opioid crisis by developing the prescription drug abuse prevention plan which slightly
increased the profile of opioid abuse. He also initiated a grant program at the HHS for
medication-assisted treatment. The passage of the ACA in 2010 helped in curbing the opioid
epidemic by making treatment of substance misuse one of the ten required coverage areas
of marketplace plans. Additionally, the ACA increased Medicaid coverage for certain income
limits, with coverage including substance misuse treatment (Barlas, 2017).Discussion:

up to inappropriately high levels. President Bush fought the rising trend of drug abuse by

drug abuse, President Bush established a balanced, ambitious strategy that focused on three
