Pros And Cons Of Microchip Implants
Microchip Implants Microchips inside of our bodies are starting to become less like science fiction
and more like reality as the world's technology increases in capability. This idea comes from a
technology company based in Wisconsin called Three Squares Market who has been embedding
microchips into the area between employees thumbs and index fingers in order to increase ease of
service by allowing the chipped people to be able to get in and out of the building, buy food, etc. all
at the swipe of their hand. The concept is very appealing and seems like a good idea, it could also be
put into colleges and other schooling institutions. I would agree to be microchipped because it
allows ease of access, it will check my accountability, and because there is no threat of having my
location exposed every hour.
One reason as to why I would agree to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"...Track the length of employees' bathroom or lunch breaks...(Astor)" This feature would work well
in the workplace because in a business environment, the employees need to be checked so that they
are not just wasting time and being unproductive with their time. Having the lunch and bathroom
breaks tracked (although many people may see it as an invasion of privacy) will increase
productivity by so much because when people know that they are being watched, they behave better,
for example, when there are security cameras all over a store, criminals are less likely to steal. This
feature could translate into the college environment because it will make the students think twice
whenever they want to take a two hour nap during their lunch break or get on their phones and stay
in the bathroom for tens of minutes. Although I like being unproductive with my time, microchips
can help me become a better student. Microchips are a good idea because it will increase the

Persuasive Essay On Dental Implant Surgery
For patients who are missing teeth and looking for a permanent solution, dental implants are the best
option. An implant acts just like a real tooth, preventing bone loss and protecting the surrounding
teeth and gum tissue. However, the only way to place dental implants involves oral surgery and that
can be intimidating for many patients. The dentists at Kaimuki Dental Group LLP, in Honolulu, HI
understand your concerns and are here with some suggestions to make your dental implant surgery a
successful one.
Here are three ways to prepare and care for dental implants:
Nutrition & Hydration: How much you eat or drink before your surgery depends on the type of
sedation you've chosen. For local anesthesia, there aren't any restrictions on eating

Bilateral And Unilateral Cochlear Implants On Speech...
Abstract Bilateral and unilateral cochlear implantation are popular mode of assistance to those with
severe to profound hearing impairments. The research on the effects of bilateral and unilateral
cochlear implants continues to grow. However, the effect of bilateral cochlear implants versus
unilateral cochlear implants on speech perception has been researched under limited criteria, such as
in the presence of quiet only. There is minimal current research regarding the effects of bilateral and
unilateral cochlear implants on speech perception in the presence of noise. This study represents
quasi–experimental research that compares the effects of bilateral cochlear implants to unilateral
cochlear implants on speech perception in the presence of noise. The hypothesis was that bilateral
cochlear implants would be more effective compared to unilateral cochlear implants in regards to
speech perception in noise. Forty young adults participated in this study. Twenty subjects were
bilateral cochlear implant users (CI–CI) and the other 20 subjects were unilateral cochlear implant
users (CI–Only). Both groups were administered two speech perception in noise tests to determine
the efficacy of having two cochlear implants versus one. The results of this study indicated that
bilateral cochlear implants were more effective in comparison to unilateral cochlear implants in
regards to speech perception in noise. Therefore, the results supported the hypothesis that bilateral

Have you lost some or all of your teeth? Are you trying to decide whether getting dentures or dental
implants will work better for you? Here are some of the advantages of each choice:
Dentures may cost less: With dentures, it's simply a matter of your dentist making a mold of your
gums and then creating dentures that will fit that mold. On the other hand, dental implants do
require surgery. Because of the cost of anesthesia, the surgery itself and various other associated
fees, the cost to have dental implants added can be higher than your first set of dentures would be.
Dentures don't require surgery: If you still have most, or even some of your teeth, having dental
implants may not be the best option. Your natural teeth may be in the way

Medical Technology, Doctors, And Patients
Audience:People in the medical technology industry, doctors, and patients in need of prosthetics,
augmentations, or implants.
Rhetorical Situation: A doctor prescribes an MRI non–compatible implant like a pacemaker because
it is cheaper for the patient in the moment. However, in the long run this will cost more to keep
maintained, and is obviously harder to monitor. It also creates an issue for any other medical
problems that might arise which need MRI scanning. A doctor could, in this case, advocate for a
more advanced implant rather than the cheapest option for the patient or the first option. Doctors
should be advocating for higher technology, and not immediate cost effectiveness. Sometimes the
harder decisions are the better ones in the long run. For instance, a woman who had only half of her
foot amputated due to injury opted to amputate more of her leg due to years of discomfort with her
old prosthetic. Her life experience improved drastically with the advanced prosthetic.

Hearing Loss and Cochlear Implants
Over 360 million people or about five percent of the world population have disabling hearing loss
(Deafness). Disabling hearing loss refers to hearing loss greater than 40 decibels for adults and a
hearing loss of greater than 30 decibels for children (Deafness). 40 decibels is equivalent to the tune
of a refrigerator humming. Although hearing loss can be mild, moderate, severe, or profound ––
there are numerous ways of improving the damaged hearing (Deafness). The most common ways
are through hearing aids and cochlear implants. Cochlear implants is a type of implanted electronic
hearing device; it is designed to produce hearing sensations that are useful to a person with profound
nerve deafness Cochlear Implants –€“ Facts). The device is more ideal for people who cannot
benefit substantially with the help of hearing aids (Cochlear Implants –€“ Facts). Today, over
219,00 people are using Cochlear Implants (Cochlear Implants, Baylor). The technology used in
cochlear implants is more complex and improves hearing and communication skills drastically.
Despite cochlear implants having many disadvantages, there are more benefits that will help towards
improving hearing loss.
The research of hearing loss first started in 1950 (Cochlear Implants –€“ Facts). It was discovered
that hearing could be obtained by directly inserting an array of electrodes into the cochlea of a
patient with profound deafness. It took another 30 years of research before the implant was

Analysis Of Microchip Implant And Its Impact On Securing...
Introduction to Microchip Implant Microchip implant is an exceptionally well thought
authentication method that has the possibility of making a huge impact in securing information. The
concept of microchip implant was introduced in 1945 by Leon Theremin, who was the originator of
one of the first covert devices which is also known as "bugs". This device is followed by Radio
frequency identification (RFID) technology which is a small electronic device that contains a chip.
This chips allows the ability to store data typically ranging up to 2,000 bytes or less. RFID is
comparable to magnetic strips or bar codes because they all act as a unique identifier for a specific
purpose. In order to obtain information from an RFID, you must scan the device just as how a
magnetic strip or bar code would require scanning. RFID can also be described as the wireless non–
contact use of radio–frequency electromagnetic fields that helps in transferring data with the goal of
being able to automatically recognize and monitor tags that are being attached to objects. RFID
technology is currently being used by many different industries varying from identifications badges
that enclose RFID tags that assist with eliminating the chances of shoplifting, to vehicles using the
technology to help monitor the production process and track the vehicles across the assembly line.
Other scenarios that may use the microchip implant includes animals having RFID tags placed in
them for identification purposes as

Should The Microchip Implants Be Implemented?
Some questions that everyone must ask about the microchip implants is, how will this technology be
implemented? Will it be mandatory or a choice? Who will be in control of the device? And is it a
medically sound device? The answer to the first question is a two part answer the first part being
that the RFID chip is not a new concept the implementation of this device has already begun. People
should be made aware that for a number of years now they have been getting the public acclimated
to the idea of the microchip implants in ways such as offering them as a means to track lost pets and
wandering livestock so first and foremost the primary use of the device is to track. They have since
moved on to other means of utilizing the chip, they are now slowly rolling out credit and debit cards
that contain the RFID chip technology, which controls the access to your funds so as said before the
concept is not new it has been a work in progress. Now as to how it will transition from a device put
in animal and credit/debit card to one that is placed in the body of human beings, one need only look
at how the device is now being marketed and whom the device is being marketed to. Currently as
things stand, it seems that the microchip implant will be implemented as a medical device or a least
it is being marketed as such "VeriChip the subsidiary of the company Applied Digital Solution, is
the only official distributor of the FDA approved human–implantable RFID microchips, market their

Implant Maintenance
Dental providers are seeing more patients with implant supported prostheses during maintenance
therapy. This trend is only going to increase in the future as more dentists are offering implant
therapies in their practices and more patients are keen to accept implant therapy than a conventional
fixed partial denture or removable partial denture. Routine maintenance therapy is crucial for
preserving the peri–implant health. Anatomy of dental implant supported prostheses (Diagram from

If an infection or an inflammation is present, the providers will have to develop a treatment plan.
The treatment plan may include non–surgical therapy, possible antibiotics, shortening recare
intervals, and a referral for a specialist evaluation. Current protocol for probing around the implant
has been somewhat controversial but the consensus seems to be that it is safe to probe the implant
without disrupting the perimucosal seal. An experienced practitioner should be able to probe dental
implants without continual perforation of the weak seal. Inflammation is a critical factor that
determines whether an intervention will be required. Although many etiological factors exist, the
most common cause of inflammation around dental implants is excess cement that was not removed
during crown cementation. Cement may create inflammation even after dormant for many months.
Merticulous attempts to remove excess cement need to be practiced. Another source of the peri
implant inflammation is ill–fitting supra–structures.

Our teeth are a very important part of our body and there are many different things that can go
wrong with them. There are a lot of ways that teeth can become chipped or broken to where they fall
out. When someone you lose a tooth or a tooth in your mouth needs to be replaced, you have many
different options such as a bridge or dentures.
Another option you have, that many people choose, is dental implants. This is one of the best
options when it comes to needing a replacement for your teeth or tooth. There are many advantages
to getting these implants. However, before we get into ways that you will benefit from getting this
procedure done, you need to know what these implants really are and different ways they will help

You don't want to get dental implants before you know the important facts.
What You Need to Know
#1: You Will Pay More For Implants Than Other Tooth Solutions. This is one of the main reasons
that people choose to not get dental implants. They can cost you a pretty penny! Most dental offices
do not allow insurance to cover dental implants.
Most of the time, to have a dental implant, you will pay around $2,000 for one tooth. That doesn't
include the cost of a crown though, which could end up running you another $1,000.
#2: Is the Cost Worth It? Many people say yes! It is worth it. These implants are better to get than
dentures and bridges.
–Dentures give many people problems due to them not fitting in the mouth correctly and some have
a hard time getting them to in their mouths. Not to mention they can cause you to taste things a lot
differently.
–Having a bridge put in your teeth can cause the two teeth that are being adjoined to decay faster
and become much weaker. This can be very dangerous for those two teeth and it can be a waste of
time and

Technology Is Not Science Fiction
Implanted with a Chip People today are enamored with the idea of having the latest, coolest
technologies in their possession, and no matter what comes down the pipeline they will do whatever
it takes to get their hands on it. What would someone do if they found out that there was a piece of
technology that would allow them to unlock their car with the palm of their hand, and start the car
with that same hand just by touching the steering wheel. How about if they could go to the bank and
withdraw money from their account without ever having to pull out their debit card or any form of
identification. Now how about this, someone goes to the grocery store fills their cart with everything
on their shopping list, and then exits the store never having stopped at the checkout counter. This
sounds like a piece of technology that people would want to get their hands on. How would people
react to find out that this piece of technology is not science fiction but indeed science fact? Although
the idea of putting microchip implants in human beings may have many valuable uses, the potential
to make life easier, and seems like the natural progression in technological advancement it should
not be taken lightly. Implanting people with microchips is undoubtedly the wrong direction in which
to take the society; the implementation of microchip implants will be the catalyst that causes
everyone to forgo their freedoms and right to privacy. The microchip implant is being marketed as a

Title: Benefits of All–On–4 Dental Implants
There are a lot of different dental treatments, and making a decision can feel overwhelming.
Sometimes, though, you just need the clear benefits to be able to take the next step. All–On–4 – or
Teeth in One Day – is one of the newest dental implant options available, and is revolutionizing
lives, and smiles, each day.
While many people think of dental implants as the next step for those wearing dentures, these
implants are a valuable treatment plan for people who have suffered dental illness, broken or
missing, teeth, or low self–esteem or confidence because of their teeth.

The titanium used for the screws and inserted into the jawbone is crucial for an implant healing
stage called osseointegration; this step means that the titanium rods fuse to the bone, helping to
maintain bone mass structure.
All–On–4s Are a Permanent Solution
Unlike dentures, which don't feel natural and must be taken out each night to be cleaned, dental
implants are permanently affixed to the bone, giving patients peace of mind in any situation. Once
the All–on–4 implant is complete, you'll continue to see your dentist on a normal, regular schedule.
Implanted teeth will never pinch or slip, won't come out, and are designed to provide years or long–
lasting dental care and comfort.
All–On–4s are Efficient
Traditional implants require a series of many appointments. From the initial exam, to the lengthy
bone grafting process to build up the base that will hold the implant screws, patients who get
traditional implants find themselves taking excess time off from work to complete the process. Once
the bone grafting process is complete, traditional implants require four to eight implants in one arch,
which requires longer surgery

Case Study On Knee Replacement
1. My mother has knee pain for many years and recently it has worsened. She has some deformity
around the knees and can barely walk more than 10–15 minutes. What should be done?
Recent worsening of chronic knee pain and deformity probably indicates that knee arthritis has
reached advanced stage i.e. the protective lining of the joint is nearly completely worn out. At this
stage, pain medication often doesn't help much. Rather, one may suffer from dangerous side effects
of prolonged pain medication therapy on heart, liver, kidney, stomach and intestines. It is
recommended that one should consult a joint specialist and get certain X–rays. If it is advanced
arthritis, then one should consider knee replacement to get rid of the problem.
2. What do you mean by knee replacement?

These valves are designed to control the direction of blood flow through the heart. The opening and
closing of these valves produce the heart beat sounds. When the heart beats, the valves close to keep
the blood form flowing backwards. The heart beats more than one hundred thousand times per day.
The valves must be able to flex, stretch and hold back pressure hundreds of million times in an
average lifetime. The mitral and aortic valves are on the left side of the heart. These are most
commonly affected by aging because the pressure is higher on this side. The right heart valves can
be damaged by infection or lung disease. Regardless of the valve damage, as they harden or weaken
they do not open properly and therefore blood flow may be blocked. Heart valve conditions may
also be congenital. Diseases such as rheumatic fever or bacterial infections may also scar or destroy
the valves. Heart valve diseases fall into two categories, stenosis and incompetence. The stenotic
heart valve prevents full opening of the valve because of the stiffened valve tissue, therefore the
heart works harder to push blood throughout the valve. The incompetent valve cause insufficient
blood circulation by permitting backflow of blood on the heart. There are two main types of
prosthetic valve designs: mechanical and bioprosthetic (tissue). Mechanical heart valves were first
implanted in 1952. Since then, over 30 different mechanical designs have originated. The

The Man That Was Used Up By Edgar Allan Poe
The concept of a man–machine mixture was widespread in science fiction before World War II. As
early as 1843, Edgar Allan Poe described a man with extensive prostheses in the short story "The
Man That Was Used Up". In 1911, Jean de la Hire introduced the Nyctalope, a science fiction hero
who was perhaps the first literary cyborg, in Le Mystère des XV (later translated as The Nyctalope
on Mars).[7][8][9] Edmond Hamilton presented space explorers with a mixture of organic and
machine parts in his novel The Comet Doom in 1928. He later featured the talking, living brain of
an old scientist, Simon Wright, floating around in a transparent case, in all the adventures of his
famous hero, Captain Future. He uses the term explicitly in the 1962 short story, "After a Judgment
Day," to describe the "mechanical analogs" called "Charlies," explaining that "[c]yborgs, they had
been called from the first one in the 1960s...cybernetic organisms." In the short story "No Woman
Born" in 1944, C. L. Moore wrote of Deirdre, a dancer, whose body was burned completely and
whose brain was placed in a faceless but beautiful and supple mechanical body.
The term was coined by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960 to refer to their conception
of an enhanced human being who could survive in extraterrestrial environments:
" For the exogenously extended organizational complex functioning as an integrated homeostatic
system unconsciously, we propose the term 'Cyborg '. – Manfred E. Clynes and

Can You Have More Than One Dental Implant Installed At Once?
Problems with missing teeth is more common than you think. In fact, 3% of adults between 20 and

to fix missing teeth once and for all, which can lead someone dental implants.
However, a potential dental implant patient may be looking to repair more than one missing tooth at

The Healing Process
Another factor to take into consideration is the overall healing process after receiving dental
implant. A patient that receives multiple implants can have a harder time getting through recovery,
which largely depends on where those implants are installed.
The total healing process can take as long as six months, and you'll need to avoid putting pressure
on your dental implants during that time. Ignoring this advice can make the healing process take
longer or potentially cause the integration to fail. If you decide to have dental implants on opposite
sides of the mouth, it will be hard to avoid chewing in a place where the dental implants have been

Some patients choose to change up their diet in order to have multiple implants installed at once.
This includes switching to softer foods that do not require chewing. Some people find the change in
how they eat to be difficult, especially if they really like eating foods that should be avoided during
recovery. Try switching your diet up before your surgrey to gauge how you will adjust during

Jack Kilby : The Creation Of The Integrated Circuit, Or...
Jack Kilby is credited for the creation of the integrated circuit, or microchip. In 1947, Kilby was
hired by Globe Union Inc. It was here that he was completing developmental work in circuitry. He
began working for Texas Instruments where he created an integrated circuit by putting together
electronic elements that had been isolated before that time (Biography.com Editors). In March of
1959 in the New York Coliseum, Kilby presented the chip at the Institute of Radio Engineers' annual
trade. This invention helped to make products that seem like they would come straight from a
science fiction movie a reality. Personal computers, the Internet, or even a handheld calculator
would not be possible without Kilby's invention (Kaplan 2009). More ... Show more content on

Human microchip implants are not as common as animal implants, but they could become the next
big thing in the future. Professor Kevin Warwick was the first person to experiment with putting
implants into humans. In August 1998, he had a chip placed into his arm. This implant allowed him
to open doors turn lights and heaters off and on, and could operate computers without using his
hands (Project Cyborg 1.0 n.d.). While this experiment only lasted nine

Summary: Care Of Screw Retained Implants
Care of Screw Retained Implant Denture
1. Taking care of your implants is just as important as your natural teeth. Just like your natural teeth,
there are no guarantees that you will keep them forever. You have to take care of them. They are
susceptible to bacteria, infection, and bone loss, if not properly cared for. You have made a large
investment in dental implants, and it is an investment worth caring for.
2. One of the best things about implants is that they cannot decay like natural teeth. However, the
metal surfaces of the implant connector pieces are very susceptible to plaque build up, which can
happen fast if not cleaned regularly and thoroughly. This plaque provides a "safe house" of sorts for
bacteria, which can work their way

Reasons Why It's Worth Investing In Dental Implants
Why It's Worth Investing In Dental Implants
If you are looking to replace teeth that are missing, you'll have several methods at your disposal to
fix it. Unfortunately, many people decide to use dentures or bridges instead of using a dental implant
made out of titanium. Implants can be viewed as a luxury tooth replacement option, but that should
not stop you from getting them. The dental implant procedure will cost more money than traditional
procedures, but the result will be much better for you in several ways. Consider these 4 reasons why
it's worth investing in a dental implant to fix your missing teeth.
Dental Implants Will Last A Long Time
Traditional methods, like dentures and bridges, can require replacement or repair every few years. ...

The post permanently fuses with the bone that surrounds the post, and causes the implant to be
secure. The bond helps you avoid dealing with things like adhesives or re–adjustments, and gives
you more confidence when speaking and eating since an implant won't slip out of place.
Dental Implants Don't Require Special Cleaning
The problem with dentures is that you must remove them to give them a good cleaning, and it
requires using a special kind of denture cleaner to do it. If you do not follow the specific cleaning
instructions outlined by your dentist, it can result in the dentures having an odor. The great thing
about dental implants is that there are no special cleaning instructions. You simply brush them as if
they are completely natural teeth. The tooth may be fake, but cleaning them is essential to maintain
healthy gums that hold the implant in place.
Dental Implants Will Preserve Your Surrounding Teeth
The biggest benefit of having a dental implant is that the titanium post helps stimulate your gums
just like a natural tooth. This does not happen with dentures or bridges. Without the stimulation, the
gums start to lose their strength, which can affect the teeth that surround the gap. An implant will
help prevent bone loss from occurring in that area, keeping the surrounding teeth

Biomechanical Summary
This article brings up evidence that argues for the ineffective use of Insoles. It shows evidence from
a biomechanics professor, Dr. Nigg, saying they only correct problems in the short term and only for
select athletes. 1 In contrast a professor goes on to say that biomechanics may not fully understand
"how orthotics work".1 Supporters for inserts try to argue that they are effective based upon the
person. The co–owner of Hersco Ortho lab said "they do work, but choosing the right one requires a
great deal of care".1 There seems to be a contrast to this statement though, based on evidence in the
article. One study found that when individuals were able to pick which insert they wanted, based on
comfort, there were half as many injuries when

Pros And Cons Of Microchip Implant
In recent discovery by the NBC News humans of the US are predicted to be tagged with microchips.
This medical chip is said to track medical health for every American. According to the reports, the
technology is forced to ask serious questions towards the statement "I am who I say I am." A human
microchip implant is an identifying device or an RFID transponder encased in a small glass and
implanted in a human being. RFID stands for radio frequency identification. The chip is not battery
powered, powered instead by a reader that pulls information out of the chip. The sub–dermal
implant contains a unique ID number that can be cross references it to a database and linked to
information contained in an external database, such as personal identification, ... Show more content

RFID chips are found in lots of things we use every day, credit cards, pet trackers, to everyday
phones, also connecting with phone apps. Even creepier, the microchip is also found in the
technology that is currently at Disney World's MagicBand, which tracks a wearer's location within
the park and connects to that person's accounts for the parks amusement rides. One fact about the
RFID microchip is that it was not the first microchip to be approved. A company called VeriChip
actually got approved by the FDA to market an implant back in 2004. The implant was designed to
carry a unique ID number that hospitals could use to pull up a patient's medical records if he or she
were unconscious; however, the chip was discontinued in 2010 over privacy concerns with HIPPA.
Even if the microchip is roughly the shape and size of a grain of rice and works like a tiny computer,
even the tiny computer can catch a virus just as a regular computer today can. The chances of
identity theft becoming more and more common will increase dramatically. Also with a microchip
being so small and fragile it would make it easier for damaged, even more so for those who have
jobs that require hands on. Our number rule in the medical field is the patient's privacy; with the
microchip approved it will only make it our number

Essay about Human Microchip Implants
As the complexity and convenience of technology increases, some of the new advancements such as
microchip implant for humans and animals can be very controversial. At first, the implants may
seem to have benefits but in the long run they will actually cause more trouble than they are worth.
These potential "troublemakers" are about the size of an elongated grain of rice and are injected in
the skin under the arm or hand (Feder, Zeller 15). The chip is not powered by battery and there is
nothing that can possibly leak out into the body (Posada–Swafford 8). An early form of this
technology was used to monitor salmon and has been used for other wildlife research (Verhovek 5).
The idea of the chips was started from the September 11 tragedy ... Show more content on

Maybe the low cost has something to do with the steady rise in pet implants. Another contributing
factor to the rise in chips is that many animal shelters around the country have the chips put in the
animals when they are adopted (Verhovek 5). For example, the entire city of Los Angeles, which has
one of the highest numbers of stray pets in the nation, requires that all stray pets found must have
the microchip put in their shoulder (Lubell 13). The first animal shelter in the United States to have
all their adopted animals implanted with the chips was the Marin Humane Society in Northern
California (Verhovek 5). Contrary to common belief, the tags in the pets are not tracking devices
like the ones put in wildlife. Instead, they have a code that when scanned through a computer brings
up information about the pet, including who the owners are. However, years ago the scanner used to
read the chips in pets could not read the chip if it was made by a different company (Lubell 13).
Now, universal scanners have been implemented that read all different brands of chips. The chips in
pets are not only used here in the United States, but also in many other countries around the globe.
For example, any pet traveling to Britain and France must have a microchip" (Lubell 13). Because

An Overview Of Two Procedures For Dental Implant Bone Augmentation
If you lost a tooth due to gum disease, trauma, or cavities, it can eventually cause bone loss in the
area of the missing tooth. This will make getting dental implants complicated, because your jawbone
will lack the proper amount of bone depth and width required to support your new implant. When
this happens, a dentist will need to perform a bone augmentation procedure. It will help add stability
to what will eventually be the foundation for your dental implant and the false tooth that attaches to
it.
A dentist will recommend the best procedure for bone augmentation based on your personal
situation. Here is an overview of two procedures that your dentist will choose from.

All–on–4 dental implants are a variation of traditional dental implants that don't require an implant
for every tooth. Four implants are placed in your jaw and attached to a full set of dentures or a
bridge. All–on–4 dental implants do a great job of making sure that the muscle and bone in your jaw
stay intact, that your facial structure is maintained, and that wrinkles don't develop prematurely. The
last thing people want is to accelerate the aging process by not replacing missing teeth. Also, people
will think you don't care about your personal health because you have let your oral health decline to
the point where your appearance is affected.

One of the main issues brought up in putting this sort of product out to the public is the privacy
issue. There is somebody who knows where the user is, every second of every day. With this, great
deal of privacy and security is at risk. This kind of knowledge is very tempting for those who may
not have the best intentions. Management may misuse or sell the information that the product
provides. People have almost no protection from businesses that want to use your personal records
for profit, so who is to stop them from doing it? The GPA can be used to develop precisely targeted
information concerning thier personal habits. Hackers also may be able to access information for
their own personal gain. Another issue brought up is the reliance on databases. A slight error in the
information can have a major effect on somebody's life. It is extremely difficult to detect inaccurate
information in databases. There have been many cases of database errors ruining people's lives. Is it
right to record somebody's personal information when there is room for human error?

Pros And Cons Of Microchip Implants

  • 1. Pros And Cons Of Microchip Implants Microchip Implants Microchips inside of our bodies are starting to become less like science fiction and more like reality as the world's technology increases in capability. This idea comes from a technology company based in Wisconsin called Three Squares Market who has been embedding microchips into the area between employees thumbs and index fingers in order to increase ease of service by allowing the chipped people to be able to get in and out of the building, buy food, etc. all at the swipe of their hand. The concept is very appealing and seems like a good idea, it could also be put into colleges and other schooling institutions. I would agree to be microchipped because it allows ease of access, it will check my accountability, and because there is no threat of having my location exposed every hour. One reason as to why I would agree to get ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "...Track the length of employees' bathroom or lunch breaks...(Astor)" This feature would work well in the workplace because in a business environment, the employees need to be checked so that they are not just wasting time and being unproductive with their time. Having the lunch and bathroom breaks tracked (although many people may see it as an invasion of privacy) will increase productivity by so much because when people know that they are being watched, they behave better, for example, when there are security cameras all over a store, criminals are less likely to steal. This feature could translate into the college environment because it will make the students think twice whenever they want to take a two hour nap during their lunch break or get on their phones and stay in the bathroom for tens of minutes. Although I like being unproductive with my time, microchips can help me become a better student. Microchips are a good idea because it will increase the effectiveness of employees and ... Ceramic Presentation Essay Criteria Value(points) Pain 44 Function 47 Absence of Deformity 4 Range of Motion 5 Materials: Materials considerations are for the stem, femoral head, and acetabular components. (https://goo.gl/5dxRlv)The 3 main materials used in hip replacements are ceramics, (highly) cross linked polyethylene, and metal. (https://goo.gl/8NuqKf) Ceramic on polyethylene(CoP) is the second commonest hip implant type accounting for 26.1% of bearing types in total hip replacements in England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of man. (https://goo.gl/FSfzVW)Ceramic is the material most often used for young patients with an active lifestyle. (https://goo.gl/F9iz7F) Studies have shown that Ceramic implants are best for active patients that are expected to place more load cycles on the prosthesis more frequently due to the low corrosion level of ceramics. (https://goo.gl/tVdfi1) Early ceramics were known to fracture easily, this has been improved since using better manufacturing methods. (https://goo.gl/NdYctC)Modern ceramic on ceramic implants have been found to squeak in 2.7% of patients. Possible factors include malpositioning, however no definitive answers have been found. • 5. Persuasive Essay On Dental Implant Surgery For patients who are missing teeth and looking for a permanent solution, dental implants are the best option. An implant acts just like a real tooth, preventing bone loss and protecting the surrounding teeth and gum tissue. However, the only way to place dental implants involves oral surgery and that can be intimidating for many patients. The dentists at Kaimuki Dental Group LLP, in Honolulu, HI understand your concerns and are here with some suggestions to make your dental implant surgery a successful one. Here are three ways to prepare and care for dental implants: Nutrition & Hydration: How much you eat or drink before your surgery depends on the type of sedation you've chosen. • 7. Bilateral And Unilateral Cochlear Implants On Speech... Abstract Bilateral and unilateral cochlear implantation are popular mode of assistance to those with severe to profound hearing impairments. The research on the effects of bilateral and unilateral cochlear implants continues to grow. However, the effect of bilateral cochlear implants versus unilateral cochlear implants on speech perception has been researched under limited criteria, such as in the presence of quiet only. There is minimal current research regarding the effects of bilateral and unilateral cochlear implants on speech perception in the presence of noise. This study represents quasi–experimental research that compares the effects of bilateral cochlear implants to unilateral cochlear implants on speech perception in the presence of noise. The hypothesis was that bilateral cochlear implants would be more effective compared to unilateral cochlear implants in regards to speech perception in noise. Forty young adults participated in this study. Twenty subjects were bilateral cochlear implant users (CI–CI) and the other 20 subjects were unilateral cochlear implant users (CI–Only). Both groups were administered two speech perception in noise tests to determine the efficacy of having two cochlear implants versus one. The results of this study indicated that bilateral cochlear implants were more effective in comparison to unilateral cochlear implants in regards to speech perception in noise. Therefore, the results supported the hypothesis that bilateral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Dental Vs Dental Research Paper Have you lost some or all of your teeth? Are you trying to decide whether getting dentures or dental implants will work better for you? Here are some of the advantages of each choice: Dentures may cost less: With dentures, it's simply a matter of your dentist making a mold of your gums and then creating dentures that will fit that mold. On the other hand, dental implants do require surgery. Because of the cost of anesthesia, the surgery itself and various other associated fees, the cost to have dental implants added can be higher than your first set of dentures would be. Dentures don't require surgery: If you still have most, or even some of your teeth, having dental implants may not be the best option. Your natural teeth may be in the way ... • 11. Medical Technology, Doctors, And Patients Audience:People in the medical technology industry, doctors, and patients in need of prosthetics, augmentations, or implants. Rhetorical Situation: A doctor prescribes an MRI non–compatible implant like a pacemaker because it is cheaper for the patient in the moment. However, in the long run this will cost more to keep maintained, and is obviously harder to monitor. It also creates an issue for any other medical problems that might arise which need MRI scanning. A doctor could, in this case, advocate for a more advanced implant rather than the cheapest option for the patient or the first option. Doctors should be advocating for higher technology, and not immediate cost effectiveness. Sometimes the harder decisions are the better ones in the long run. For instance, a woman who had only half of her foot amputated due to injury opted to amputate more of her leg due to years of discomfort with her old prosthetic. Her life experience improved drastically with the advanced prosthetic. Jessica Bentley ENG102 11–16–2016 Medical technology consists of a wide–scope of machines and devices helping people live, and live better each day. Prosthetics, implants and augmentation devices are just a couple types of these machines that are advancing, and moving towards a nearly humanistic style, in function and appearance. A number of outcomes were identified in relation to lower limb prosthetic prescription. Many of these were related to physical outcomes, such as balance and safety and not ... • 13. Hearing Loss and Cochlear Implants Over 360 million people or about five percent of the world population have disabling hearing loss (Deafness). Disabling hearing loss refers to hearing loss greater than 40 decibels for adults and a hearing loss of greater than 30 decibels for children (Deafness). 40 decibels is equivalent to the tune of a refrigerator humming. Although hearing loss can be mild, moderate, severe, or profound –– there are numerous ways of improving the damaged hearing (Deafness). The most common ways are through hearing aids and cochlear implants. Cochlear implants is a type of implanted electronic hearing device; it is designed to produce hearing sensations that are useful to a person with profound nerve deafness Cochlear Implants –€“ Facts). The device is more ideal for people who cannot benefit substantially with the help of hearing aids (Cochlear Implants –€“ Facts). Today, over 219,00 people are using Cochlear Implants (Cochlear Implants, Baylor). The technology used in cochlear implants is more complex and improves hearing and communication skills drastically. Despite cochlear implants having many disadvantages, there are more benefits that will help towards improving hearing loss. The research of hearing loss first started in 1950 (Cochlear Implants –€“ Facts). It was discovered that hearing could be obtained by directly inserting an array of electrodes into the cochlea of a patient with profound deafness. It took another 30 years of research before the implant was commercially ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Analysis Of Microchip Implant And Its Impact On Securing... Introduction to Microchip Implant Microchip implant is an exceptionally well thought authentication method that has the possibility of making a huge impact in securing information. The concept of microchip implant was introduced in 1945 by Leon Theremin, who was the originator of one of the first covert devices which is also known as "bugs". This device is followed by Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology which is a small electronic device that contains a chip. This chips allows the ability to store data typically ranging up to 2,000 bytes or less. RFID is comparable to magnetic strips or bar codes because they all act as a unique identifier for a specific purpose. In order to obtain information from an RFID, you must scan the device just as how a magnetic strip or bar code would require scanning. RFID can also be described as the wireless non– contact use of radio–frequency electromagnetic fields that helps in transferring data with the goal of being able to automatically recognize and monitor tags that are being attached to objects. RFID technology is currently being used by many different industries varying from identifications badges that enclose RFID tags that assist with eliminating the chances of shoplifting, to vehicles using the technology to help monitor the production process and track the vehicles across the assembly line. Other scenarios that may use the microchip implant includes animals having RFID tags placed in them for identification purposes as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Should The Microchip Implants Be Implemented? Some questions that everyone must ask about the microchip implants is, how will this technology be implemented? Will it be mandatory or a choice? Who will be in control of the device? And is it a medically sound device? The answer to the first question is a two part answer the first part being that the RFID chip is not a new concept the implementation of this device has already begun. People should be made aware that for a number of years now they have been getting the public acclimated to the idea of the microchip implants in ways such as offering them as a means to track lost pets and wandering livestock so first and foremost the primary use of the device is to track. They have since moved on to other means of utilizing the chip, they are now slowly rolling out credit and debit cards that contain the RFID chip technology, which controls the access to your funds so as said before the concept is not new it has been a work in progress. Now as to how it will transition from a device put in animal and credit/debit card to one that is placed in the body of human beings, one need only look at how the device is now being marketed and whom the device is being marketed to. Currently as things stand, it seems that the microchip implant will be implemented as a medical device or a least it is being marketed as such "VeriChip the subsidiary of the company Applied Digital Solution, is the only official distributor of the FDA approved human–implantable RFID microchips, market their ... This trend is only going to increase in the future as more dentists are offering implant therapies in their practices and more patients are keen to accept implant therapy than a conventional fixed partial denture or removable partial denture. Routine maintenance therapy is crucial for preserving the peri–implant health. The treatment plan may include non–surgical therapy, possible antibiotics, shortening recare intervals, and a referral for a specialist evaluation. Current protocol for probing around the implant has been somewhat controversial but the consensus seems to be that it is safe to probe the implant without disrupting the perimucosal seal. An experienced practitioner should be able to probe dental implants without continual perforation of the weak seal. Inflammation is a critical factor that determines whether an intervention will be required. Although many etiological factors exist, the most common cause of inflammation around dental implants is excess cement that was not removed during crown cementation. Cement may create inflammation even after dormant for many months. Merticulous attempts to remove excess cement need to be practiced. What You Need to Know #1: You Will Pay More For Implants Than Other Tooth Solutions. This is one of the main reasons that people choose to not get dental implants. They can cost you a pretty penny! Most dental offices do not allow insurance to cover dental implants. Most of the time, to have a dental implant, you will pay around $2,000 for one tooth. That doesn't include the cost of a crown though, which could end up running you another $1,000. #2: Is the Cost Worth It? Many people say yes! It is worth it. These implants are better to get than dentures and bridges. –Dentures give many people problems due to them not fitting in the mouth correctly and some have a hard time getting them to in their mouths. Not to mention they can cause you to taste things a lot differently. –Having a bridge put in your teeth can cause the two teeth that are being adjoined to decay faster and become much weaker. • 24. Technology Is Not Science Fiction Implanted with a Chip People today are enamored with the idea of having the latest, coolest technologies in their possession, and no matter what comes down the pipeline they will do whatever it takes to get their hands on it. What would someone do if they found out that there was a piece of technology that would allow them to unlock their car with the palm of their hand, and start the car with that same hand just by touching the steering wheel. How about if they could go to the bank and withdraw money from their account without ever having to pull out their debit card or any form of identification. Now how about this, someone goes to the grocery store fills their cart with everything on their shopping list, and then exits the store never having stopped at the checkout counter. This sounds like a piece of technology that people would want to get their hands on. How would people react to find out that this piece of technology is not science fiction but indeed science fact? Although the idea of putting microchip implants in human beings may have many valuable uses, the potential to make life easier, and seems like the natural progression in technological advancement it should not be taken lightly. Implanting people with microchips is undoubtedly the wrong direction in which to take the society; the implementation of microchip implants will be the catalyst that causes everyone to forgo their freedoms and right to privacy. What should be done? Recent worsening of chronic knee pain and deformity probably indicates that knee arthritis has reached advanced stage i.e. the protective lining of the joint is nearly completely worn out. At this stage, pain medication often doesn't help much. Rather, one may suffer from dangerous side effects of prolonged pain medication therapy on heart, liver, kidney, stomach and intestines. It is recommended that one should consult a joint specialist and get certain X–rays. If it is advanced arthritis, then one should consider knee replacement to get rid of the problem. 2. The opening and closing of these valves produce the heart beat sounds. When the heart beats, the valves close to keep the blood form flowing backwards. The heart beats more than one hundred thousand times per day. The valves must be able to flex, stretch and hold back pressure hundreds of million times in an average lifetime. The mitral and aortic valves are on the left side of the heart. These are most commonly affected by aging because the pressure is higher on this side. The right heart valves can be damaged by infection or lung disease. Regardless of the valve damage, as they harden or weaken they do not open properly and therefore blood flow may be blocked. Heart valve conditions may also be congenital. Diseases such as rheumatic fever or bacterial infections may also scar or destroy the valves. Heart valve diseases fall into two categories, stenosis and incompetence. The stenotic heart valve prevents full opening of the valve because of the stiffened valve tissue, therefore the heart works harder to push blood throughout the valve. The incompetent valve cause insufficient blood circulation by permitting backflow of blood on the heart. There are two main types of prosthetic valve designs: mechanical and bioprosthetic (tissue). Mechanical heart valves were first implanted in 1952. Since then, over 30 different mechanical designs have originated. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Proximal femoral osteotomies following SCFE aim to restore more normal anatomy, improve function and reduce the morbidity and complications of pain, reduced range of movement, early arthritis and leg length discrepancy (3). Up to 50% of involved hips do well with no intervention but these hips are always at risk of developing secondary arthritis and similarly adult hip joints of patients with SCFE are more prone to develop advanced osteoarthritis (5). • 35. The Man That Was Used Up By Edgar Allan Poe The concept of a man–machine mixture was widespread in science fiction before World War II. As early as 1843, Edgar Allan Poe described a man with extensive prostheses in the short story "The Man That Was Used Up". In 1911, Jean de la Hire introduced the Nyctalope, a science fiction hero who was perhaps the first literary cyborg, in Le Mystère des XV (later translated as The Nyctalope on Mars).[7][8][9] Edmond Hamilton presented space explorers with a mixture of organic and machine parts in his novel The Comet Doom in 1928. He later featured the talking, living brain of an old scientist, Simon Wright, floating around in a transparent case, in all the adventures of his famous hero, Captain Future. He uses the term explicitly in the 1962 short story, "After a Judgment Day," to describe the "mechanical analogs" called "Charlies," explaining that "[c]yborgs, they had been called from the first one in the 1960s...cybernetic organisms." In the short story "No Woman Born" in 1944, C. L. Moore wrote of Deirdre, a dancer, whose body was burned completely and whose brain was placed in a faceless but beautiful and supple mechanical body. The term was coined by Manfred E. Clynes and Nathan S. Kline in 1960 to refer to their conception of an enhanced human being who could survive in extraterrestrial environments: " For the exogenously extended organizational complex functioning as an integrated homeostatic system unconsciously, we propose the term 'Cyborg '. – Manfred E. They are susceptible to bacteria, infection, and bone loss, if not properly cared for. You have made a large investment in dental implants, and it is an investment worth caring for. 2. One of the best things about implants is that they cannot decay like natural teeth. Dental Implants Don't Require Special Cleaning The problem with dentures is that you must remove them to give them a good cleaning, and it requires using a special kind of denture cleaner to do it. If you do not follow the specific cleaning instructions outlined by your dentist, it can result in the dentures having an odor. The great thing about dental implants is that there are no special cleaning instructions. You simply brush them as if they are completely natural teeth. The tooth may be fake, but cleaning them is essential to maintain healthy gums that hold the implant in place. Dental Implants Will Preserve Your Surrounding Teeth The biggest benefit of having a dental implant is that the titanium post helps stimulate your gums just like a natural tooth. Even creepier, the microchip is also found in the technology that is currently at Disney World's MagicBand, which tracks a wearer's location within the park and connects to that person's accounts for the parks amusement rides. One fact about the RFID microchip is that it was not the first microchip to be approved. A company called VeriChip actually got approved by the FDA to market an implant back in 2004. The implant was designed to carry a unique ID number that hospitals could use to pull up a patient's medical records if he or she were unconscious; however, the chip was discontinued in 2010 over privacy concerns with HIPPA. Essay about Human Microchip Implants As the complexity and convenience of technology increases, some of the new advancements such as microchip implant for humans and animals can be very controversial. At first, the implants may seem to have benefits but in the long run they will actually cause more trouble than they are worth. These potential "troublemakers" are about the size of an elongated grain of rice and are injected in the skin under the arm or hand (Feder, Zeller 15). The chip is not powered by battery and there is nothing that can possibly leak out into the body (Posada–Swafford 8). An early form of this technology was used to monitor salmon and has been used for other wildlife research (Verhovek 5). The idea of the chips was started from the September 11 tragedy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maybe the low cost has something to do with the steady rise in pet implants. Another contributing factor to the rise in chips is that many animal shelters around the country have the chips put in the animals when they are adopted (Verhovek 5). For example, the entire city of Los Angeles, which has one of the highest numbers of stray pets in the nation, requires that all stray pets found must have the microchip put in their shoulder (Lubell 13). The first animal shelter in the United States to have all their adopted animals implanted with the chips was the Marin Humane Society in Northern California (Verhovek 5). Contrary to common belief, the tags in the pets are not tracking devices like the ones put in wildlife. Instead, they have a code that when scanned through a computer brings up information about the pet, including who the owners are. However, years ago the scanner used to read the chips in pets could not read the chip if it was made by a different company (Lubell 13). Now, universal scanners have been implemented that read all different brands of chips. The chips in pets are not only used here in the United States, but also in many other countries around the globe. For example, any pet traveling to Britain and France must have a microchip" (Lubell 13). Because of the rising ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
