The Z1 is a low-power wireless sensor network module that aims to reduce development time for researchers and developers. It is backwards compatible with the Tmote platform but has improvements like faster wake up times. It has enhanced hardware like an MSP430 microcontroller, 54-pin expansion connector, and support for plug-and-play Phidget sensors. The Z1 is supported by TinyOS and Contiki and has tools for programming and data visualization to facilitate easy development of wireless sensor network applications.
