Powdery mildew is a major disease of jujube (ber) trees that causes losses in fruit quantity and quality. The disease covers young leaves and developing fruits in a whitish powdery mass, leading to premature defoliation and heavy fruit drop. Infected fruits remain small and become cankered and disfigured. Bacterial fruit rot caused by Xanthomonas arboricola is another disease that affects jujube trees.
