Immunization Hesitancy - A Brief Overview of Challenges and Opportunities OnlineMike Kujawski
This document discusses challenges and opportunities related to immunization hesitancy online. It provides key digital trends and statistics showing over 50% of the global population has internet access and over 70% of Canadians use social media regularly. It then visualizes discussion surrounding vaccine hesitancy online and shows examples of anti-vaccination networks on Twitter and Facebook. The document concludes by offering a simplified digital engagement strategy model and introducing three free monitoring tools that can help filter through online discussions and debates around immunization.
The document discusses the history and development of the internet and world wide web. It provides details on common internet uses like communication via email and instant messaging. Internet access is gained through internet service providers. Browsers like Firefox and Internet Explorer allow users to access web pages by entering URLs. The document also covers online shopping, social networking, search tools, and security considerations for electronic commerce.
The Internet is a global network of interconnected computers that allows for the transmission of information. It originated from the ARPANET network developed by the US Department of Defense in the 1960s for communication between government organizations. Over time, technological advancements like TCP/IP protocols and the World Wide Web enabled the Internet to become a medium for publishing and accessing all kinds of information through hyperlinked web pages and applications. Every device connected to the Internet is identified by a unique IP address.
Social network analysis and audience segmentation, presented by Jason BaldridgeSocialMedia.org
In his Brands-Only Summit Pre-Conference presentation, People Pattern's Jason Baldridge explains how profile analytics and user segmentation enables more effective product campaigns.
He covers recent results on measuring bias at scale, the effect of network structure on virality, and inferring networks from information cascades.
The document discusses how baby boomers have changed their internet usage over time. In 2000, only 40% of baby boomers used the internet and connectivity was slow. By 2010, 74% of baby boomers used the internet, 63% had broadband at home, and 46% connected wirelessly. Baby boomers also went from spending 24% of their time online in 2000 to 32% in 2010. The document examines how baby boomers have adopted technologies like social media and e-commerce over time and compares their internet habits to other generations.

This document discusses the issue of net neutrality and the debate around internet service providers prioritizing internet traffic through "fast lanes". It notes that ISPs began charging companies fees to avoid network congestion, affecting the delivery of content. In response, the FCC established Open Internet rules in 2015 banning paid prioritization and requiring equal treatment of all internet traffic. The document proposes that websites could participate in a coordinated day of slowing servers to display messages urging users to contact lawmakers about net neutrality and ending fast lanes. The goal would be to generate enough complaints to pressure legislators into addressing the issue.

Lee Barnes - Path to Becoming an Effective Test Automation Engineer.pdfleebarnesutopia
So… you want to become a Test Automation Engineer (or hire and develop one)? While there’s quite a bit of information available about important technical and tool skills to master, there’s not enough discussion around the path to becoming an effective Test Automation Engineer that knows how to add VALUE. In my experience this had led to a proliferation of engineers who are proficient with tools and building frameworks but have skill and knowledge gaps, especially in software testing, that reduce the value they deliver with test automation.
In this talk, Lee will share his lessons learned from over 30 years of working with, and mentoring, hundreds of Test Automation Engineers. Whether you’re looking to get started in test automation or just want to improve your trade, this talk will give you a solid foundation and roadmap for ensuring your test automation efforts continuously add value. This talk is equally valuable for both aspiring Test Automation Engineers and those managing them! All attendees will take away a set of key foundational knowledge and a high-level learning path for leveling up test automation skills and ensuring they add value to their organizations.

[OReilly Superstream] Occupy the Space: A grassroots guide to engineering (an...Jason Yip
The typical problem in product engineering is not bad strategy, so much as “no strategy”. This leads to confusion, lack of motivation, and incoherent action. The next time you look for a strategy and find an empty space, instead of waiting for it to be filled, I will show you how to fill it in yourself. If you’re wrong, it forces a correction. If you’re right, it helps create focus. I’ll share how I’ve approached this in the past, both what works and lessons for what didn’t work so well.

LF Energy Webinar: Carbon Data Specifications: Mechanisms to Improve Data Acc...DanBrown980551
This LF Energy webinar took place June 20, 2024. It featured:
-Alex Thornton, LF Energy
-Hallie Cramer, Google
-Daniel Roesler, UtilityAPI
-Henry Richardson, WattTime
In response to the urgency and scale required to effectively address climate change, open source solutions offer significant potential for driving innovation and progress. Currently, there is a growing demand for standardization and interoperability in energy data and modeling. Open source standards and specifications within the energy sector can also alleviate challenges associated with data fragmentation, transparency, and accessibility. At the same time, it is crucial to consider privacy and security concerns throughout the development of open source platforms.
This webinar will delve into the motivations behind establishing LF Energy’s Carbon Data Specification Consortium. It will provide an overview of the draft specifications and the ongoing progress made by the respective working groups.
Three primary specifications will be discussed:
-Discovery and client registration, emphasizing transparent processes and secure and private access
-Customer data, centering around customer tariffs, bills, energy usage, and full consumption disclosure
-Power systems data, focusing on grid data, inclusive of transmission and distribution networks, generation, intergrid power flows, and market settlement data
