Our Village, Amaliapolis
Where is Amaliapolis? Amaliapolis is a village in central Greece. It is also called Mitzela. It lies by the sea and it is built in the form of an amphitheatre. It was named after Queen Amalia, the first queen of the modern Greek state, in the 1840s.
This is what our village looks like from a satellite!
Almost all of the houses have a great view to the sea, the Pagasetic Gulf.
Our Village, by Xenia, Helen and Popi (6 th Grade) Our village was created in 1837 by refugees coming from Old Mitzela, on Mt Pelion. There, Mitzela had been ruined twice in the past. Therefore, Queen Amalia granted the people a place to live near Almyros and that is where they built Mitzela. Then, its official name became Amaliapolis.
