Management is both an art and a science
1. Management is both an art and a science, each manager has his own style of working and has to
work within the framework provided by the company. The time has gone when women were
expected to mind the house & care for children, today many women are pursuing their ambition
as excel in their roles.
Women by nature are better in multi-tasking, understand the problems of their teams better
having faced most of them themselves which men could find difficult. For instance a women
would be able to better understand the needs & concerns of an expecting employee, understand
the concerns & problems faced by them, most female employees would find it difficult to share
personal problems (both family & health related) with male supervisors. Thus, by understanding
the concerns and having faced them they are better placed to provide solutions both at personal
& professional level.
While Women Managers are better placed to understand and resolve issues for female
employees, it does not mean they fail to understand the concerns of male employees.
Women also understand the importance of work life balance and assist in developing policies
which help staff to maintain such balance in their life by curtailing the culture of over stretching
beyond expected working hours.
Women have ability to understand the emotional sensitivity of issues better – what is the impact
on people of behavior by one or another individual. They can understand impact of bullying,
harassment, discriminations better than men as many of these are usually directed towards the
fairer sex and they understand the effect it can have on people.
Yes I feel women can make good managers. I believe that talent doesn't discriminate on the basis
of gender. A good manager is one who has the qualities of planning, organizing, communicating,
directing, reporting, leadership etc. and these qualities don't depend on one's gender.
A woman is the one who manages the house and the family. So her managerial qualities can't be
doubted. As already quoted we have many examples like Pratibha Patil, Indira Gandhi who have
managed the country so well. Also we have Chanda Kocchar and Naina Lal Kidwai whose
inspiring stories motivate us. There's Preity Zinta and Ekta Kapoor who're managing their work
so well.
Thus women have proved over and over again that they are not only good at managing their
home but they can also manage an organization very well.
