understand what customer 's characterization. Apple got an access to its database of customers when it reach a deal
with Power Computing to relinquish its license.

The Apple Macintosh: The Development and Exchange of Information Technology in the modern day plays a huge part in how society and people

Apple Macintosh was one of the first computers to truly change the idea of computers only being useful in the workplace and gave people an easier

The OS utilizes both the hardware of the computer and the programs which are built into the OS. The synergy created from OSs is what makes
them extremely important. Intel was the first to develop a microprocessor powerful enough to process an OS. "While UNIX was spreading beyond
Bell Labs, the development of the Intel 4004 microprocessor in 1971 allowed the concept of a PC to emerge" (Shlager and Lauer). This technology
was what allowed Apple to develop its first computers.
Although the Lisa computer would be the first computer from Apple to use a Graphical User Interface and an OS, its pricing was extremely high. This
resulted in a failure of units sold and did not encourage consumers to invest in personal computing. The Apple Macintosh however, was what turned this
around. The Apple Mac made personal computing affordable which was what got consumers to try this new technology. "The Lisa computer was
important because it was the first commercial product to use the mouse–window–desktop environment. The Macintosh is equally important because it
makes that same environment very affordable" (Linzmayer 93). Although Apple was not the first with personal computing, Apple was the first to make
PCs affordable and efficiently built.

Comparison Of The Old Spice :The Man Your Man Can Smell...
For this discussion, I chose to discuss the following three advertisements; Old Spice: The Man Your Man Could Smell Like, 1984 Apple's Macintosh

The Old Spice; The Man Your Man Could Smell Like commercial was designed to pitch the Old Spice men's body wash line. However, it appears to
sell sex appeal and luxurious items. The advertisement was directed towards woman because they tend to do most the shopping in most households.
Therefore, to successfully pitch the product, Old Spice had to get creative to attract the attention of the female audience. While it's true women are

Although, the audience all bald–headed appearing in uniformity, seems like prisoners in their time, sitting there listening as big brother makes his next
announcement. The young woman carrying the sledge hammer, different from everyone else in the room, introduces the audience to the future of the
Macintosh computer and how technology will never be the same after 1984. She represents the next generation and a new world that will become
more sophisticated and advanced. Additionally, big brother can no longer watch over everyone, allowing for the creation of independence which results
in a shocked crowd.
Ethical concerns I can see with this advertisement is how society reacts to changing the way the world thinks and adopts the new technology. It's hard
to change human behavior overnight, which could result in a lack of acceptance. Additionally, since IBM was the only computer at the time Apple
unveiled Macintosh, there could be some issues with pricing wars harming the brand's reputation.
Lastly, the third advertisement I chose was the Volkswagen: "Think Small" ad. While this ad is selling the Volkswagen Beetle, it's also selling the
simplicity of owning a smaller car. Most advertising campaigns go the distance to sell a product, as we can tell from the other two ads in my
discussion. While the ad is simple, so is the car. The white space allows the viewer to focus on

What Matters To Consumer Essay
What matters to Consumers?
Today, the differences in Macintosh computers and personal computers are smaller, but still important. In fact, you can do everything on a Mac that
you can do on a PC and vice versa. It is more about how much you want to pay and what you will get in return. By looking at options based on
quality, capability, and price, we will see what consumers need. Choice and options are driving factors for modern day consumers looking to buy a

The needs and wants for the consumers are very important. Consumers are becoming more conscious about their needs and wants when it comes to

Literary Devices Used In Advertising
To this day I can remember ________. The way his words toyed with my thoughts. I hung on every word, each new sound finding its way into brain to
manipulate my ideas in real time. –––––––––––––––MORE STORY––––––––––––– Words are fascinating; not because of their sounds, but because of
their many other unique attributes. Pronunciation. Context. Volume. These after–market attributes are what give their words true power. Accessible to
everyone, words are used anywhere from day to day conversation to presidential campaigns, but one of the most common places words are used to
make change is in advertising. One of the most common places rhetoric is found is in advertising. Catalyzed in the 1950s, America's advertising
industry set the tone for both content and consumer acquisition strategy. Companies like budweiser and ford were some of the few companies that
excelled in the initial bull rush, using the new power of television to get their products in front of their customers. The market quickly became saturated
and consumers soon became aware of the common tactics used by marketing agencies. Companies soon found themselves exploring different tactics
and rhetoric to make sales. Many companies still continue to use simple product display to rely on marketing, however one company continually stands

Battle of the Bytes: Macintosh vs. Windows 95
Battle of the Bytes: Macintosh vs. Windows 95
It used to be that the choice between a Mac and a PC was pretty clear.
If you wanted to go for the more expensive, easier to use, and better graphics and sound, you went to buy a Macintosh, for the cheaper price, it was the
PC.
Now it is a much different show. With the release of Windows 95 and the dynamics of the hardware market have changed the equation.
On the other hand, Apple has made great price reductions on many of their computers last October. You can now buy a reasonably equipped Power
Macintosh at about the same price as a PC that has about the same things. This makes the competition much harder.
Windows 3.x have been great improvements over the earlier versions of
Windows, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since of the making of Windows 95 many companies now make programs for the PC. It may be a long time, if ever, that they will decide to make
it for a Mac. Plus since of the many people with IBM PC's at home, people can bring their work to and from school. If everyone had the same kind of
computer on a network, students could go into the computers at schools all over the world to use programs there.
So since now that the quality of computers are equal it is very hard to make your decision. For those that are not computer literate, the best thing to
do is to go for the Mac because of the easiness involved in using one. This means you get less choice of programs in a store, and if you go online,
many people will be using something different from you so you have no idea what they are talking about. If you know how a computer is basically
used, a Windows 95 PC will be no problem. It doesn't take that long to learn. You will have a bigger choice of programs and may be able to do more
things with other people that have a computer. It comes down to this choice. Most of the choosing will go to schools because of the many using
Macintosh computers, which most of Apple's money comes from. It is only recently companies that made software for PC's that got interested in
making programs for educational purposes.
So if you are deciding a computer. I leave you to

Examples Of Mintzberg's Mode Of Strategic Decision Making

Characteristics of Strategic Decisions. In the Mintzberg's Mode of Strategic Decision Making have three most typical approaches or modes of
strategic decision making which are Entrepreneurial, Adaptive, and Planning. After that, fourth mode was added in this decision making by Quinn
which is Logical Incrementalism. First, the Entrepreneurial Mode is the strategy is made by one powerful individual. This is also the first stage in
company's development when the founders make most or all day to day and strategic decisions in the firm. This mode is more focusing on the
opportunities and growth. Apple Computer Inc. is the one example of this mode of strategic decision making. The company reflected Steve Job's
vision of computer for the rest of us . According Steve Job, we started out to get a computer in the hands of everyday people, and we succeeded
beyond our wildest dreams. This is showing the opportunities of Apple Computer Inc. in the mode of entrepreneurial although the idea comes from
the Wozniak's hobby. Second, the Adaptive Mode which is the characterized by reactive solutions than proactive search for new opportunities. This
mode of decisions making is referred to as "muddling through". This is the firm's development where long term strategic decision is closely linked to
its short term strategy. In 1980, Apple Computer Inc. has a drop number of sales from sales in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Although I was not alive for this particular commercial, I think that one of the best Super Bowl commercials I have ever seen has been Apple's

such as sentimentality, strength, change, and an influential way of presenting their product in which Apple thought could change the world for all

question is Steven Paul Jobs and Markus Alexej Persson, both of these men intriguing people.
Steve Jobs was a big troublemaker in his early years and was very intuitive. First, Steve was born in San Francisco, California on February 24, 1955.

terrible idea and only let him skip fifth grade. Next, he went to Crittenden Middle school, but he got bullied so much that he threatened his mom and
dad by telling them he would quit school if the bullying didn 't stop. They knew Steve's threats were serious, so they changed to the Cupertino school
system. Finally, Jobs went to Reed college and continued to attend classes even when he dropped out of college.
Steve was a man of many accomplishments and his accomplishments were no small feat. First, Paul started up the Apple company in his father and

Development in both products has challenged both of these stereotypes. Most literature that is not published by the computer companies, now

you have at home. The main differences are preferences and style. The research on the personality traits of Mac vs. PC users even show a blending
and less division than in the past (Ford, 2009). There are some other differences in the Apple Mac and PCs that should be considered when discussing
which machines are better for schools to purchase.
Educational Setting The use of Apple Macintosh in schools is predominantly all that I know and I knew little of personal computer use prior to ten years

She wanted to make a change that would impact everyone. While she was running down the aisle towards the television screen, guards were chasing

iconic scene of breaking the television screen to be of great importance because it symbolizes how just one person wants to put an end to dictatorship
and wants to make a new society that would be based on fairness, justice, and freedom. Apple introduced the Macintosh computer because it was
symbolic item that would change the course of human history. No more boundaries, no more rules, and no more breaking the bond of privacy. When
Steve Jobs started Apple, he not only introduced first–class technology, but he wanted everyone to feel a sense of their own privacy. He didn't want

Since the dawn of the information age, computers have developed into a very important part of society. They are increasingly being integrated with
numerous aspects of human life, and have become a necessity in many college and business settings. Two major corporations that capitalize on this
integration are Microsoft and Apple, and while they may appear identical, the difference between Microsoft's Personal Computer and Apple's Macintosh
becomes much more apparent when affordability, variety, and vulnerability are considered. Ultimately, a PC is a better purchase than a Macintosh.
First, the price of a Macintosh is typically around $2000, a high price for a computer. This is significantly due to the fact that Apple produces all of their

Microsoft's policy enables competition between PC producers resulting in lower prices. This also causes stratification of the PCs resulting in low–end,
average, and luxury versions.
Another consequence of Apple's unwillingness to allow other manufacturers to produce Macintosh computers is a limited selection along with the
prohibitive unavailability of the Macintosh. There are only a few distinct models of computers made by Apple, and each of them can only be found at
Apple's store or on their website.
Microsoft's approach of creating competition also increases both the variety and the availability of their PCs. PCs can be found almost anywhere that
sells other electronics. Each PC manufacturer produces their own configurations. Each retailer sells at least a few exclusive PCs. The end result is
many different PC options for the consumer.
One advantage Macintosh has is its virtually impenetrable defenses against computer viruses and hackers. There are very few viruses that affect
Macintosh computers as programming in the operating system changes vastly with each new version. This makes it much more difficult to create a
virus, and greatly White 3
decreases the success rate of hackers by limiting the available targets. While not required for safe web browsing, security software can effectively
eradicate the small number of viruses that do actually exist for Macintosh computers.

Development in both products has challenged both of these stereotypes. Most literature that is not published by the computer companies, now
identify the similarities and focus less on the differences. They no longer propose that if you have a PC at work you should be consistent with what
you have at home. The main differences are preferences and style. The research on the personality traits of Mac vs. PC users even show a blending
and less division than in the past (Ford, 2009). There are some other differences in the Apple Mac and PCs that should be considered when discussing
which machines are better for schools to purchase.
Educational Setting The use of Apple Macintosh in schools is predominantly all that I know and I knew little of personal computer use prior to ten years
ago. Our middle class, suburban school district of over 4000 students, use to pride itself with keeping up with the technology with its more affluent
neighbors to the east and the south. Changes in the economy have limited the purchase of new computers to 1.) Those bought for the new school in the
district three years ago, 2.) Replacing the 10–year–old computers in the media center in the 5th –6th grade building and the 7th –8th grade building, 3.)
1:1 laptop initiative for the 180 +certified teachers last year and 4.) The replacement of computers used by secretaries and administrators. There were
old PC's in each of the six older buildings but as they have

Michael Porter
Michael Porter 5 Forces Porter's five forces of competitive position analysis is a simple framework for assessing and evaluating the competitive
strength and position of a business organization that formed by Michael E. Porter of Harvard Business School in 1979. Basically, the concept of this
theory is actually based on the five forces model that uses to determine the intensity of competition and market attractiveness. Therefore, strategic
analysts are often to use Porter's five forces to comprehend whether new products or services are potentially profitable when they're entering into new
player. The five forces of Michael Porter's are bargaining power of suppliers, bargaining power of buyers, competitive... Show more content on

This would permit consumers of Nokia to download music from Warner. Yet, Nokia might figure out that they are difficult to penetrate into online
music market but with the domination of the world cellular market, and this can be a threat to Apple. The next force is the threat of new entrants.
When Apple Computers were begun in the early 1980's, the threat of new entrant was significant. During that period of time, PCs were relatively new
to the market with existence of only few competitors, little distinction, no government regulation and the assembly of PCs was simple compare to
now. In Apple's case, the brand loyalty is the one reason that causes entry barriers for new companies, and also large startup costs, due to Apple's
computers are highly priced so that may be an opening for others computer companies in order to achieve lower prices for customers within the market.
Unsurprisingly, the new enterprises appeared quickly and forced Apple to distinguish their product over time. After years of continued, finally, Apple
was forced to produce more innovation, distinctive and superiority products, which is a dynamically favorable to both Apple and the industry. At the
same time, the industry's dominant players were becoming established, reducing the threat of new entrants and solidifying Apple's position. Since the
existing companies have created strong branding awareness, so this threat would be very low. Third Porter's force is threat of

Apple 's First Macintosh Commercial
On December 31st of 1983 an eccentric commercial was introduced, challenging other companies and awaking people all over the country. It has been
more than 30 years and people are still talking about Apple's first Macintosh commercial. Companies use commercials to show the audience that their
products are worth buying like Apple did in its first Macintosh commercial. By using themes from George Orwell's 1984, Apple was able to speak
volumes about its product without showing or describing it. Apple visualizes its self as the hero that will save the world and people believed it.
Most of us now own an Apple brand. This advertisement is an effective ad because it contains a valuable message that was provided to the viewer by
using contrasting visuals and it is about awakening the people and breaking the chains of similarity and loving to be different. Yet, it is ironic because
Apple has become one of the most controlling companies in our society. In the complex mysterious 1984 commercial of Apple Mac that definitely
needs a second thought before being understood, everything is grey at the beginning. People marching down the tunnel, wearing all grey with their
heads shaved and their identity lost. Then we notice an athletic girl with red shorts contrasting the grey atmosphere that was created at the beginning
of the advertisement. And we also visualize a man in a big blue screen giving a speech and everyone is listening to him. Then the girl throws a
hammer on the big screen

Thirty–nine years ago none of these devices were available for purchase because they had not yet been invented. If it wasn't for Steve Jobs these devices as we know them today may not exist. Because of Steve Jobs people all around the world now own or have access to one if not all of these devices. Steve Jobs died on Oct. 5, 2011 at age 56 from pancreatic cancer (Gambino, 2011). • 4. Super Bowl Commercials Although there were numerous memorable Super Bowl advertisements throughout the years, one of the most interesting commercials that aired consisted of an Apple commercial with the release of its first Macintosh. This iconic commercial first aired in 1984 where it emulated the concept of the '1984' book written by George Orwell where everyone was a conformist and viewed under the watchful eyes of Big Brother. In the commercial, everyone is following protocol while wearing monotone gray jumpsuits with the same hairstyle. On the other hand, there is a fit–looking woman who is running away from the guards while holding onto a hammer. It appears as if the woman is running towards where the rest of the men are, who are all sitting down while watching a dominating figure on the large screen. The man on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Around that time, most of the computers were PC while Apple was still relatively new so whenever they aired their commercial, they were basically the 'new' and innovative company that would bring in a new way to utilize the computer. In terms of the advertisement, Apple was represented by the fit–looking woman who stood out amongst the mundane men. The fact that Apple launched an advertisement for their new product in 1984 while at the same time emulating the conformity of society as it was described in the book '1984' was genius. Nowadays, the advertisements simply demonstrate as to why their products are more superior than other similar brands or target groups of people based off their insecurities. • 6. Super Bowl Advertising Analysis On December 31, 1983, Apple premiered what was possibly one of the biggest commercials of all time. It was an introduction to the original Macintosh. It opens with people marching to a large gray hall. In this hall, there is a large screen with a man, who is commanding these people. However, a woman comes running down the hall with a hammer. She flings the hammer at the screen and it explodes. A block of text appears over the aftermath. It reads: "On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you'll see why 1984 won't be like '1984.'" The commercial ends with the rainbow Apple logo. It was directed by Ridley Scott and conceived by the agency, ChiatDay. The ad was elegant, elaborate and especially cinematic. It represented a milestone not only in Super Bowl ads, but how commercials would be made since then. Apple's 1984 takes on two meaning, one representing our humanity and another representing our relationship to computers (at the time). Humanity should not conform to societal norms. Or is it an Apple Macintosh running Mac OS X? Using a PC can be such a hassle. Macintosh computers are so much better and easier to use than a PC. Macs also are better for the planet, have a longer lifespan, have more reliable hardware, are less likely to crash or get viruses, have better security features, it's very easy to transfer all your files from a PC to a Mac, and a Mac can be a PC if you really wanted it too. But I will explain that last one later. First, I will tell you about how the build of the Macintosh computer is a big reason of the rapid growth of Macs. Mircosoft made the hardware and operating system. Intel made the processor. Nvidia made the graphics drive. And the consumer is the one putting everything together. The average desktop PC takes 2.5 hours to put together, and you're the one who has to do it! If you do one thing wrong you could cut your computer's life in half. One of the largest debates in technology is the famous ever–lasting battle between Apple Macintosh computers and Microsoft Windows PCs (personal computers). Most common consumers who aren't sure of what kind of computer they should invest in (Mac or PC) often raise one general question: Which is truly better? While both companies have dedicated fans that would do anything to protect their favorite computer from ridicule, each company has a set of pros and cons that could help an individual make up his or her mind on what computer is right for them. Both brands can be compared to one another by breaking them down into three technological categories: build quality, hardware, and software. Mac OS, unlike Microsoft's Windows, is an operating system designed only for the Macintosh computers. Whereas Microsoft's creation of Windows seemed more or less linear after the late 1980's, Apple circulated a number of different computers with different OS's, such as the Apple II, Apple III, the Lisa, in addition to the line of Macintoshes. The ultimate brilliance behind Apple's development of its operating systems is vertical combination: Mac also develops both its own hardware and software. However Microsoft takes a different approach: it provides the OS that is used by almost all IBM compatible computers manufactured. Of all the individual personal computer ventures that Apple started however, only the top sellers of the Macintosh remain in production and continue to evolve. The first Mac was preceded by the Apple I, the Apple II which was very successful, the Apple III which was a disaster, and the Lisa which was a disaster almost as bad as the Apple III. It was introduced in 1984, but development on Mac OS began in 1979. When presented, it was the first system to rely exclusively on a graphical user interface to respond to user input. However it was the recognition of this graphical user interface that encouraged Microsoft in its process of Windows.

The Apple Macintosh : Development And Exchange Of Information The Apple Macintosh: The Development and Exchange of Information Technology in the modern day plays a huge part in how society and people alike function in their environment and workplace. There was a time however, when technology was not as accessible nor convenient for people. The Apple Macintosh was one of the first computers to truly change the idea of computers only being useful in the workplace and gave people an easier way to access and utilize information. The use of a Graphical User Interface and the push for the Macintosh to be used for educational purposes gave the Macintosh an edge over the competition and pioneered the current technology used today. The OS utilizes both the hardware of the computer and the programs which are built into the OS. The synergy created from OSs is what makes them extremely important. Intel was the first to develop a microprocessor powerful enough to process an OS. "While UNIX was spreading beyond Bell Labs, the development of the Intel 4004 microprocessor in 1971 allowed the concept of a PC to emerge" (Shlager and Lauer). This technology was what allowed Apple to develop its first computers. Although the Lisa computer would be the first computer from Apple to use a Graphical User Interface and an OS, its pricing was extremely high. This resulted in a failure of units sold and did not encourage consumers to invest in personal computing. The Apple Macintosh however, was what turned this around. The Apple Mac made personal computing affordable which was what got consumers to try this new technology. "The Lisa computer was important because it was the first commercial product to use the mouse–window–desktop environment. The Macintosh is equally important because it makes that same environment very affordable" (Linzmayer 93). Although Apple was not the first with personal computing, Apple was the first to make PCs affordable and efficiently built. For this discussion, I chose to discuss the following three advertisements; Old Spice: The Man Your Man Could Smell Like, 1984 Apple's Macintosh Commercial, and Volkswagen: "Think Small." The Old Spice; The Man Your Man Could Smell Like commercial was designed to pitch the Old Spice men's body wash line. However, it appears to sell sex appeal and luxurious items. The advertisement was directed towards woman because they tend to do most the shopping in most households. Therefore, to successfully pitch the product, Old Spice had to get creative to attract the attention of the female audience. She represents the next generation and a new world that will become more sophisticated and advanced. Additionally, big brother can no longer watch over everyone, allowing for the creation of independence which results in a shocked crowd. Ethical concerns I can see with this advertisement is how society reacts to changing the way the world thinks and adopts the new technology. It's hard to change human behavior overnight, which could result in a lack of acceptance. Additionally, since IBM was the only computer at the time Apple unveiled Macintosh, there could be some issues with pricing wars harming the brand's reputation. Lastly, the third advertisement I chose was the Volkswagen: "Think Small" ad. While this ad is selling the Volkswagen Beetle, it's also selling the simplicity of owning a smaller car. Most advertising campaigns go the distance to sell a product, as we can tell from the other two ads in my discussion. While the ad is simple, so is the car. If you wanted to go for the more expensive, easier to use, and better graphics and sound, you went to buy a Macintosh, for the cheaper price, it was the PC. Now it is a much different show. With the release of Windows 95 and the dynamics of the hardware market have changed the equation. On the other hand, Apple has made great price reductions on many of their computers last October. You can now buy a reasonably equipped Power Macintosh at about the same price as a PC that has about the same things. This makes the competition much harder. If everyone had the same kind of computer on a network, students could go into the computers at schools all over the world to use programs there. So since now that the quality of computers are equal it is very hard to make your decision. For those that are not computer literate, the best thing to do is to go for the Mac because of the easiness involved in using one. This means you get less choice of programs in a store, and if you go online, many people will be using something different from you so you have no idea what they are talking about. If you know how a computer is basically used, a Windows 95 PC will be no problem. It doesn't take that long to learn. You will have a bigger choice of programs and may be able to do more things with other people that have a computer. It comes down to this choice. Most of the choosing will go to schools because of the many using Macintosh computers, which most of Apple's money comes from. It is only recently companies that made software for PC's that got interested in making programs for educational purposes. So if you are deciding a computer. I leave you to

Microsoft's policy enables competition between PC producers resulting in lower prices. This also causes stratification of the PCs resulting in low–end, average, and luxury versions. Another consequence of Apple's unwillingness to allow other manufacturers to produce Macintosh computers is a limited selection along with the prohibitive unavailability of the Macintosh. There are only a few distinct models of computers made by Apple, and each of them can only be found at Apple's store or on their website. Microsoft's approach of creating competition also increases both the variety and the availability of their PCs. PCs can be found almost anywhere that sells other electronics. Each PC manufacturer produces their own configurations. Each retailer sells at least a few exclusive PCs. The end result is many different PC options for the consumer. One advantage Macintosh has is its virtually impenetrable defenses against computer viruses and hackers. There are very few viruses that affect Macintosh computers as programming in the operating system changes vastly with each new version.
