3. Encourage your members
Catch the attention of members with special
stewardship activities.
Challenge them to grow in their faith.
Paul used encouragement with the Corinthian Church;
“I thank God, who put into the heart of Titus the same concern I
have for you. For Titus not only welcomed our appeal, but he is
coming to you with much enthusiasm and on his own initiative.
And we are sending along with him the brother who is praises
by all the churches for his service to the gospel.” (2
Corinthians 8:16-17)
4. Challenge your members to
grow as committed
stewards.

SS/Worship.

7. ONE-DAY FEATURES
Steward – Step Up
• It is a simple, low-key approach calling on members
to “step up” and support the ministries of the church.
– Make the purpose/mission of the church clear.
– Highlight anticipated ministries for the next 3 to 6 months.
– Enlist a respected member to share of an earlier time when members stepped-up and met
a challenge.
– Explain why it is important for families to “step-up” and give generously.
– Use appropriate handouts in the worship folders.
– Preach on positive results of Christians responding to the needs of the church.
– Have a respected member encourage the church to “step-up” and respond generously
and close the service with prayer.
8. ONE DAY FEATURES
Budget Adoption Day is the day the church approves
the ministries they will support in the following
months.
Preparations:
◦ Set the date.
◦ Distribute copies of the proposed budget to all families.
◦ Times to discuss the proposed budget are set.
◦ Needed revisions of the proposed budget should be made by
the Budget Planning Committee.
◦ Enlist 2 members to give brief testimonies:
“Our church budget makes possible…”
“I’m glad to give through our church because…”
9. Budget Adoption Day
Include testimonies in the morning worship service.
Pastor’s sermon should relate to church ministries.
Vote on the church budget without further discussion.
Recognize and thank the budget planning committee
and the church.
Conclude with prayer:
for members to be faithful in their giving.
for God to bless the ministries of the church.
11. New Member Education
Utilize the “teachable moment” when new
members unite with the church.
Establish and utilize an ongoing program for
new members to include:
◦ A copy of the present church budget.
◦ A letter from the pastor.
◦ An appropriate tract on tithing/giving.
12. Letters to Challenge
Nothing can surpass a personal,
well-written letter.
Consider a quarterly planned letter
challenge.
◦ First Quarter: A letter of concern
◦ Second Quarter: A letter of faithfulness
◦ Third Quarter: A letter of opportunity
◦ Fourth Quarter: A letter of gratitude
13. “Coming Together”
Dinner/Picnic/Fellowship
Establish an upbeat service with a clear purpose.
Encourage faithful giving as either the church budget
is discussed or as some of the ministries are
highlighted.
The proper use of stewardship skits/dramas or video
presentation can effectively complement any of these
activities.
14. “Coming Together”
Dinner/Picnic/Fellowship
Experiences might include:
–A Fellowship Dinner – with careful planning
of the time, theme, decorations, meal,
promotion, and program.
–Informal “coming together” – detailed
planning is still needed; the meal or
refreshments, enlistment of members, and an
inspiring program.
