Religion
The Greeks believe in many gods who were responsible for the living and the
dead. The principal gods were the twelve Olympians thought to live on Mount
Olympus. They were led by Zeus, son of chronos, ruler of the heavens. Temples
were built to provide earthly homes for individual gods. Animals and birds were
given to the priests for sacrifice. Festivals were held to please individual gods and
persuade them to be munificent. Before an important project was started, an oracle
or soothsayer was consulted to learn the will of the gods.
All Greek cities and colonies built a theater or amphitheater. Society consisted of
two main groups—free people and slaves. Slaves were owned by free people and
were employed as servants and laborers. Slaves were purchased in slaves
markets or were prisoners of war.
India in 500 AD was the Beginning of Bhakti cult in Tamil Nadu, is a Hindu religious
movement in which the main spiritual practice is loving devotion among the
Shaivite and Vaishnava saints. Other religion was the vedism, The Vedism rooted
in the primitive Indo-European beliefs having some points of contact with Greek,
Latin, Slavic and Germanic. However, their connections are closer to those of the
ancient Iranians as revealed by comparative reading of the Avesta, the most
sacred text of the latte.
Another religion was the Buddhism, It comes from the Sanskrit word Buddha, "the
awakened" epithet given to its founder after reaching enlightenment.
The Founder Was Siddhartha Gautama, known as Sakyamuni Tathagata and
Buddha. Sakyamuni (Śākya-muni) means "the sage of the Sakya" by being from a
small republic in northeastern India and southern Nepal ruled by the Sakya clan.
Tathagata (tathā-gata) which literally means "well come", perhaps alluding to the
Buddhas who preceded him in the past, was the term used by the Buddha to refer
to himself. The traditional chronology states that Buddha lived between 560-480
BC., but is now believed to have been born later, in early V century BC.
