Chirayath et al use an updated model of differential association theory combined with critical theory and classical economics to examine increasing corporate deviance in an era of globalization. They conclude that multinational corporations are exposed to varying legal and ethical standards across countries, making deviant behavior more likely as acceptable and profitable. They believe globalized corporate wrongdoing will continue and possibly increase as long as differences in norms and laws across borders remain unresolved.
