Gordonton School is holding a parent/student meeting to promote why it is the best option for Years 7 and 8. If the spaces we use for teaching and learning could speak to us, what would they say? The places and spaces across colleges and universities are some of our biggest investments. But are we using them effectively to enhance and enrich the learning journey? Does the environment in which we learn have impact on the learning journey?
There is an institutional memory within those walls that is inaccessible and lost every time the learners and teachers leave the room. The room doesnโt remember what worked well or what could have been better. The spaces, if they could store experiences and feedback, would know what worked well, and what didnโt, for different learning activities. What if, we could we use data gathered from teachers and students, as well as space usage, to inform and improve teaching and learning?
The hyperbole around AR, VR, artificial intelligence and the internet of things as created a cynical bubble among some staff and institutional decision makers, especially those that have been burned by previous tech fads. But it may be time to put aside the cynicism that this kind of hype generates and look seriously at how we can take advantage of these emerging technologies to improve the student experience, research and the management of our campuses (Clay 2017)

Enid Byton
Enid Blyton was a prolific English children's writer who was born in 1897 in London. She wrote over 800 books that sold over 600 million copies and were translated into nearly 90 languages. Some of her most famous works included the Famous Five, Secret Seven, and Noddy series. Blyton married twice, first to Hugh Pollock and later to Kenneth Darrell Waters after divorcing Pollock. She had two daughters but struggled with the mental decline of possible Alzheimer's disease late in life, finding it difficult to concentrate on writing before dying in her sleep at a nursing home in 1968.

In 1516, Leonardo moved to France at the invitation of King Francis I and lived out the rest of his life there, dying in 1519 at the age of 67.

Her diary was published after World War II and brought international attention to the Holocaust.

- Firstly thank you all for coming out tonight. I know that for some it will be a very difficult decision that you will have to make regarding the education of your child.Once it was easy. The decision was made for you. You just went to the school nearest to you. However we now do not have that luxury and there are at least 6 schools to choose from - Hamilton Christian, Southwell, Peachgrove Int. Fairfield Int. and St JosephsYou therefore have a choice but also a decision. I hope tonight that I can help you make that decision by presenting you with some ideas that will hopefully keep your child at our school. Your decision must be based on the followingIt is the best place educationally for the learning needs of my child?Will they cope with high school after attending our school?Does our school offer what others have to offer?
