This paper presents a light design which is base on the
movement of ikebana. Ikebana is an art to show the
relationship between flowers and the earth. We wants to
emphasize on the process of ikebana and the final expres-
sion of it. The cut flowers are made of Acrylic sheet which
are cut by laser cutting. We also use laser engraving to
make some patterns on them to make some special
reflection of the light from Leds. In this design, we use
arduino to achieve the interaction
3. Introduction
When we climb a high mountain, it is a process which
challenge not only our physical strength but also psycho-
logical quality. During this process, we can see that the
view in front of our eyes is changing after we have
climbed for a while. But the change of the view is not
change slightly, the nature has its own steps: broad-leaf
forests ,needle-leaved forest and tundra. All our effort will
chahge into the landscape we see. It will be so exciting
that we spared no efforts and achieved the destination.
We are inspired by this concept, and we sum up this
process into three points: First, the representation of
different situation. Second, the accumulation of devo-
tion. Last one, the special experience of destination.
We discover that the process of climbing a high moun-
tain is really similar to the process of ikebana, the culture
of flower arrangement in Japanese culture.
As a result, we use ikebana as our concept of movement,
then start to searching the material ,and wanting to
design the Interaction light which is based on this move-
ment.
The nature has its own steps.

There are three parts of this design:
flowers, cage and the base.
Materials:
We use Acrylicssheets to make the cut flowers, and use
laser engraving to make some patterns in order to make
the light reflection on the flowers.
The cage is made of lead wire because the shape of it is
free and it will not shelter the base in it.
The base is composed of clay and some circuit inside it.
The steps:
In order to realize our three points:
First, the representation of different situation.
We use Arduino to control the LEDs to be turned on by
flowers. Arranging the flower into the hole of the base we
want, will trigger the green LED.
Second, the accumulation of devotion.
People can choose the holes on two layers: first, it is the
cage made of lead wire, and the next is the hole on the
base which is inside the cage.
Last one, the special experience of destination.
After finishing arrangement of five flowers, it will trigger
another LEDs, the red LEDs under every flowers to explain
the special experience of destination.
