After a wonderful Graduation Ceremony, the Year 6 students were able to celebrate afterward at the Graduation Dance. Many thanks to Melanie anf her team from Humphreys Dance, who taught the students the dances during term 4 and then ran the dance. There were some dance winners during the evening, to add to the fun, as well. Unfortunately, due to COVID 19 restrictions, parents were not able to attend for the last dance at the end of the evening, as in previous years.

2. Boulder Town Hall was built in 1908 in the federation style and is
home to the amazing Philip Goatcher Hand Painted Stage Curtain.
3. Inside the auditorium with beautiful cast iron balustrading polished
jarrah floor and famous Philip Goacher Stage Curtain.
4. City of Kalgoorlie Historian, Tim Moore, talking to the students about the history here, including
that ACDC played here in the early days of the band, among other famous names.
5.
6. Pressed iron sheet ceiling with roof cavity to exhaust the hot
air out and help keep the room cool..
7. Up behind the stage and the view up to the roof. Height was here to accommodate
scenery being raised and lowered as needed during performances.
8. There is also a very old grand piano and a student was invited to play for us
all. Trent took up the offer and did a great job of it. Well done Trent.
9. At night the irreplaceable Philip Goatcher curtain is raised up
into this giant calico sleeve up above to protect it.
10.
11. There is also a lot of history in the council chambers, with all the mayors down the years on the
walls. Tim tells us some of the interesting things about these people and the chamber.
12.
13.
14.
15. Upstairs in the auditorium, with simple jarrah flooring and terraces with simple wooden chairs, being
that the miners lived in Boulder. a big contrast to Kalgoorlie Town Hall, as we will see later.

21. The amazing and irreplaceable Philip
Goatcher Stage Curtain, painted in the
early 1900’s, it took 4 months and he was
paid 300 pounds, enough to buy two and a
half houses in those days.
It features velvet and silver curtains
painted with ermine fur border and a ‘Bay
of Naples’ scene, with Mt Versuvius
erupting in the background. Decorative
borders and highlights are painted on as
well. Not in gold paint, but colours to
create the impression… Comparable to the
Mona Lisa among theatrical experts…
22.
23. Morning tea in the park at the top of the main street in Boulder. The Loopline
Train Museum is there, but no longer open, to our disappointment.
24. Across from the park, the old Metropole Hotel, famous for the tunnel up from the
mine below, that miners were supposed to have traded gold for food and drinks…
25.
26. Subway under the Loopline Railway that took miners up to the mines on the Golden
Mile by Kalgoorlie, now the site of the Superpit.
