2. Statistics
As of 2011, 5.2% of the population are disabled,
declining from 6.3% in 2010.
The Northern Cape has the highest percentage of
disabled persons, at 10.2%.
3,001 people recorded with seeing difficulty (39
completely blind)
840 people with hearing difficulty (20 completely
deaf)
1,028 people with walking difficulty (77 cannot walk at
all)
1,107 people with difficulty remembering or
concentrating
1,564 people with difficulty taking care of themselves
364 people with communication difficulty (69 unable
to communicate at all)

10.5% of people with no education are
disabled
18.6% of the disabled population is employed
77.7% of households headed by a disabled
person had access to piped water
61.8% of households headed by a disabled
person had access electricity for lighting
Between the ages of 6 and 18, 10% or more
non-disabled persons attend school than
disabled person.
