Welcome to my Northumberland powerpoint.
The last thousands of years, many people have come to this
amazing land in England. Northumberland has grew in the
popularity of many people throughout time and history.
Today many people visit the land of Northumberland to enjoy
the history, the landscape and the beautiful scenery throughout
this amazing place in England. I hope you enjoy learning about
the history and place of Northumberland.
3. BAMBURGH
Bamburgh is a little historical village in Northumberland.
The village has lots of history about the castle, Grace
Darling and St Aidan’s Church.
Today Bamburgh is a tourist attraction for people to visit
while they are on their holidays in Northumberland. In
the next few slides, I will tell you about Grace Darling,
the Castle and church of this amazing village.
4. GRACE DARLING
Grace Darling was born on 24th November 1815 in Bamburgh.
She lived with her family in a little cottage in the village. She
went to school in Bamburgh with her friends until one night
which changed her life forever.
Grace was called to help the people who were struggling to get
to Longhurst Lighthouse before dark, she saved many people
on this ship until her passing in 1840 where she was buried in
Bamburgh in the churchyard.
5. BAMBURGH CASTLE
Bamburgh Castle was built during 987AD. The castle is upon a
rock overlooking the majestic North Crashing Sea. The Castle has
many different tales and treasures to look at. When you look
inside, see the rooms and the banquet halls where the kings used
to eat.
The castle is a intresting place that people can come and see the
rooms of the castle. There is a shop and café with a museum
decidated to the Armstrong Family. You must go and see this
amazing castle!.
7. LINDISFARNE
Lindisfarne is a popular place to visit in Northumberland. The
town was first founded by 2 saints called Aidan and Cuthbert,
these two saints became the most important saints in the first
centuries of Lindisfarne.
In 987Ad, the Vikings destroyed Lindisfarne and today the town
Is a well know place for visitors to come and see the castle and
priory of Lindisfarne.
8. CASTLE & PRIORY
In 1537 after the ruins of the abbey remained, Henry VIII decided to
build a castle on top of the rocks of the old abbey. The castle is on a
rocky hill overlooking the sea. This castle allows tourists to see
remarkable stones and gifts that were sold from the abbey.
The Castle is now in the hands of the National Trust, with the abbey
in the hands of English Heritage, today these two properties are still
worth much history for Lindisfarne.
9. DUNSTANBURGH
Dunstanburgh is a little village near Embleton Bay in
Northumberland. There is a little village with serves 2 pubs, a café
and a walk to Dunstanburgh Castle.
The Castle is very dramatic and it is ruined, the castle was built
by Thomas Earl of Lancaster who was a cousin of King Edward I
to maintain the defences to Northumberland. The castle is now
in the hands of English Heritage and it can only be visited by
walking to it on foot.
10. CHILLINGHAM
Chillingham is a little village sit on the historical and spooky
castle and wild cattle that come out three times during the year.
The village has a church leading towards the castle.
Chillingham Castle is the most spooky castle in England, the
castle has been founded since the 13th century and today holds
a exhibition, shop and majestic café.
11. ALNMOUTHUTH
Alnmouth is a little town on the River Aln. It is also a fishing town
where the Aln meets the crashing North Sea. The town has been a
tourist place because the river meet’s it ocean.
The town has shops, cafes, church and restaurants. Alnmouth is
near Warkworth which is the nearest castle.
12. WARKWORTHA
Warkworth is a town on the bend of the River Coguet in
Northumberland. The main attraction in Warkworth is the majestic
ruined castle which was built during the 10th century.
Today many people visit Warkworth for it’s shops, boats and castle.
This is a lovely little town to visit in Northumberland.
