1) The document summarizes the story of Zacchaeus from the Bible, in which Zacchaeus, a tax collector, climbs a tree to see Jesus. When Jesus sees Zacchaeus, he invites himself to Zacchaeus' home for a meal.
2) During the meal, Zacchaeus promises to repay anyone he has cheated four times the amount and give half his possessions to the poor, showing his desire to change. Jesus responds that salvation has come to Zacchaeus.
3) The story teaches that Jesus seeks out the lost and heals sinners, and we should be glad when lost or sinful people come closer

Mark depicts both Jesus and John the Baptist in their prophetic roles as those who disrupt and challenge the status quo. God is breaking in! His rule changes things. Mark shows us the impact of God's claims on the powerful and the weak.
Today's Message is based on The Road to Emmaus.
Luke 24:13-35
We can remember Jesus' presence in our lives by continually listen to the preaching of the Word and partaking in the Lord's Supper together
Jesus was amazed when he saw that the Roman centurion had faith, far greater than that of even the Jews... you never know where we will find the faith to be faithful
This is a study of Jesus being unorthodox. He went against the accepted rules of the Pharisees and it aggravated them to the point of wanting Him crucified.. Jesus did not come to conform but to transform.

This is a study of Jesus as a man of poise. He was calm and balanced in unsettling situations where one lacking poise could stumble into going out of God's will in actions.

First Action, Then Manifestation
You have to have action, and then you get the manifestation. I just walked back over there as if I had all kinds of power, and started praying for them again. I had to fight devils with that bunch, though. They were all messed up in their minds.
I'm telling you, where demons and devils take over places, you have to watch yourself. They will do anything they can to you. Devils will pull every trick in the book to get to you. You can't trust any of them.Remember, Jesus said,Oh, faithless generation, how long shall I be with you, how long shall I suffer you? Bring him to me.
And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.
And he [Jesus] asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him." And he said, Of a child.
And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Homily for the Funeral for the Hon. Paul A. Kapalko James Knipper
Yesterday I had the privilege of preaching at the funeral mass of a man I have known for 31 years, the Hon. Paul A. Kapalko.
Paul stayed in NJ throughout his life, earning his BA from Rutgers in '76 and his JD from Seton Hall School of Law in '79. After graduation he became a proud member of the Bar Assoc., joining the law firms of Lawson & Kapalko and Lawrence & Kapalko.
He entered local politics as an Asbury Park City Councilman in '85, serving until he was appointed to the NJ State Assembly in '89. He also served as the Manasquan Municipal Prosecutor; the Planning Board attorney for Neptune, Bradley Beach and Keyport; and the Commissioner of the Monmouth Co. Improvement Authority.
In '90 he became father to his eldest daughter, my niece, Casey, and in that same year ran for Congress. He lost the race, but two years later was appointed a Judge of the NJ Division of Worker's Compensation. He welcomed his second daughter, Christina, in '94, the same year he was promoted to Director and Chief Judge of Workers' Compensation.
In '02 he was appointed by Gov. Donald DeFrancesco to the Family Division of the Superior Court of Monmouth County. He became the Presiding Judge in '04 and then transferred to the Civil Division in '07. He worked with a clear sense of justice and understanding, and was known for his ability to settle cases before ever needing to go to trial. Admired by his peers throughout his life, he dutifully served as a Superior Court Judge for 16 years.
He was a loving father, brother, and uncle. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Edward and Rose Kapalko of Asbury Park. He is survived by his daughter Casey and her wife Stephanie Vazquez, his daughter Christina, and their mother Mary Jo (nee Knipper) McKinley all of West Long Branch. Paul is also survived by his brother Gregory and his wife Cindy, as well as their children Jamie (Jeremy Glapion) and Eddie, all of Belmar. He will be missed dearly by not only his family, but also by all whose lives he touched. He will always be remembered as a fighter and as an inspiration to all.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

2. SOME TIMES PEOPLE WANT TO GET EVEN
When something you have is broken, are you hurt or
disappointed?
What do you say?
I heard people say, “who did this?” I will find out and I will get
even!
When someone hurts us, sometimes we want to hurt
the person to get even!
Some times is hard to forgive,
There is someone to whom we can turn, whenever we
are hurt or disappointed or sad.
People knew this, when Jesus lived among them.
They were not afraid to bring their problems and sickness to
him.
3. MANY CROWDS AROUND JESUS
We can read in the Bible, that many times there were large
crowds around Jesus
THE CRIPPLE came to him, and he cured them so that they
could walk.
THE BLIND came, so they could see
Think about the Paralytic who needed the help of their
friends, to carry him to Jesus, so that he could receive his
healing touch!
To these people, and to many other whom He cured, Jesus
said: “Peace be with you. Go and sin no more.”
4. A LITTLE MAN NAME ZACCHAEUS
Today, I going to tell you a story from the Bible: a story about
the time when Jesus went to the village of Jericho.
Large crowds gathered to welcome him. They were excited to
see him!
Most especially, there was a little man name Zacchaeus, a rich
tax collector.
He tried to see Jesus but he was too small,
and the crowds were too large. He had an idea.
He ran ahead. He climbed the tree and sat in the tree to wait for
Jesus.
Can you imagine how excited he was? He would even climb a
tree, just to see Jesus!
5. JESUS CAME TO THE TREE AND TALK TO ZACCHAEUS
Pretty soon, Jesus Came to the tree, and
he looked up where Zacchaeus was.
He said, “Zacchaeus, come down from that
tree.
I wan to spend some time with you today!
I wan to talk to you.”
Zacchaeus was so excited! He never
dreamed that Jesus would want to talk to
him, and maybe even come to his home!
6. JESUS WENT TO ZACCHAEUS’ HOME
As they went to Zacchaeus’ home, the people of the village
were talking.
They were complaining about Zacchaeus, and wondering
out loud if Jesus really knew what kind of man he was.
Did Jesus know that Zacchaeus got most of him money by
cheating people?
They were talking quiet a bit!
Do you think that Jesus knew what was in the heart of
Zacchaeus?
Let us go inside and see what happens:
7. ZACCHAEUS: “I WANT TO CHANGE”
Inside, Zacchaeus had prepared a delicious meal for Jesus. They
were enjoying his meal very much.
Zacchaeus was sitting with Jesus,
when Zacchaeus finished the meal, Zacchaeus said to Jesus,
“Lord, I know that I have cheated many people. I want to change.
I promise you that I will pay back all the people whom I have
cheated: 4 times the amount of money!
And that is not all, Lord, I want to do more.
Whatever money is left after, I pay everyone back,
I want to give half of that money to the poor.”
8. HEALING AND SALVATION HAS COME TO YOU
Jesus was so happy! He said to Zacchaeus,
“Today, healing and salvation has come to you”
Now we know that Jesus meant when he said, “I
have come to seek out the lost, and to heal the
sinner.”
Jesus was happy to seek out the lost and heal
the sinner.
We should be glad that the lost or sinners
come closer to Jesus, too.
9. THE DAY OF RESURRECTION
On the night of Resurrection, the Apostles were gathered in the
room where they had the Last Super with Jesus.
They were frightened.
They didn’t know what would happen to them.
They were still talking about Jesus, their friend.
All of sudden, in the middle of the room, there He stood!
What do you think his first words would be to his friends? What
would he say?
He said to them: “Peace!
they were little frightened! They thought He was a host.
But then Jesus showed them the nail marks in his hands and the wound
in his side.
And they knew it was him! They were son happy!
10. ANY WHOSE SINS YOU WILL BE FORGIVEN
WILL BE FORGIVEN
Jesus said something very important; important for them and
important for us, too.
He said: “Just as the Father sent me, so I send you. Anyone whose
sins you will be forgiven will be forgiven.”
Jesus was asking his Apostles to continues the work that he had done in
his life and to do it with his Spirit.
Jesus was not just sending his Apostles out,
he was giving them the power to forgive sins!
A priest stole, it looks like a scarf.
It is a sign or symbol of the Priest’s power to forgive sins.
He wears it during the Sacrament of Penance or Reconciliation. It is also
part of his vestments during Mass.
11. WE NEED TO RECONCILE TO MAKE UP LIKE ZACCHAEUS DID
It is easy to believe that God loves us when we are good
and kind, isn’t it?
What about the times when we are not so good and not so
kind?
WE NEED TO RECONCILE to make up, in as loving way, like
Zacchaeus did.
Look at people around you every day, and see where
forgiveness is needed.
Forgive in your heart and in your words.
Accept forgiveness and apologies.
Remember the story of Zacchaeus,
Do you know someone who is like a Zacchaeus, and others talk
about him like people talked about Zacchaeus?
What do you think Jesus would do in your place?
