As Wikipedia says “Project management is the process and activity of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources, procedures and protocols to achieve specific goals. A project is a temporary endeavor designed to produce a unique product, service or result with a defined beginning and end”
The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives while honoring the constraints of scope, time, quality and budget whilst allocating the necessary inputs and integrating them to meet pre-defined objectives.

• As Wikipedia says “Project management is the process and activity of planning, organizing, motivating,

endeavor designed to produce a unique product, service or result with a defined beginning and end”
• The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals and objectives while
honoring the constraints of scope, time, quality and budget whilst allocating the necessary inputs and
integrating them to meet pre-defined objectives.
• The temporary nature of projects stands in contrast with business as usual which are repetitive &
permanent functional activities to produce products or services. In practice, the management of these
two systems is often quite different, and as such requires the development of distinct technical skills and
management strategies.Over the last 25 years I have observed project management in practice and have
6 thoughts to help everyone faced with the challenge of running projects on an occasional or regular
basis in their jobs or company to do so in a more relaxed and controlled manner.

• Know what you have come
to do, over how long and for
how much!
• If you don’t then you are not in control of your
project from day one and its likely to fail

• When you're wrong stop
digging deeper
• This is counter-intuitive to normal business
processes - sometimes you need to invest real
money to finish off & stop the “bleeding”!
