2. Problem and Scope
• 80% of Indians live below Rs. 100 a day.
• As per 2011 data India ranks 15th in Global
Hunger Index.
• Nearly 1/3rd of India’s 120 cr. Population lives
below poverty line.
• 46.07 deaths/1,000 live births is the infant
mortality rate in India.
3. Why this cause?
• Coming from a nourished and flourished
society it becomes our duty to think about our
fellow Indians.
• India being the country possessing the
maximum youth in the world, only if we have
a good and healthy population we can be a
force to reckon with in the world.
4. Proposed Solution
• A six step solution:
Step 1: Increase buying power of people
Step 2: Special care and focus on nutrition of
pregnant women and infants and regular
vaccinations.
Step 3: Increase investments in health-care.
Step 4: Stopping black-marketing and hoarding of
food grains.
Step 5: Increasing awareness amongst public about
different government schemes like food security bill.
5. Step 6: Implement Projects like Amma Canteens
Tamilnadu to provide subsidized and nutritional
Food to only the needy having rationcards.
6. Implementation of Solutions
• Set up health-care centers in every village and
equip them with qualified professionals and
proper medical equipment.
• Create cordial relations between all the
stakeholders like central government, state
government, people living below poverty line,
health officers, Rationing store owners, etc.
7. • The transport system of grains should be
made swift, efficient, far-reaching and safe.
• The facilities for storage of grains should be
upgraded and preservation of grains should be
a priority.
• Regular quality checks of food grains at every
level of grain distribution system.
• Create a checking system to gauge traders and
government policies.
• Involvement of Public-Private Partnership.
8. Impact of the solutions
• Decrease in mortality rate.
• Decrease in expenses in health care.
• Decrease in corruption
• Overall better standard of living
9. Challenges
• Corruption in Public Distribution System
• Laid back attitude of officers and people
• Prevalent loopholes in the system since
decades
• Monetary funds
10. If all parties i.e. the involved organizations
fulfill their role to their capacity , we can
surely have a society flourishing with
nourishment by 2020.
