The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated food insecurity so supporting local organizations, conscientious purchasing, voting for advocates, and raising awareness on social media can all help achieve this important goal.

Locally, there are over 20 food banks and pantries within 15 miles of UW Tacoma where individuals can volunteer or donate to help combat hunger in their own community. A mobile app could also be created to show inventory levels and hours of nearby food assistance programs to further contribute to the cause.
