Main features - The training is always non-compulsary, with the only exception of somespecific programmes: Training for school management or new teachers,and the activities are developed outside the teachers’ school timetable- It has benefits for the teachers concerning their professional career: Economic promotion, becoming a headteacher, applying for a post in another school, …….- A five-year long general plan- Yearly specific instructions

  10. 10. Objectives Increase the methodological and linguistic competences of the foreign language teachers (primary and secondary). Increase the linguistic competences of the teachers of all the other areas. Train teachers of non-linguistic areas to teach their subject in a foreign language (CLIL / EMILE)
  11. 11. Priorities Teachers in a school with a PELE project (Pla Experimental de Llengües Estrangeres) Teachers in a school with an Autonomy project where foreign languages are involved. Teachers in a school with a Comenius project h Vocational training teachers who teach their subject in a foreign language i Teachers involved in the Batxibacc project The aim is to address the continuous training programmes to schools with a project to make training an important part of the achievement of the project’s objectives

Objective 1: Foreign language teachers Main Programmes: Summer grants: Courses in Catalonia and abroad: France, Germany, Great Britain and Ireland. r Contents: Methodolgy/Language/Culture oNumber of places offered: 875 (abroad: 275) Activities within the Plans de Formació de Zona (decentralized training) (PELE 2nd and 3rd year and courses/seminars/workgroups/congresses /,…). 1,500 places

Objective 1: Foreign language teachers Specific programmes for infant and primary school teachers including methodological and linguistic contents ( 340 places) Activities organitzed by other institucions (Teachers’ associations, British / French / German Institutes,……) and approved as continuous training activities. i Activities organized by the ICE (Universities)
  14. 14. Objective 2: Teachers of other subjects The aim is to train teachers to achieve the B1 and B2 levels English courses during the school year at the official schools of languages (EOI). (Length of these courses: 130 hours, number of courses: 91 and number of teachers: 2,343) English and French courses during the summer at the EOI. (Length of these courses: 80 hours, number of courses: 35, number of teachers; 875) Grants offered in the regular EOI courses in different languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian and Russian (Length of these courses: 130 hours, number of teachers: 390) Language courses abroad in the summer. (Length of these courses: 3 weeks, 60 hours. Great Britain and France: 230 grants)

Objective 3: CLIL / EMILECLIL/EMILE Training pathway Level B2 Linguistic requirement PELE-1st year Initial and compulsory training course during the school year or in the summer (35h)PELE 2nd and 3rd year Putting the project in practice with the students Courses/Seminars: Plans de Formació de 10-Week paid-study leaves Zona / Exchanging experiences / Class materials production Contrasting pedagogic materials Workgroups These teachers work as teacher trainers (Producing new pedagogic materials) in presentations/PELE training/workshops/---

Objective 3: CLIL / EMILE 10-week paid leaves Aims: - Write CLIL / EMILE materials - Know more about the CLIL / EMILE methodology - Linguistic improvement 40 teachers every year Different gropus for primary and secondary teachers Groups in the first term (oct / dec.) and the second term (jan / march) Requirements: - Schools with a CLIL / EMILE project The produced materials are available on the Department’s website
