1. ENERGY EFFICIENCE, SAFETY AND ECOLOGY
Energy efficiency
• Floating buildings are equipped with latest technology to
ensure energy efficiency and the advantage of renewable energy
• Energy efficient insulators and windows are standard equipments in the houses. Ecological solar collectors
installed onto the roof can be either used for producing energy and also enable to heat driving water with low
energy consumption in summer. Applying hydro heat is recommend and will be implemented when possible.
Safety
• Unsinkable, solid floatation
• Floating solutions are designed according to local wind, wave, stream, ice and temperature conditions
• There is lot of experience of floating structures and different pontoon-projects from the heat in Dubai to frost
in the North
• Anchorage, breakwater, construction materials and other technical solutions are decided individually
according to each object and local conditions
2. ENERGY EFFICIENCE, SAFETY AND ECOLOGY
Ecology
• Floating solutions do not affect water streams and will not weaken the quality of water
• Floating houses are connected to the municipal infrastructure
• Coastal areas will remain nearly undisturbed. Compared to traditional construction, the focus
is on floating solutions and therefore is little or no need to soil preparation work, excavation
and fill placement (mainly infrastructural as parking spaces, water, electricity, sewage)
• Material and product selection will focus on life cycle sustainability, ecology and low energy
consumption. The aim is to promote sustainable development in construction
Safety of wharfs and walkways?
• Walkways are designed to be safe, pleasant and functional. Guard rails in walkways and terraces are adjusted in the scenery, and enable safe pass
and stay on the terraces for all age groups.
• Concrete surfaces are non-flammable and can be equipped with fire hydrants.
