2. Under the Chief Minister's Housing Scheme about 40 thousand affordable houses has built at a cost of Rs
Three thousand 500 crore at Naya Raipur.
3. The Chhattisgarh Housing Board has announced the building of colonies which will have concrete roads,
underground electric and street lighting.
4. Chhattisgarh Environment and Housing department has pitched for amendment of acts related to
environment conservation for making it more robust and effective.
5. For the Progress, Chhattisgarh has proposed the creation of National Environment Management Authority
(NEMA) in the Centre and State Environment Management Authority (SEMA) in states.
6. The units prepared environment management plan has implemented it effectively to improve quality of work
in Chhattisgarh.
7. The Minister further suggested imposition of heavy spot fine under Environment Law (Management) Act, so
that it works as a deterrent for violation of environment-related provisions in future.
8. The provision has made in the proposed law so that cases of serious violation where there is likelihood of
severe adverse impact on environment or on large population should only be considered by NGT or other
higher courts.
9. The maintenance of environment quality and sustainable development should be the basic objectives of the
environmental acts. Environmental acts should also act as deterrent to misuse of natural resources.
