One of the very first cases that caught Freud’s attention when he was starting to develop his psychoanalytic theory was that of Anna O, a patient of fellow psychiatrist Josef Breuer. Joost Abraham Maurits Meerloo (March 14, 1903 â November 17, 1976) was a Dutch Doctor of Medicine and psychoanalyst.
Born as Abraham Maurits 'Bram' Meerloo in The Hague, Netherlands, he came to United States in 1946, was naturalized in 1950, and resumed Dutch citizenship in 1972. Dr. Meerloo was a practicing psychiatrist for over forty years. He did staff psychiatric work in Holland and worked as a general practitioner until 1942 under Nazi occupation, when he assumed the name Joost to fool the occupying forces and in 1942 fled to England (after barely eluding death at the hands of the Germans). He was chief of the Psychological Department of the Dutch Army-in-Exile in England.
After the war he served as High Commissioner for Welfare in Holland, and was an advisor to UNRRA and SHAEF. An American citizen since 1950, Dr. Meerloo was a member of the faculty at Columbia University and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the New York School of Psychiatry. He was the author of many books, including Rape of the Mind, the classic work on brainwashing, Conversation and Communication, and Hidden Communion.
He was the son of Bernard and Anna (Benjamins) Meerloo. He married Louisa Betty Duits (a physical therapist), May 7, 1948.

A lack of sympathy and compassion is one of the key characteristics of a psychopath (Smith-Clark, February 14, 2009). In psychopathic people, there is no deficiency in being aware of feelings or recognizing when others are in discomfort and/or agony. As a matter of fact, when it comes to recognizing it, psychopaths, if anything, are more capable than non-psychopaths are (Smith-Clark, February 14, 2009). This is one reason why psychopaths are extremely successful with manipulating others (Smith-Clark, February 14, 2009). A psychopath sees and understands precisely what another individual is experiencing, but “s/he just doesn’t care” (Smith-Clark, February 14, 2009).
Even though it is projected that twenty percent of prisoners are psychopaths, in reality, the disorder occurs in approximately one percent of people, which makes it fairly common (Ditkoff, ud). This aggregates to approximately one out of every one-hundred individuals. In other words, in a populace of eight billion persons, there are eighty-million psychopaths sauntering amongst us (Ditkoff, ud). Psychopaths are a lot more common and dissimilar grouping, which effects every one of us each day (Ditkoff, ud). Psychopaths may show the full range of criminality or non-criminality. Some are caught committing criminal actions and are recognized as offenders. Others commit criminal acts but are not caught. Humaneness and Behaviorism
The idea that humanism and behaviorism are neces-
sarily opposed to each other is rampant in psychological
and educational circles. I believe this is a destructive
and unnecessary situation. Before I explain my belief,
however, I would like to comment on the term
humanism itself.
It seems to me that humanism is a very unfortunate
and misleading term. First, it is quite ambiguous. It
is not clear what is meant when the term is used, for
many diverse, and even sometimes polemic, persons are
identified with the word. For example, one might ask
such questions as, Do all humanists advocate the use
of encounter groups? Is a self-theorist the same as an
existentialist? Is A. Maslow's existential position the
same as A. W. Comb's phenomenology? I believe the
answer to all of these questions is no. The point is
made clear by the fact that humanism does not appear
as a heading of a valid psychological construct in
Goldenson's recent encyclopedia of human behavior.
Why? Because no one knows exactly what it means
in relation to psychological positions.
However, there are some meaningful beliefs implied
by the use of the term. Humanism is meant to refer
to people who are vitally concerned with the present
state of man, his problems, and how to improve his
condition. This brings me to my second major criticism
of the construct which is more important than the first.
Use of the term immediately develops a good-guy-bad-
guy categorization. The humanist, the one who cares,
is the good guy and everyone else is a bad guy. This
is especially painful since one of the other major forces
in psychology and education, behaviorism, is not con-
sidered as being in the humanist camp, and a be-
haviorist, then, is automatically a bad guy.
It may have been true years ago that behaviorists
were concerned only with the development of an amoral,
asocial science. But it is certainly no longer true.
Since men like J. Wolpe and B. F. Skinner have moved
behaviorism from the laboratory to therapeutical and
educational settings, behaviorists have clearly demon-
strated that they have exactly the same kinds of con-
cerns as so-called humanists.

The purpose of this paper is to explain the concepts and theories of personality development. People tend to think widely about personality at the workplace, in schools, and in other social events. Researchers in psychology and other fields have overtime in history researched how the personality of individuals developed. The development of personality refers to the organization of human behavior patterns, which brings uniqueness amongst various individuals. Many factors can result in personality changes such as the genetic factors, the environment one is living, styles of parenting, and other very important variables. The development of personality allows individuals to adopt an impressive personality and makes one be unique. Various psychologists have developed various theories that explain the development of human personality. Psychodynamic theory
The development of personality takes place through a certain series of stages. Each of these stages has unique conflict features in psychology. The development of human personality is developed from a number of components of the human mind. Feud believed that the three components include the id, the ego, and the superego. The id is concerned with the question "want to do that now," it is characterized by the gratification of certain basic needs and has an aspect of urgency. The superego places focus on some essential rules and morals in society. This is closely related to the commonly referred to as the human conscience. The development happens as individuals grow from childhoods to adulthood. The ego is mainly rational and part of our inner personality. A number of psychologists have criticized the feuds ideas about personality development and have rather applied the effect that the child's environment and their culture affect the development of their personality. The psychologists focused on the strong drive, which compensates for inferiority feelings. One of the very first cases that caught Freud’s attention when he was starting to develop his psychoanalytic theory was that of Anna O, a patient of fellow psychiatrist Josef Breuer. Although Freud did not directly treat her, he did thoroughly analyze her case as he was fascinated by the fact that her hysteria was “cured” by Breuer. It is her case that he believes was the beginning of the psychoanalytic approach.
Through your analysis of this case, you will not only look deeper into Freud’s psychoanalytic theory but also see how Jung’s neo-psychoanalytic theory compares and contrasts with Freud’s theory.

The Case of Anna O.
One of the first cases that inspired Freud in the development of what would eventually become the Psychoanalytic Theory was the case of Anna O. Anna O. was actually a patient of one of Freud’s colleagues Josef Breuer. Using Breuer’s case notes, Freud was able to analyze the key facts of Anna O’s case.
Anna O. first developed her symptoms while she was taking care of her very ill father with whom she was extremely close. Some of her initial symptoms were loss of appetite to the extent of not eating, weakness, anemia, and development a severe nervous cough. Eventually she developed a severe optic headache and lost the ability to move her head, which then progressed into paralysis of both arms. Her symptoms were not solely physical as she would vacillate between a normal, mental state and a manic-type state in which she would become extremely agitated. There was even a notation of a time for which she hallucinated that the ribbons in her hair were snakes.
Toward the end of her father’s life she stopped speaking her native language of German and instead only spoke in English. A little over a year after she began taking care of her father he passed away. After his passing her symptoms grew to affect her vision, a loss of ability to focus her attention, more extreme hallucinations, and a number of suicidal attempts (Hurst, 1982).
Both Freud and Jung would acknowledge that unconscious processes are at work in this woman's problems. However, they would come to different conclusions about the origin of these problems and the method by which she should be treated.

THE United States needed to eliminate Osama bin Laden to fulfill our sense of justice and, to a lesser extent, to end the myth of his invincibility. But dropping Bin Laden's corpse in the sea does not end the terrorist threat, nor does it remove the ideological motivation of Al Qaeda's supporters.
Often forgotten amid the ugly violence of Al Qaeda's attacks was that the terrorists' declared goal was to replace existing governments in the Muslim world with religiously pure Islamist states and eventually restore an Islamic caliphate. High on Al Qaeda's list of targets was Egypt's president, Hosni Mubarak. The protesters of Tahrir Square succeeded in removing him without terrorism and without Al Qaeda.
Thus, even before Bin Laden's death, analysts had begun to argue that Al Qaeda was rapidly becoming irrelevant. With Bin Laden's death, it is even more tempting to think that the era of Al Qaeda is over.
But such rejoicing would be premature. To many Islamist ideologues, the Arab Spring simply represents the removal of obstacles that stood in the way of establishing the caliphate. Their goal has not changed, nor has their willingness to use terrorism.
In the months ahead, Bin Laden's death may encourage Al Qaeda to stage an attack to counter the impression that it is out of business. The more significant threat, however, will come from Al Qaeda's local affiliates. Bin Laden and his deputies designed Al Qaeda as a network of affiliated groups that could operate largely independently to .

A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
