Miley Cyrus Lyrics Contest
Extra Credit Assignment
Guiding Question:
What important parts of Government will you take with you as you continue to
be an active citizen within our democratic society?
Task:
As an extra credit assignment, write new lyrics to the tune of “Party in the USA”
by Miley Cyrus about your experience this past semester in Government. The
lyrics must be related to topics we have learned in Government, whether it be
themes from discussions, videos, simulations, or your experience traveling the
institutions of our national government in DC.
For submitting new lyrics to this song, you can receive up to 15 extra points on a
quiz or test grade. The student whose lyrics are selected as “the best,” will receive
a 110 on a quiz or test grade. Also, I will then create a music video to the song
with the winner’s lyrics to be viewed in class the last week of school.
Process: Type your new lyrics into a new document, using the same format as the
words on the back side of this handout. Label it Extra Credit, place your name on
it, and place it into the basket at the front of the classroom by Thursday, May 6th.
