This document provides information for parents about their child's transition to Year 4. It outlines arrival and collection procedures, what equipment is needed, homework expectations, and swimming and PE arrangements. Due to Covid-19, swimming will not take place initially. Homework will be set half termly. Children should read at home 5 times a week and bring reading diaries daily. PE kit should be worn on the scheduled PE day. Daily mile information is also included. Parents can contact the school with any other questions.
4. Arrival at 9:05am

7. Equipment needed to start the year

• PE Kit (summer and winter)
• Bookbag
• Smart black shoes
• Trainers for PE
• Waterproof coat (warm in winter)
• Wellies for outdoor learning
8. Expectations of home learning
• Homework will go out half-termly with a number of
challenges related to classroom learning. The homework
sheets will detail the due date.
• Reading- Your child will read with an adult at school.
Please also read with your child at home. The expectation
is for the children to read at home 5 times a week.
• Please write in the reading diaries when your child has
read or the book is finished.
• Reading diaries need to be in school daily.
• The books will be changed on Monday, Wednesday and
Friday, when possible.
9. Swimming
• Due to the current pandemic we are following
Government guidance and unfortunately the
children will not be going swimming when they
return in September.
• We will keep you updated of any changes.
10. Swimming
• Swimming. This will be on Wednesday morning before break and
they will be back by lunchtime.
• Girls with earrings are asked to take them out if possible or to
cover them with tape.
• Swimsuits for girls needs to be an all in one. No bikinis please.
• Boys swim trunks need to be above their knees.
• Children with long hair must have swimming hats.
• Children may wear swimming googles if they wish.
• The swimming teachers will assess their swimming ability on
their first lesson and allocate an appropriate area for them to
swim.

12. PE
We will notify you in September as to which day
your child’s PE is on.
We are asking that children come to school already
dressed in their PE kits on this day.
