2. Yanbu
Industrial
City
Yanbu ّIndustrial City, we are located in western
Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea coast, about 350
km northwest of Jeddah and Mecca. As a mod-
ern industrial center, Yanbu Industrial City plays
a major role in the dynamic economy of both
Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region. Since
its inception 40 years ago, Yanbu has become
a primary center of the Kingdom’s hydrocar-
bon-based industries.
Yanbu is the western terminal of the East-West
pipelines that transport sales gas, natural gas
liquid (NGL) and crude oil 1,200 km from the
Eastern Province of the Kingdom. While most of
the oil is exported to world markets, a significant
amount, along with methane-rich sales gas and
NGL, provide feedstocks for the petrochemical
industries of Yanbu Industrial City.
Nearly two-thirds of Yanbu Industrial City’s 185
km2 consists of industrial sites, with further ex-
pansion adding another 420 km2. Yanbu current-
ly hosts more than 110 total industries including
hydrocarbon, petrochemicals, and minerals pro-
cessing. In addition, there are more than 65 new
industrial plants in various stages of construc-
tion or planning.
With this solid economic base, Yanbu is a focal
point for investors from all over the world. To
date, over $40 billion has been invested in Yan-
bu Industrial City, of which about 70% is from
private investment. Commercial and residential
developers have also followed the lead of our
partners, supplying a wide range of goods, ser-
vices, and housing for our vibrant community.
