7. • Flexibility is a monster in its own:
• option to work from home
• actual job description-alter to your strengths.
• availability to your family including the option to coach,
attend, be present.
• Your decision to join associations, networking groups, etc.
• Money: Work hard, reap the benefits.
• Job Security: The typical idea of everyone needs insurance
• Progression-so important to millennials to have a job in which
they can advance.
• Travel: Depending on their job/agency-the availability to travel
the state, country, etc.
8. • Knowledge: Most people don't go to school for insurance-
start a business on something you're not super knowledgeable
about is tough.
• Complexity: Being a small business owner is tough. Being
an insurance agency owner is even tougher; things to
consider: balance sheets/income statements, taxes, salaries,
benefits, E&O exposures, etc.
• Balance: probably the toughest thing for our age-how to
balance work/personal life (especially w young families)
• Ageism: respect unfortunately comes with age sometimes.
9. • Management/Owner Opportunity: throw up the statistic showing
the amount of agency owners retiring
• Direction: Most agencies are antiquated. Use creativity to highlight
your strengths. (technology, marketing, etc)
• Friendships: surround yourself with people smarter than you-bring
up the many user groups you're part of and talk about how each one
has made you a better agency owner.
• Adaptability and accessibility: I THINK we are a generation of
people accustomed to change. First black president, more Fortune
500 female CEO’s than ever gay marriage, school integration... Def
more of an opportunity for EVERYONE to be an agency owner, not
just someone that looks like you :)
