The Dangers Of Web 2. 0 Advancements
Abstract
Web 2.0 has turned into a catch all expression to depict sites that are something

This carpenter contractor specializes in constructing commercial buildings and
residential homes from wood products. They work with sheet wood, composite
lumber, rough timber, and regular lumber. This material is used to create the skeleton

using markers like chalk. This is done so that any other tradesman can use the lines
to complete their work. For a framer, making the layout is a big responsibility. Once
they have the w alls done they may also frame out any architectural specialties like
bulkheads or staircases in a home.
To acquire the skills and experienced necessary to become a reputable framing
carpenter contractor most will learn on the job. Some may even go through
apprenticeship programs. The framer also needs to understand the different materials
and tools that are used in construction and be familiar with current building standards
and codes. They should also understand how to read blueprints to ensure that they are
doing the framing work correctly.
Along with wood framing, a framing carpenter contractor may also work with metal
and wood framing studs, finish the drywall used covering the framing, and
Family Member Of The Family
Growing up, in my childhood years, there has always been four family members. It
has always been my father, mother, brother and me. My brother is my half brother,
but he has lived with me my whole life. I would depart with him to his dad s side of
the family on certain occasions. I attained closely to his side of the familyand we
called each other relatives even though we actually are not. Most of the time, his
dad was not around even at family functions. My mom had my brother when she
was a senior in high school. When she had my brother, she did not have it easy. My
grandmother did not want anything to do with my mom when she achieved
pregnancy. My grandmother had kicked her out when she became pregnant and
told her she is an adult now so she needs to take care of herself and the baby. My
mom worked at a fast food restaurant for the longest time and she did not have the
needs to feed my brother as she needed to. They were very poor for a while, but my
mom found a new job and that helped them tremendously. Not only did she acquire
more money to support her and my brother, but also she met my father. They then
married a couple years later and my father chose to appear in court to extract
custody of my brother. To this day, if you ask my brother who his dad is he will
say my father. His birth dad was never around and never wanted anything to do with
him, so in my brother s eyes our father is his dad. My brother was about two years

The Role Of The Bird In Madame Ratignolle
This goes to show to the reader how men in the 19th century treated their wives as
possessions, they had a firm hold on their wives which was supported by society.
Women who decided to think or act for themselves were seen as bad mothers and
wives, being ostracized completely by all. Edna slowly begins to realize that she is
treated and seen as a piece of property, and a part of her awakening is her realization
that she as an individual, as a womanwith desires and needs, is more important than
her demanding family and society. Even though throughout the novella Edna is seen
adoring Madame Ratignolle, she does not want to be in her place or change herself in
order to fit her role as a mother.
The imagery and symbolism of the bird is depicted through the novella, where the
bird is Edna. A bird represents a strong character, where it has the ability to fly and
soar way from its problems ,but is trapped in a cage which is parallel to the society
Edna is living in. Edna was not only the one to experience this oppression, but it was
a common theme during the Victorian Era,with women being restricted to the
domestic sphere, and having the acting role of a dutiful mother and wife. Edna is also
shown to have a daydream in which a half naked man is observing a bird fly away,
which arises a desire within her to fly away from her husband and her problems.
The third person narrator is letting us know what Edna is truly feel from within. She

People V Hall Analysis
SOCIAL DISCRIMINATION/EXCLUSION ACTS:
People v. Hall (1854), was a notable case that went down in history because it made
discriminating against the Chinese seem perfectly reasonable and ethical. The jury
tried to charge George Hall for the murder of a Chinese man Ling Sing. There were
three Chinese witnesses, who claimed Hall was guilty, but the California Supreme
court, notably Chief Justice Murray established that no black, mixed race or Chinese
could testify against a white man. Hall was effectively freed, and the ruling made it
okay to discriminate against the Chinese. This was followed up by the Statues of
California/Chapter 13 (1858) and the Page Act of 1875, which were one of the first
restraining federal migration rules that banned the entry of specific migrants
considered unwanted. The statues specifically prohibited Chinese and Mongolians
from entering the state except when driven ashore by weather or unavoidable
accident. Furthermore, the 1880 Naturalization Law generated a system of a check
for nationalization and fines for deceitful practices. It notably extended the
naturalization process to people of African descent but refrained from extending it to
people of Asian descent due to anti Chinese sentiment in the western states.
Additionally, a distinctive aspect that sets the Chinese apart from all the other AAPI
groups was the fact that they were the first Asian American group to be exposed to
exclusionary acts such as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. The Act efficiently
halted Chinese immigration and prohibited Chinese from becoming naturalized
citizens. It was ordained in reaction to widespread economic concerns and fear about
maintaining white purity. The U.S. government did not stop; they successively issued
more discriminatory acts into the law. One such proposal was the Scott Act of 1888,
which banned Chinese workers abroad or who intended future travels from returning
to America. The act expanded on the Chinese Exclusion Act and stranded thousands
of Chinese outside the United States. Furthermore, the Chinese Exclusion Act was
renewed for another decade by the Geary Act (1892). Geary Act by itself established a
central system for all Chinese inhabitants in America. It became
Patient Education For Patients And The Education
Introduction
Patient Education is dedicated to patients and the education we should be providing
as health care professional on a day to day basis. Patient Education is one of more
important jobs we do in our career as nurses. Children with chronic health problems
or diseases such as on a pediatric hematology/oncology unit, require skilled, home
based care by parents, supported by professionals. However, once patients are
discharged, it is evident that there is a continuous need for online resources to help
supplement their learning and the professional support they may have received
during discharge. At this time, existing resources consist on patient/parent education
at the bedside, with supplemental handouts to back up the teaching. ... Show more

Dedicated to serving the specialized medical needs of children, from newborns to
adolescents, diagnosed with cancers such as leukemia, brain tumors, and blood
related diseases such as hemophilia, this 33 bed unit often has a full census with
patients waiting to get in. They provide support for family members as well as care
for the unique needs of the oncology patient during all phases of their illness,
diagnosis, treatment, education, and when needed, end of life care. Being that it is a
pediatric unit, most of the education is done by the nurses directly to the parents or
care givers of the children being treated. But often times, the care givers are given
educational information while under extreme stress, still trying to process all the new
information and quite often, they have not come to terms with their child s new
diagnosis. Other times, the nurse may be in a hurry, or may have other challenges
that factor into the lack of understanding. Some of those contributing factors could
include; inadequate knowledge or training of the clinicians, inconsistencies in quality
of care, changes in current practice guidelines, limited health literacy skills, conflicts
with prior training implementation challenges, such as language barriers, and lastly,
inadequate resources for the care givers. It was this last contributing factor that it was
determined a change needed to take
Special Populations In Education
This research paper is parallel with my thematic core and curriculum because it based
on inadequately youth which falls under Special Populations. Special populations in
education are groups of people with needs that require special consideration and
attention in an educational setting. Students can belong to more than one special
population at a time. While no two students will ever have identical needs, awareness
of the special populations in educationwill help you understand the challenges your
students may be facing and develop ways of meeting them (Online). Passionate to be
an advocate for the inadequately youth, I need to be knowledgeable and aware of the
statistics language and social skills have upon economically disadvantaged students.
Silent Words in Art
The Magdalen with a smoking flame is an art piece that was done by George De La
Tour in 1640.
De La Tour painted this work using oil and paint on a material known as canvas.
This painting was created in France then it was moved to the one of the most
respected museums of the Los Angeles county Museum of art. The size of the
painting is 128cm by 94cm, by looking at this painting the elements that were used
are very noticeable the texture in this work gives it a very smooth and rough feel
at the same time. Looking at the painting Magdalen is sitting vertically in this
painting and so is the flame . The value of this art piece is stands out as we can see
all the light that illuminates Magdalen and part of the wall. You can also see that
Mary Magdalen is thinking of something that is unknown to us. All of the objects in
the painting including the, Skull, Book, lamp, and lighting of the candle make up the
unity of this image, to better identify what Mary may be thinking as she meditates on
the flame. In this painting the light is what calls the attention to the art. Magdalen is
an actual character that was drawn from the bible as she sitting in solitude and
gazing into a simple flame lamp (Louvre, de Musee Paris).
This painting is a very religious work of art because the skull symbolizes the
suffering of Jesus Christ. De
La Tour is most known for depicting scenes from the bible and characters. The
books that are on top of the table are represented as bibles. When I
Crash Thomas Theorem
The movie Crash by Paul Haggis is filled of sociological ideas, scrutinizing concerns
of race, social class, and gender, as well as countless others. This movie displays the
lives of various characters in diverse social classes including the upper middle,
middle, and the lower class. In my opinion the filmCrash is one of those movies that
makes an individual rethink even what someone thinks he or she knows about the
world one lives in. Overall, I agree with The Thomas Theorem for multiple reasons.
Essentially, this theorem expresses to people that if they believe particular situations
to be real, they will develop and become real to them. An individual s own subjective
reality converts their objective reality. It continues then that if they

A Brieg Biography of William McKinley
William McKinley was our 25th great president. He did many wonderful things such
as leading America to victory in war with Spain. Some of his other concerns while in
office include: domestic affairs, tariff legislation, race relations, trust regulation, and
foreign affairs. He had a good life and served as an amazing president during his time
in the Whitehouse until his assassination.
McKinley was born on January 29, 1843 in Niles, Ohio. He was the seventh child to
his father, William McKinleyand his mother, Nancy Campbell Allison McKinley.
As a boy, McKinley attended a one room schoolhouse in his hometown until the
age of nine. At that time McKinley and his family moved to Poland, Ohio (which
was nearby) so that the children could attend a private school. At age 16 he
attended Allegheny Collage in Meadville, Pennsylvania where he studied for one
term before he had to leave due to sickness and some financial issues he was facing.
After recovering he enlisted as a private in the Civil War. McKinley joined the 23rd
Ohio Volunteer Infantry at age 18 and was promoted to commissary sergeant at 19.
He later became a Second Lieutenant because of his acts of bravery on the battlefield.
This would only be the start to his success.
McKinley won a seat in Congress in the House of Representatives in 1876 when he
was 34 years old. He began wearing a red carnation after he noticed his opponent,
Levi Lamborn, was wearing one during a debate. This became a trademark of

Roman Arch Essay
During the Roman Empire, the original arch was redesigned to be strong and
support large structures. In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were
haphazardly stacked on each other with hopes of at most supporting a small room.
However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured polyhedrons and trapezoidal
prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to the
creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the
Romans adapted this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are
still used today. Therefore, using basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman
Empirerevolutionized the arch forever. The Roman Empire did not create the arch
in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that could barely
support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was
corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where
stones are laid so they move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). Each
rectangular prism has the properties of parallelograms, which are that opposite sides
are congruent, and diagonals bisect each other, as well as all angles in the rectangle,
are right angles, and the diagonals are congruent. The congruent... Show more content

This evolution led to the construction of large buildings, cathedrals, and other
structures used today. Over time, Byzantine architect in Eastern Europe and
Romanesque architects in Western Europe (Ambler) adopted the newly designed arch
and even developed it further. Through centuries, many empires borrowed this design
and modified it in various ways to satisfy their different needs. In this way, the
architecture of ancient Rome has a lasting impact on the world. Therefore, the mere
change in the geometric shapes used in arches had a lasting impact on the world that

Sleep Deprivation And The Sleep
Sleep is a basic necessity of everyday life. According to the National Foundation of
sleep, a person is required to sleep at least seven to nine hours a day. (citation) As
mentioned by Matt T. Bianchi in the book Sleep Deprivation and Disease, The
normal quantity of sleep depends on the individual and a myriad of other factors such
as environment and an individual s waking needs. (citation) This means that the
quantity of sleep that people achieve depends on their body s needs and functions.
Unfortunately, according to the Nation Foundation of Sleep, twenty percent of
individuals are affected by sleep deprivationeach year. This a huge number. Sleep
deprivation is a lack of the required sleep a person needs in a week . It can come in...

The percentage decreases after the age of fifty. Both quality and quantity are
important when it comes to sleep. If one fails to acquire the appropriate amount of
R.E.M sleep and sleeps less than six hours everyday for one week, then that person
would have a total sleep debt of seven to fourteen hours. The effects of not sleeping
properly can be felt as soon as the next day.
As mentioned before, there are two types of sleep deprivation, partial sleep
deprivation and total sleep deprivation. A person is considered partially sleep
deprived if he or she gets less than five hours of sleep per night. If a person gets less
than three hours of sleep per night, then he or she is considered sleep deprived.
Sleep deprivation can either be caused by lifestyle or medical issues. Factors such
as drinking coffee at night, obesity, stress, insomnia, and sleep apnea negatively
affect the way one sleeps. As mentioned previously, sleep deprivation can affect one
s physically. Some of these effects include: obesity, type two diabetes and heart
disease. Most of these effects are cyclical. This means that it is a repeating process.
Obesity is a physical illness which results in the extreme production of fat and
cholesterol. Obesity is an increasing problem in the U.S. According to the World
Health Organization (WHO), Obesity has more than doubled since the 1980 s. In the
2014, six hundred million adults aged eighteen and up, were suffering from obesity.

The Pit And The Pendulum Summary
The Pit and The Pendulum Subject Matter Brought by Edgar Allan Poe, The Pit and
The Pendulum bring together dreadful sequences of the narrator being sentenced to
death by the inquisitors. Black robed pale faced judges collide with power and they
are the inquisitors who had imprisoned the narrator. Being that these judges are
inquisitors, means that the story takes place during the Spanish Inquisition. During
the inquisition time period, being sentences to death means sentenced to horrible,
gruesome, and super torturous death. Upon analysis of this information, the story is
set in a past tense explanation of the torture brought to the narrator by a panel of
black robed pale face judges, which is an illustration of how people suffer a
horrendous torture during imprisonment by the inquisition.... Show more content on

In the first incident, the narrator has been shown to be locked in a dungeon cell for
imprisonment. Brought by this, the narrator decides to take a walk inside the cell
and quickly is unbraced upon a deep pit as he trips and falls while walking. As he
has come forth to realize, he is safe as of now because he did not fall into the pit, but
now knows how the inquisitors are preparing to torture him. In the second incident,
after awakening from slumber from the first incident, the narrator then discovers a
painting on the ceiling. After noticing this is a painting of Father Time he soon
discovers this is no ordinary painting as the scythe of Father Time has been replaced
by a pendulum that is slowly descending. Pendulum closing in, more attention is
brought and now noticed that it is razor sharp, now knowing another reagent the
inquisitors are using as torture towards the narrator. After much worrying, he has
brought together an escape plan to get out of the bands holding him down, he grabs

Causes Of The Monster In Frankenstein
Why the Monster Should Not be Destroyed Victor Frankenstein s monster killed
many people and caused lots of irreversible disturbances, however the monster should
not be murdered. Many people argue that because the monster killed, and caused
many people to die that he himself should be destroyed. Many things happened that
made the monster s actions justified. Without the actions of Victor, the monster would
not have murdered people and caused lots of chaos. Despite the fact that many
people, including Victor, think that the beast should be destroyed, I believe that he
should not because without Victor s actions, the monster would not have killed
people. In the novel, the monster asphyxiated Victor s brother, William. Justine

He had no friends and nobody to talk to. Even the person who created him did not
talk to him or care for him.
The monster tried to make friends and meet people but as soon as he would try
and talk to someone they would run away and be scared of him. One of the main
reasons that the monster caused terror is that he was misunderstood by people. He
was actually a kind monster but nobody would get past his looks (He actually
conducted himself nicely). They decided based on his appearance that he was
murderous and intimidating. For example, in the novel, the monster was talking to
the blind man then, The cottage door was opened, and Felix, Safie, and Agatha
entered. Who can describe their horror and consternation on beholding me? Agatha
fainted, and Safie, unable to attend to her friend, rushed out of the cottage. Felix
darted forward, and with supernatural force tore me from his father, to whose knees
I clung, in a transport of fury, he dashed me to the ground and struck me violently
with a stick (Shelley 161). The blind old man could not tell that the monster was
ugly and intimidating so he had no problem with him, the other cottagers saw him
and they immediately got scared of him and beat him with a stick. He spent his life
alone, with nobody to talk to and he became envious of other people. That is why he
killed people, not because he is mean, but because he had no way to control his anger

Analysis Of A Mockingbird
Would you ever think that a small bird can be so important, let alone be compared
to people? Well this book is based on a mockingbird. A mockingbird is an animal
with innocence, and does nothing wrong except minding it s own buisness.
Killing them is wrong and there wouldn t be a reason. Just like in the book, Tom
Robinson, Atticus and Boo Radley were known as mockingbirds. In chapter 10
Atticus says, to Scout and Jem, I d rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard, but
I know you ll go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit em, but
remember it s a sin to kill a Mockingbird. In this essay I will talk about what it
means to be a Mockingbird and how it influences the characters in the book. To be a
Mockingbird or to be known as one, is being represented as being innocent. A
Mockingbird is an innocent being. All they do is mind their business and sing in
harmony until somebody tries to hurt them after they did nothing. Characters in the
book that are considered to be Mockingbirds would be Tom Robinson, Boo Radley
and Scout.
Tom Robinson lived a pretty average life for an African American in Alabama. Tom
was hard working man despite his arm, he usually spent his days picking cotton in
the hot weather of Maycomb and was pretty harmless. In my eyes he was a good
example of a literal Mockingbird, an innocent harmless man who is targeted by
others. When they finally saw him, why hadn t he do any of those things Tom
Robinson was an innocent man who was

Business writing 1.What did you learn from the Harvard ManageMentor Writing
Skills tutorial? (1) Besides the basics of an effective writing, the Harvard
ManageMentor Writing Skills tutorial gave me practical steps on how to plan the
task, how to develop its components and how to edit for content and style. In fact, it
taught me how essential a deep understanding of the task is. Before all, it is
important to consider the delivery strategy. Then, one must clarify his purpose, scope
the topic and analyze his audience by making himself in the reader s shoes, in order
to state a clear key message. Since I have always considered that starting writing is
the most challenging step, I found the getting started methods just inspiring. So
according to the contexts I must anticipate reader s questions, create a traditional
outline, use the brainstorm outline, or try a free writing. Likewise, I learned how to
choose the appropriate organizing method: Order of importance, Chronological,
Process and

Fairy Tale
Three Brothers, the Baker, and the Bear A long, long, time ago in a far away land
lived three brothers, Alexander, Eliot, and Janik. The brothers lived poorly with
their old parents in a village named Augusta. One chilly evening, the boys father
requested his sons go out to gather firewood and search for berries. Alexander, the
youngest, went on a search for twigs and branches as ordered, while Eliot and Janik
ran ahead in a search for food. Five minutes from their home resides the nearest
bakery, where Eliot and Janik stole bread from every day. Forget the berries! Yelled
Eliot. Tonight we feast on bread and leave mother and father to starve! As Eliot and

The witch vanished into mid air and with the chant of the witch echoing through
Janik and Alexander s ears, they engulfed onto their journey with Eliot to regain
their senses. The bear was scared for the boys, but he knew that with his help
Alexander and his brothers would all be okay. He quietly followed the boys into
the forest. He crept not too close and not too far. The brothers linked arms as they
went on their way, with Janik on one end to listen closely to their surroundings,
Eliot on another end to keep out an open eye, leaving Alexander in the middle to
rely on his siblings. Alexander knew they had to stick close together if they wanted
to make it to the next village over within three days. The closest village nearby was
a village called Juliesary. In that village, the wealthiest man of all the land owned
the most famous bakery in the world. The bakers wife worked at the bakery with
him, along with their beautiful daughter Adeline. Adeline s beauty was admired
throughout the village. Everybody wanted her hand in marriage, for she was the
fairest woman in the land and the most well off. Adeline s parents were successful
workers, owning most of the most well known bakery s with locations all over the
world. The three of them lived a pleasant, happy life in prosperity, and they wouldn t

The House On Marigolds Analysis
The sun is out shining down on the bright sparkling marigolds, it s quiet, nothing s
open and nothing to do, but lay around and think about the stage of the world right
now. I walk outside and see nothing but dullness, the dust against my feet, and the
small town around me, there may have been green grass, and roads at one point a
while ago but memory is an abstract painting . Behind me is a small shack leaning
together like a house that a child might have constructed from cards , with no porch,
on a small lot with no grass around. I have one thing that is held close to me that
makes me happy, they are bright against the dust, they are my marigolds. I notice

Offensive Lyrics Essay
Offensive Lyrics Intro
Ben, a child no more than the age of eight, adores his older brother James. James is
in his mid teens and is a huge fan of rap music. One of his favorites is Eminem.
Ben, wanting to be as much like his brother as possible, does everything to become a
complete copy of James. Ben dresses like him, eats the same food as he does, and
even tries to mimic the way he walks. Ben even tries to listen to the same music that
the older brother does. He asks his mom to buy one of the CDs that James has. His
mother objects by telling him that the music that his brother listens to is not
appropriate for someone his age. Ben, not knowing the meaning of what his mother

Their lyrics influence children everyday and they should be regulated in some shape
or form. Overall
Young people should not have to listen to violent lyrics and vulgar music being
produced by musicians and record producers. That modest warning label on the
corner of the CD cover is not as effective as one would think. If the musicians would
cut those offensive lyrics out of the music, young people would not have the idea of
running into a school and shooting random people just to feel better about
themselves. They would not get the idea to kill themselves from their favorite
band. They would not be bombarded with ideas and mental pictures of raping
women. Vulgar lyrics are all around in all types of music genres, from country, to
rap, to rock n roll, to alternative. Musicians should not have to write music about
drugs and alcohol, and sex, and violence to sell their albums. Violent lyrics are a
major problem in today s society. Solving this problem will be very difficult but
according to American Academy of Pediatrics there are a few ways to help control
the problem:
Parents are strongly encouraged to take an active role in monitoring music that their
children and adolescents are exposed to and which they purchase.
Parents should join with educators and other parents in local and national coalitions
to discuss the effects of music lyrics on children and adolescents.

I personally was not as excited about this piece as I hoped. I like louder and more
exciting music that changes from soft to loud and has a more upbeat tempo. The
second piece preformed was, Sedona by Steven Reineke. I really like this piece a
lot. It reminds me of Christmas and happy times. I like how in the beginning the
piece starts off softer, but you can still hear all the different instruments playing
their part. The tone of the flutes is very beautiful to listen to and I really enjoyed
how the piece slowed down to really enhance that sound. Overall, I really enjoyed
this piece and it was very well played. The next piece played was, Salvation is
created by Pavel Tschesnokoff and Bruce Houseknecht. This piece starts off soft
but then you hear the Timpani which brings in a louder sound to the piece. This
piece has a very slow tempo which was hard for me to keep my focus on. When I
listen to this piece and I hear the Timpani, I think of something exciting happening
and then it goes back to being normal again. Overall, I had a harder time
concentrating but I didn t mind it. The next piece played was, Kentucky 1800 by

Massola state that the arrival of the iPhone is the latest example of the upgrade
cycle that drives our consumer society. It promises the latest in features and
technology. It is quite possible there has never been so much excitement over a
phone before. The new features it promises, whether we need them or not, are the
hook used to capture new customers. In a world in which we already have too much
stuff , it is questionable whether we are really improving the quality of our life by
persisting with the cycle of upgrades that manufacturers stimulate. The number of
early adopters out there are those people who have to have the latest and greatest and
seems to grow exponentially.

A Study Of Stylist Magazine
Throughout this assignment I will be carrying out an in depth case study of Stylist
magazine. This will encompass a detailed analysis of the key aspects of the fashion
publication; covering its history, target audience and ownership to ABC figures and
competitors.
Considering themselves as the only weekly magazine for women with brains ,
British publication Stylist has become one of UK s best selling women s magazines
since its launch on 7 October 2009. Stylist operates under the same publishing
company as brother title, Shortlist a free weekly magazine for men. This independent

The Advertising team, unsurprisingly, is the largest department within Stylist
consisting of ten different Directors and Managers. The Creative Solutions team and
Digital team which is operated by 12 employees work under the wing of the
Advertising wing.
Stylist magazine features high end content that includes fashion, travel, beauty,
people and careers news. Judging from the general content included in Stylist, such
as aging creams, expensive perfumes and its intelligent approach covering a broader
range of culture and tackling issues women face in their professional and personal
lives it is evident that Stylist succeeds in attracting their intended target audience.
Stylist aims to target affluent 20 40 year old female commuters and according to
their media kit, Stylist s typical reader are women of the average age of 33, with 7
out of 10 unmarried and with no children. Despite attracting this particular target
audience it can be argued that with Stylist s vibrant front covers and fun features such
as temporary tattoos, ways to deal with hangovers and make up tutorials,Stylist is
luring in younger readers thus expanding their audience as a whole.
For example, the latest issue of Stylist (19th November) stars Lisa Simpson as its

Ultra High Performance Concrete ( Uhpc )
1.Introduction
Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) represents a major progress step over
normal strength concrete (NSC) and high strength concrete (HSC), through the
achievement of very high strength and very low permeability. Basically, the UHPC
is a concrete with compressive strength ranging 120 to 400 MPa, this ultra high
strength is achieved through different techniques including the use of improved
materials, ultra fine pozzolans (e.g. silica fume), low water cement ratio, improved
quality and higher dosage of superplasticizer, use of fibers (metallic or synthetic) to
increase the energy absorption capacity and decrease brittleness, high cementitious
materials content, longer mixing time and heat treatment [1]. UHPC tensile strength
varies from 10 to 30 MPa; and the modulus of elasticity is in the range of 60 100 GPa
[2].
Using UHPC in the construction of new bridges and the renewal of existing highway
bridge network can minimize maintenance requirement in the construction of new
long life bridges resulting in low life cycle costs [3].
Despite its exceptional material properties, UHPC s initial construction cost is
significantly higher than that of normal strength concrete (NSC), which limited its
use in North America and elsewhere. To address some of the challenges facing bridge
owners, the structural efficiency and cost effectiveness of using UHPC in composite
construction is investigated in this paper. Therefore, combining NSC with UHPFRC

Laurent Clerc s Deaf School
Laurent Clerc was born on December 26, 1785. It is believed that Clerc became
deaf by falling off of his high chair into the kitchen fireplace around age one. He
had gotten a severe burn on his right cheek, and a fever developed, and later on his
hearing and smelling senses were damaged. It was never quite clear whether he was
born deaf, or if it had been a cause of his accident. Clerc s parents had tried many
different treatments to get Clercs hearing back, although none of them succeeded.
Clerc did not go to school and didn t learn to read or write. For 11 years Clerc
stayed at home instead of going to school. While at home Clerc spent his time either
exploring the village, or taking care of the animals, such as; cows, turkeys, and
horses. Eventually, at age 12 Clercs uncle godfather, Laurent Clerc, who he was
named after, entered him into the Institut National des Jeune Sourds Muets, which
was the first public school for the deaf in the world. In school, Clerc s assistant
teacher, Abbe Margaron, tried to teach Clerc to pronounce his words, which Clerc
had a difficult time with this, at one point his difficulty in pronouncing words
enraged Abbe so much that he hit Clerc So hard underneath his chin, which caused
Clerc to accidentally bite his tongue so hard, he decided he wanted nothing to do
with speaking, and would never again learn to speak. Because of this experience, it
later caused Clerc to make his belief that signing is the greatest procedure for deaf
Iasb Stands For International Accounting Standards Board
a)IASB stands for International Accounting Standards Board. The IASB is a
standard setting board whose main role is to develop and approves International
Financial Reporting Standards so that all financial reports and financial statements
globally are detailed and can be easily read by all users. With constant regulation and
development, it ensures all business financial records are formatted the same and
easy to transfer information to and from them. To become an IASB member isn t an
easy task. IASB members are appointed through an in depth process undertaken by
the trustees. The trustees have no say in any matters regarding standards, their only
role is to govern the IASB. The first part of the process is the advertisement of the
vacant role in the IASB and asking the relevant stakeholder groups for nominations.
After the application period has closed it s up to the IASB Senior Management Team,
in conjunction with the nominating committee to draft up a short list of the
applicants, which is then approved by the rest of the trustees before contacting the
shortlisted to arrange a meeting. During the meeting, the IASB chairman and the Vice
chairman will meet with the candidates for the first time and interview them to find
out if the deserve the role of an IASB member. To become an IASB member, you
require recent practical experience in setting accounting standards, in preparing,
auditing, or using financial reports, and in accounting education . The nominating

Okonkwo s Struggles In Things Fall Apart
The Final Straw
It was the turn of the century and the continent of Africa appealed to the
industrialized nations of Europe for the continent s abundant resources. And once the
colonization of Africa began, the cultures of the tribal people and that of the
Europeans collided; instead of mixing, the cultures clashed. This conflict could been
seen through the life of one Ibo man; Okonkwo from Chinua Achebe s novel, Things
Fall Apart. Upon the European arrival, they brought with them new ideas and
concepts they expected to be followed by the natives. However, Okonkwo refused
to have anything to do with them. His refusal to accept the new concepts and ideas
changed his sense of identity, because he feared being seen as weak by subduing to ...

It was there that a District Commissioner could be found judging crimes the native
people committed. Of course justice was not being served fairly upon the people
who were judged. A numerous amount of things the Ibo people found to be a part
of their culture was seen as a crime to the white men. And eventually, Okonkwo
was involved in the court s ruling. After the burning of a church, Okonkwo and
other men of title, were called to the courthouse to meet with the district
commissioner. However, the District Commissioner s intent was not to meet with
the men, but to imprison them. The text describes the incident by saying, It
happened so quickly that the six men did not see it coming. There was only a brief
scuffle, too brief even to allow the drawing of a sheathed machete. The six men
were handcuffed and led into the guardroom. (142) The men were given a fine of
two hundred bags of cowries to pay for their release. Not able to pay the fine
immediately, the men stayed imprisoned for several days in which they went
without food or water. Once the fine had finally been paid the price had went up
by another fifty bags of cowries. And upon Okonkwo;s release, the male had never
been so infuriated before. He was truly ready for war. Only the rest of the village
did not stand with him. Unlike Okonkwo, the rest of the village were on a more

King And Douglass Similarities
Have you ever heard of the speech I Have a Dream from the late Martin Luther King
Jr.?
You d be pretty sure many people have heard of it, but has anyone ever really read
it and thought about it? This could be like The Hypocrisy of American Slavery, a
piece of work produced by Frederick Douglass. They both argued that African
Americans have a natural right to equality (Renfro 1). Douglass once said, The white
man s happiness cannot be purchased by the black man s misery. Here is just another
point of there not being enough equality for being an African Americanduring those
times of struggle. The fact that King and Douglass had used their oral power to try

They came to be very influential people for the people of their time and for many
years up to now. King and Douglass also had their staple in time for being great
Civil Rights activists. They played key parts in the fight to lead blacks from their
lack of power and equality for themselves. Having the struggles to deal with within
slavery and segregated times, blacks wanted to band together. King was vital in the
making of acts during those times, such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964 ( Martin
Luther King Jr. 2). This act was what outlawed most of the discrimination for
colored people. Douglass had his own contributions, but they were in some cases
not as major as the things King put forward to gain equality for blacks. As time
went on the two began earning their unparalleled oratory skills. With the power of
just their voices and hands they were granted with so much more notoriety. Both
of them have similar oratory styles. They both had the amazing ability to move
their audience to action (Renfro 1). They were also publishers and produced many
great pieces of work. Douglass published three versions of his autobiography during
his lifetime, revising and expanding on his work each time. My Bondage and My
Freedom appeared in 1855. In 1881, Douglass published Life and Times of Frederick

Invicta Soil Patterns
Introduction
The accidental introduction of the red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta Buren
(Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Myrmicinae) to Alabama between 1933 and 1945 led to
the eventual invasion of all of the southeastern US. Once established, the species
quickly developed a reputation for both its sting and its ability to rapidly invade new
habitats. As S. invicta expanded its range out of urban centers and into various other
habitats, concerns arose about the ability of the species to invade pristine systems and
displace native ant species. Yet, research has found that S. invicta is less of a
superior competitor and more of an opportunistic, disturbance specialist. For example,
a study in southeast Texas by LeBrun et al. (2012) compared the... Show more

invicta (Stiles and Jones 1998, Forys et al. 2002). In the Florida Keys in the late 80
s, the density of S. invicta was relatively low, as invasion had not yet occurred on
every island (Porter 1992). By 2002 a study by Forys et al. found high densities
primarily concentrated along roadways and in edge habitats in every Key.
Furthermore, undisturbed sites were more likely to be occupied if they were within
50m of a road and within 150m of high densities of urban development. This indicates
that the conditions within these sites of localized disturbance allow for persistence
and eventual dispersal into undisturbed sites (Forys et al.
Essay On Alternative Fuel
Alternative Fuels America needs to free itself from oil dependency. Every day
billions of dollars are spent on resourcing oil from other countries. The United
States consumes around 20 million barrels of oil every day. In the 1970 s when
the energy crisis happened, oil prices skyrocketed and the supply of oil ceased,
efforts shifted to find alternative sources of power. Although many people believe
alternative fuels are being researched and developed for environmental reasons such
as reducing our carbon emissions, they are actually becoming integrated into our
lives from an economic standpoint. Hydrogen, Electric, and Bio fueled cars are all
excellent sources of Fig. 01: National Average Retail Fuel Prices for July 2017

While electric vehicles are an excellent alternative source, they do have some
drawbacks. Electric vehicles have long charge times and the infrastructure isn t
fully developed all over the world. It s easy to find gas stations along the road, but
how often are electric vehicle charging stations found? The placement of the
structures is crucial because the chargers need to be in a good location. Authors of
Retailing Management Michael Levy and Barton Weitz explain that when a firm
decides to open a new station, they must make a substantial investment; either buy
and develop the real estate or commit to a long term lease typically ranging from 5
to 20 years. When companies set up a charging station its more than just a place to
refuel, it s an investment logically thought out as to where it should be placed.
Electric vehicles are an amazing advancement but some people are turned away
who are used to quick gas fill ups. Hydrogen Fuel cell is another solution to finding
alternative fuel vehicles. This technology has zero emissions, a driving range of 300
miles, and can be refueled and moving again in minutes. Although this technology is
more recent, the military has taken a liking to hydrogen powered cars. Initially,
electric vehicles were appealing to military because of how quiet they are, but setting
up charging locations is extremely difficult and the military doesn t have time to wait
for their electric vehicles to charge while in combat. The hydrogen vehicle was

First, a structural development was undertaken. The real design was used as the
background. This was because the entire operation of the x ray department and the
future alterations were easier to show the staff. The areas of treatment as well as
other operational areas, were defined in the layout by use of graphical SimQuick
graphical elements. Other graphical elements included counters for waiting areas and
utilization meters for areas of treatment. The counters were used for giving visual
information regarding the number of patients in the areas of waiting. On the other
side, the utilization meters were showing how much of the resources were been
utilized.
After defining all the areas, it was time for defining the entities paths and resources
that are the staff. The network of the path comprises of all the probable paths that all
the entities, patients, and members of staff could utilize in moving from place to
place in the x ray department. After creating the paths, the structural definitions were
made.
The needed information for the simulation model to be functional comprised of these
particulars: entities information, resources information, logic definitions and data use.

Summary Of The Next Towns Don t Last Long
The next towns don t last long. None of them quite matching the thrill of Tokyo, the
companionship he found in Spain, or the memories he made in Brazil. He becomes
a bit of a nomad, only staying in one place long enough to take up a new hobby. He
takes advantage of his enhanced healing ability and strength with extreme sports and
a daredevil attitude. Hiking, mountain climbing, snowboarding, motocross, all fill his
free time until the rush of adrenaline begins to diminish. Eventually, he moves to
hobbies more fitting of someone who has lived the fullness of their life and are
looking for something to keep busy with. He tries his hand at woodwork, and then
poetry, before settling on instrument repair. He likes it. It keeps his hands... Show

Five decades later and Luke finally manages to master the skill, so he doubts the
accuracy of what he read. _______________________ But he pushes the questions
of accuracy out of his head as he lays beside his partner. The arms around him are
strong and protective, the perfect representation of the man they belong to. Ashton
is roughly fifty years his senior, but he looks like he s still twenty one. He shares
the same color hair as Luke, but it is longer and it twists into natural waves
towards the ends. His tanned skin matches Luke s from the hours spent outdoors
on hikes, road trips in the Jeep with the top down and days passed on the beach.
With Ashton, Luke embraces his vampirism in ways he never has before. They
work with a fraction of the Clave located in California mentoring newly turned
vampires, Bottle Feeders , as the fraction has nicknamed them. Luke enjoys it and
learns more about himself than he ever thought he would. The greatest of
discoveries was that who he was before didn t die in the accident, he evolved.
Twenty stories above street level stands Luke and Ashton on the rooftop of their
apartment building. No words are being spoken, however the silence is not
uncomfortable between them. Maybe it is the view that makes him feel so miniscule
in the grand scheme of everything that leads to or it could be the beer in his hand.

Positive Traits Of The Filipino
Filipino Traits
By: Sir John V. Dela Cruz, 2nd Tri semester, MBA, Section 3

Traits is a distinguishing quality or characteristics, typically one belonging to a
person. It is a person s behavior that is assumed to serve as an explanation of his/her
enduring personal characteristics.
Filipinos have positive traits that mark us one of the most commendable people on
earth. The following good habits make the Filipinos great people and the Philippines
an abundant country. Hospitability is one of the popular traits of Filipinos. We are
usually friendly and welcoming to our guests. This Filipino trait makes the
Philippines one of the most favorite destinations by tourists who wants to enjoy the
beauty of our nature and the friendliness of our people. All peoples the world over
are welcoming in their own little way, but our hospitality ... Show more content on

Filipinos are courteous people. Young Filipinos will always have the term po and
opo to give respect to someone that is older or who is in a higher position than
them. We also make mano po or having their hand on your forehead gesture as a
sign of respect to our elders. Moreover, Filipinos always address their customers
with Ma am or Sir to show decency on serving them. A simple gesture of letting an
old one take your seat in a public transport is simple trait of a Filipino. Thriftiness
is one of the trait of a Filipino. There may be Filipinos who are living beyond their
means. But on the brighter side, there are also many Filipinos who are economical.
We shop sensibly to save our money for important uses in the future. We are fond
going to tiangges and sales and looking for buy 1 take 1 goods. We are conscious on
the price tags, discounts and quality of the products we buy to get the most out of our
The Articles By Menger ( 1998 ) Essay
In this paper, we are critically appraising the articles by Menger (1892), Goodhart
(1998), Rogoff (2014) and Yermack (2013) respectively. The first two papers focused
on the origins of money and the theory behind this while the second two papers
focused on the future of money. We will be comparing the conclusions of each author
in their papers and giving commentary on them.
Menger (1892) argues that money didn t originate because of government
introduction, but instead that it emerged organically because the market required it.
This is a direct contrast to Goodhart s (1998) view that money was given authority by
government and without this, trade would revert to barter, which aligns with
Yermack s (2013) conclusion that the privately generated Bitcoin is not a currency.
Menger (1892) claims that trade would not exist without money because of the
excessive search costs to find a double coincidence of wants and therefore barter was
too inefficient to have ever occurred.
He uses the term saleableness repeatedly in his paper when describing money and
commodities and we must interpret what he means by this. He uses it to describe
how a difference exists between all commodities in how easily one can trade with it.
He talks about the almost infinite saleability of money and how this is a one off
occurrence.
Menger (1892) goes into detail of how some commodities are more or less saleable
than others and this is where the paper gets very interesting. He gives examples of

The Wrong Man Ivins
Many people today receive mail in various of ways. Today, many people receive mail
by phone or computer, but most of us get our mail by letter/card and people believe
that the mail is a piece of paper in an envelope that s harmless and safe to handle
However, in 2001, there was a mysteries anthrax attack by mailwhich scared tons of
people in Trenton, New Jersey because it happened a week after the 9/11 plane
crashing in the twin towers killing tons of innocent people. This attack was terrifying
to civilians who lost their loved ones in the attack on September 11, 2001 because
they were afraid that this situation was another attack on America. Unfortunately, 5
people were killed and and another 15 were poisoned from the attrax traced letters
that were delivered the victims. This attack made numerous amount of people
speculated an American biologist Bruce Edwards Ivins due to the fact that he worked
with anthrax for several years and had suicidal thoughts toward him and women
frequently and depressed. Other people question an American physician Steven

In the article The Wrong Man, it stated Reports said that Ivins harbored homicidal
urges, especially toward women. This goes to shows that there is a possibility that
his suicidal feeling toward people and himself may have triggered to come with
this terrible idea of killing people by mail and putting them in mail killing the
innocent people and later kill himself. This makes Invins a high possible candidate
for one of the people that caused the attack because maybe just maybe he would have
thought of his great plan was to poison and kill
A Brief Note On Legislation And Poor Oversight
Cause: deregulatory legislation and poor oversight Since 2001, the Federal Reserve
System chose easily monetary policy and reduced loan level again. As a result that
America began to decrease interest in the two half years. FRS totally reduced
interests in 13 times. It allowed financial institution to borrow money for unlimited
times. And then, it leaded to increase American money supplement in unusual. The
liquidity of market enhance in rush. In this situation, the financial market stimulated
consumers costs appetite and brought investors enthusiasm. At last, it became
inflation. It is clear that there are many causes leaded to the financial crisis in the
2008. However, America s macro policy is definitely the core reason for the financial
crisis. Since 1999, America began to release financial regulation. It made American
financial ecological environment break out many problems. For example, financial
derivative instruments occurred changes, value chain became longer and longer,
which leaded to a subprime crisis. Before subprime crisis happened, the American
government proposed a series of acts and policies involved limited export. American
government adopted different trade barriers for developing countries. And it also
limited technology products which push the domestic products price increase and
decrease the job opportunities. At the same time, the government controlled domestic
economical innovation power. That is also a main reason of financial crisis. Another

My grandmother had kicked her out when she became pregnant and told her she is an adult now so she needs to take care of herself and the baby. My mom worked at a fast food restaurant for the longest time and she did not have the needs to feed my brother as she needed to. • 6. The Role Of The Bird In Madame Ratignolle This goes to show to the reader how men in the 19th century treated their wives as possessions, they had a firm hold on their wives which was supported by society. Women who decided to think or act for themselves were seen as bad mothers and wives, being ostracized completely by all. Edna slowly begins to realize that she is treated and seen as a piece of property, and a part of her awakening is her realization that she as an individual, as a womanwith desires and needs, is more important than her demanding family and society. Even though throughout the novella Edna is seen adoring Madame Ratignolle, she does not want to be in her place or change herself in order to fit her role as a mother. The imagery and symbolism of the bird is depicted through the novella, where the bird is Edna. A bird represents a strong character, where it has the ability to fly and soar way from its problems ,but is trapped in a cage which is parallel to the society Edna is living in. Edna was not only the one to experience this oppression, but it was a common theme during the Victorian Era,with women being restricted to the domestic sphere, and having the acting role of a dutiful mother and wife. Edna is also shown to have a daydream in which a half naked man is observing a bird fly away, which arises a desire within her to fly away from her husband and her problems. The third person narrator is letting us know what Edna is truly feel from within. She feels

  • 8. People V Hall Analysis SOCIAL DISCRIMINATION/EXCLUSION ACTS: People v. Hall (1854), was a notable case that went down in history because it made discriminating against the Chinese seem perfectly reasonable and ethical. The jury tried to charge George Hall for the murder of a Chinese man Ling Sing. There were three Chinese witnesses, who claimed Hall was guilty, but the California Supreme court, notably Chief Justice Murray established that no black, mixed race or Chinese could testify against a white man. Hall was effectively freed, and the ruling made it okay to discriminate against the Chinese. This was followed up by the Statues of California/Chapter 13 (1858) and the Page Act of 1875, which were one of the first restraining federal migration rules that banned the entry of specific migrants considered unwanted. The statues specifically prohibited Chinese and Mongolians from entering the state except when driven ashore by weather or unavoidable accident. Furthermore, the 1880 Naturalization Law generated a system of a check for nationalization and fines for deceitful practices. It notably extended the naturalization process to people of African descent but refrained from extending it to people of Asian descent due to anti Chinese sentiment in the western states. Additionally, a distinctive aspect that sets the Chinese apart from all the other AAPI groups was the fact that they were the first Asian American group to be exposed to exclusionary acts such as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882. The Act efficiently halted Chinese immigration and prohibited Chinese from becoming naturalized citizens. It was ordained in reaction to widespread economic concerns and fear about maintaining white purity. The U.S. government did not stop; they successively issued more discriminatory acts into the law. One such proposal was the Scott Act of 1888, which banned Chinese workers abroad or who intended future travels from returning to America. The act expanded on the Chinese Exclusion Act and stranded thousands of Chinese outside the United States. Furthermore, the Chinese Exclusion Act was renewed for another decade by the Geary Act (1892). Geary Act by itself established a central system for all Chinese inhabitants in America. It became
  • 9. Patient Education For Patients And The Education Introduction Patient Education is dedicated to patients and the education we should be providing as health care professional on a day to day basis. Patient Education is one of more important jobs we do in our career as nurses. Children with chronic health problems or diseases such as on a pediatric hematology/oncology unit, require skilled, home based care by parents, supported by professionals. However, once patients are discharged, it is evident that there is a continuous need for online resources to help supplement their learning and the professional support they may have received during discharge. At this time, existing resources consist on patient/parent education at the bedside, with supplemental handouts to back up the teaching. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dedicated to serving the specialized medical needs of children, from newborns to adolescents, diagnosed with cancers such as leukemia, brain tumors, and blood related diseases such as hemophilia, this 33 bed unit often has a full census with patients waiting to get in. They provide support for family members as well as care for the unique needs of the oncology patient during all phases of their illness, diagnosis, treatment, education, and when needed, end of life care. Being that it is a pediatric unit, most of the education is done by the nurses directly to the parents or care givers of the children being treated. But often times, the care givers are given educational information while under extreme stress, still trying to process all the new information and quite often, they have not come to terms with their child s new diagnosis. Other times, the nurse may be in a hurry, or may have other challenges that factor into the lack of understanding. Some of those contributing factors could include; inadequate knowledge or training of the clinicians, inconsistencies in quality of care, changes in current practice guidelines, limited health literacy skills, conflicts with prior training implementation challenges, such as language barriers, and lastly, inadequate resources for the care givers. It was this last contributing factor that it was determined a change needed to take

  • 11. Silent Words in Art The Magdalen with a smoking flame is an art piece that was done by George De La Tour in 1640. De La Tour painted this work using oil and paint on a material known as canvas. This painting was created in France then it was moved to the one of the most respected museums of the Los Angeles county Museum of art. The size of the painting is 128cm by 94cm, by looking at this painting the elements that were used are very noticeable the texture in this work gives it a very smooth and rough feel at the same time. Looking at the painting Magdalen is sitting vertically in this painting and so is the flame . The value of this art piece is stands out as we can see all the light that illuminates Magdalen and part of the wall. You can also see that Mary Magdalen is thinking of something that is unknown to us. All of the objects in the painting including the, Skull, Book, lamp, and lighting of the candle make up the unity of this image, to better identify what Mary may be thinking as she meditates on the flame. In this painting the light is what calls the attention to the art. Magdalen is an actual character that was drawn from the bible as she sitting in solitude and gazing into a simple flame lamp (Louvre, de Musee Paris). This painting is a very religious work of art because the skull symbolizes the suffering of Jesus Christ. De La Tour is most known for depicting scenes from the bible and characters. The books that are on top of the table are represented as bibles. When I
  • 12. Crash Thomas Theorem The movie Crash by Paul Haggis is filled of sociological ideas, scrutinizing concerns of race, social class, and gender, as well as countless others. This movie displays the lives of various characters in diverse social classes including the upper middle, middle, and the lower class. In my opinion the filmCrash is one of those movies that makes an individual rethink even what someone thinks he or she knows about the world one lives in. Overall, I agree with The Thomas Theorem for multiple reasons. Essentially, this theorem expresses to people that if they believe particular situations to be real, they will develop and become real to them. An individual s own subjective reality converts their objective reality. It continues then that if they

Age: Turned 15 this year a couple of months ago. Timezone: I am in the GMT timezone. This may be to my advantage as I often see a lack of EU staff members on some servers. Location : Bristol, England. Gender: Male How many hours can you play each day? 2 5 hours on a school day, normally the latter time, however, I will soon be entering a period of heavy examination meaning I have to complete lengthy homework tasks and revise for upcoming tests so I may occasionally only be on for a couple of hours on every odd day or so. The long hours I can be available for means that I can help many people throughout their day on Velt. Have you had any past experience? Although around 5 years ago when I was somewhat immature, I was an administrator on a small survival server known as Draggoncraft then later on called VGS for about . This server would only average around 5 players playing at any one time but it was a useful experience in helping me to mature nonetheless. I learnt the basics of making sure that players are happy and whilst although the server hardly had a professional staff team, I learnt to structure and organise, to a small extent, the current staff team that there was. The owner of that small server is, if I am correct, a developer on the ParaPvP Network. More recently I was a member of The Avicus Network s staff team. The

Some of his other concerns while in office include: domestic affairs, tariff legislation, race relations, trust regulation, and foreign affairs. He had a good life and served as an amazing president during his time in the Whitehouse until his assassination. McKinley was born on January 29, 1843 in Niles, Ohio. He was the seventh child to his father, William McKinleyand his mother, Nancy Campbell Allison McKinley. As a boy, McKinley attended a one room schoolhouse in his hometown until the age of nine. At that time McKinley and his family moved to Poland, Ohio (which was nearby) so that the children could attend a private school. At age 16 he attended Allegheny Collage in Meadville, Pennsylvania where he studied for one term before he had to leave due to sickness and some financial issues he was facing. After recovering he enlisted as a private in the Civil War. McKinley joined the 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry at age 18 and was promoted to commissary sergeant at 19. He later became a Second Lieutenant because of his acts of bravery on the battlefield. This would only be the start to his success. McKinley won a seat in Congress in the House of Representatives in 1876 when he was 34 years old. He began wearing a red carnation after he noticed his opponent, Levi Lamborn, was wearing one during a debate. This became a trademark of McKinley s while
  • 15. Roman Arch Essay During the Roman Empire, the original arch was redesigned to be strong and support large structures. In the original arch, various rectangle shaped bricks were haphazardly stacked on each other with hopes of at most supporting a small room. However, the redesigned arch used precisely measured polyhedrons and trapezoidal prisms in a specific way to support each other. This developed arch led to the creation of larger builders, aqueducts, and tunnels. Many empires proceeding the Romans adapted this design to fit their specific and different needs, and arches are still used today. Therefore, using basic geometric shapes, the people in the Roman Empirerevolutionized the arch forever. The Roman Empire did not create the arch in 23 CE (Ambler). However, they adapted it from a weak arch that could barely support a small building. Before the Roman Empire, the original arch design was corbeled with congruent rectangular prisms. A corbeled arch is an arch where stones are laid so they move toward the center as they move higher (Ambler). Each rectangular prism has the properties of parallelograms, which are that opposite sides are congruent, and diagonals bisect each other, as well as all angles in the rectangle, are right angles, and the diagonals are congruent. The congruent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This evolution led to the construction of large buildings, cathedrals, and other structures used today. Over time, Byzantine architect in Eastern Europe and Romanesque architects in Western Europe (Ambler) adopted the newly designed arch and even developed it further. Through centuries, many empires borrowed this design and modified it in various ways to satisfy their different needs. In this way, the architecture of ancient Rome has a lasting impact on the world. Therefore, the mere change in the geometric shapes used in arches had a lasting impact on the world that can be seen in everyday
  • 16. Sleep Deprivation And The Sleep Sleep is a basic necessity of everyday life. According to the National Foundation of sleep, a person is required to sleep at least seven to nine hours a day. (citation) As mentioned by Matt T. Bianchi in the book Sleep Deprivation and Disease, The normal quantity of sleep depends on the individual and a myriad of other factors such as environment and an individual s waking needs. (citation) This means that the quantity of sleep that people achieve depends on their body s needs and functions. Unfortunately, according to the Nation Foundation of Sleep, twenty percent of individuals are affected by sleep deprivationeach year. This a huge number. Sleep deprivation is a lack of the required sleep a person needs in a week . It can come in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The percentage decreases after the age of fifty. Both quality and quantity are important when it comes to sleep. If one fails to acquire the appropriate amount of R.E.M sleep and sleeps less than six hours everyday for one week, then that person would have a total sleep debt of seven to fourteen hours. The effects of not sleeping properly can be felt as soon as the next day. As mentioned before, there are two types of sleep deprivation, partial sleep deprivation and total sleep deprivation. A person is considered partially sleep deprived if he or she gets less than five hours of sleep per night. If a person gets less than three hours of sleep per night, then he or she is considered sleep deprived. Sleep deprivation can either be caused by lifestyle or medical issues. Factors such as drinking coffee at night, obesity, stress, insomnia, and sleep apnea negatively affect the way one sleeps. As mentioned previously, sleep deprivation can affect one s physically. Some of these effects include: obesity, type two diabetes and heart disease. Most of these effects are cyclical. This means that it is a repeating process. Obesity is a physical illness which results in the extreme production of fat and cholesterol. Obesity is an increasing problem in the U.S. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Obesity has more than doubled since the 1980 s. The Pit And The Pendulum Summary The Pit and The Pendulum Subject Matter Brought by Edgar Allan Poe, The Pit and The Pendulum bring together dreadful sequences of the narrator being sentenced to death by the inquisitors. Black robed pale faced judges collide with power and they are the inquisitors who had imprisoned the narrator. Being that these judges are inquisitors, means that the story takes place during the Spanish Inquisition. During the inquisition time period, being sentences to death means sentenced to horrible, gruesome, and super torturous death. Upon analysis of this information, the story is set in a past tense explanation of the torture brought to the narrator by a panel of black robed pale face judges, which is an illustration of how people suffer a horrendous torture during imprisonment by the inquisition.... Brought by this, the narrator decides to take a walk inside the cell and quickly is unbraced upon a deep pit as he trips and falls while walking. As he has come forth to realize, he is safe as of now because he did not fall into the pit, but now knows how the inquisitors are preparing to torture him. In the second incident, after awakening from slumber from the first incident, the narrator then discovers a painting on the ceiling. After noticing this is a painting of Father Time he soon discovers this is no ordinary painting as the scythe of Father Time has been replaced by a pendulum that is slowly descending. Pendulum closing in, more attention is brought and now noticed that it is razor sharp, now knowing another reagent the inquisitors are using as torture towards the narrator. After much worrying, he has brought together an escape plan to get out of the bands holding him down, he grabs the meat on the cell floor being

Causes Of The Monster In Frankenstein Why the Monster Should Not be Destroyed Victor Frankenstein s monster killed many people and caused lots of irreversible disturbances, however the monster should not be murdered. Many people argue that because the monster killed, and caused many people to die that he himself should be destroyed. Many things happened that made the monster s actions justified. Without the actions of Victor, the monster would not have murdered people and caused lots of chaos. Even the person who created him did not talk to him or care for him. The monster tried to make friends and meet people but as soon as he would try and talk to someone they would run away and be scared of him. One of the main reasons that the monster caused terror is that he was misunderstood by people. He was actually a kind monster but nobody would get past his looks (He actually conducted himself nicely). They decided based on his appearance that he was murderous and intimidating. For example, in the novel, the monster was talking to the blind man then, The cottage door was opened, and Felix, Safie, and Agatha entered. Who can describe their horror and consternation on beholding me? Agatha fainted, and Safie, unable to attend to her friend, rushed out of the cottage. Felix darted forward, and with supernatural force tore me from his father, to whose knees I clung, in a transport of fury, he dashed me to the ground and struck me violently with a stick (Shelley 161). The blind old man could not tell that the monster was ugly and intimidating so he had no problem with him, the other cottagers saw him and they immediately got scared of him and beat him with a stick. He spent his life alone, with nobody to talk to and he became envious of other people. That is why he killed people, not because he is mean, but because he had no way to control his anger

  • 20. Analysis Of A Mockingbird Would you ever think that a small bird can be so important, let alone be compared to people? Well this book is based on a mockingbird. A mockingbird is an animal with innocence, and does nothing wrong except minding it s own buisness. Killing them is wrong and there wouldn t be a reason. Just like in the book, Tom Robinson, Atticus and Boo Radley were known as mockingbirds. In chapter 10 Atticus says, to Scout and Jem, I d rather you shot at tin cans in the back yard, but I know you ll go after birds. Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit em, but remember it s a sin to kill a Mockingbird. In this essay I will talk about what it means to be a Mockingbird and how it influences the characters in the book. To be a Mockingbird or to be known as one, is being represented as being innocent. A Mockingbird is an innocent being. All they do is mind their business and sing in harmony until somebody tries to hurt them after they did nothing. Characters in the book that are considered to be Mockingbirds would be Tom Robinson, Boo Radley and Scout. Tom Robinson lived a pretty average life for an African American in Alabama. Tom was hard working man despite his arm, he usually spent his days picking cotton in the hot weather of Maycomb and was pretty harmless. In my eyes he was a good example of a literal Mockingbird, an innocent harmless man who is targeted by others. When they finally saw him, why hadn t he do any of those things Tom Robinson was an innocent man who was

That modest warning label on the corner of the CD cover is not as effective as one would think. If the musicians would cut those offensive lyrics out of the music, young people would not have the idea of running into a school and shooting random people just to feel better about themselves. Ultra High Performance Concrete ( Uhpc ) 1.Introduction Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) represents a major progress step over normal strength concrete (NSC) and high strength concrete (HSC), through the achievement of very high strength and very low permeability. Basically, the UHPC is a concrete with compressive strength ranging 120 to 400 MPa, this ultra high strength is achieved through different techniques including the use of improved materials, ultra fine pozzolans (e.g. silica fume), low water cement ratio, improved quality and higher dosage of superplasticizer, use of fibers (metallic or synthetic) to increase the energy absorption capacity and decrease brittleness, high cementitious materials content, longer mixing time and heat treatment [1]. UHPC tensile strength varies from 10 to 30 MPa; and the modulus of elasticity is in the range of 60 100 GPa [2]. Using UHPC in the construction of new bridges and the renewal of existing highway bridge network can minimize maintenance requirement in the construction of new long life bridges resulting in low life cycle costs [3]. Despite its exceptional material properties, UHPC s initial construction cost is significantly higher than that of normal strength concrete (NSC), which limited its use in North America and elsewhere. To address some of the challenges facing bridge owners, the structural efficiency and cost effectiveness of using UHPC in composite construction is investigated in this paper. Therefore, combining NSC with UHPFRC in a composite

Invicta Soil Patterns Introduction The accidental introduction of the red imported fire ant Solenopsis invicta Buren (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Myrmicinae) to Alabama between 1933 and 1945 led to the eventual invasion of all of the southeastern US. Once established, the species quickly developed a reputation for both its sting and its ability to rapidly invade new habitats. As S. invicta expanded its range out of urban centers and into various other habitats, concerns arose about the ability of the species to invade pristine systems and displace native ant species. Yet, research has found that S. invicta is less of a superior competitor and more of an opportunistic, disturbance specialist. For example, a study in southeast Texas by LeBrun et al. (2012) compared the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... invicta (Stiles and Jones 1998, Forys et al. 2002). In the Florida Keys in the late 80 s, the density of S. invicta was relatively low, as invasion had not yet occurred on every island (Porter 1992). By 2002 a study by Forys et al. found high densities primarily concentrated along roadways and in edge habitats in every Key. Furthermore, undisturbed sites were more likely to be occupied if they were within 50m of a road and within 150m of high densities of urban development. This indicates that the conditions within these sites of localized disturbance allow for persistence and eventual dispersal into undisturbed sites (Forys et al.
  • 37. Essay On Alternative Fuel Alternative Fuels America needs to free itself from oil dependency. Every day billions of dollars are spent on resourcing oil from other countries. The United States consumes around 20 million barrels of oil every day. In the 1970 s when the energy crisis happened, oil prices skyrocketed and the supply of oil ceased, efforts shifted to find alternative sources of power. Although many people believe alternative fuels are being researched and developed for environmental reasons such as reducing our carbon emissions, they are actually becoming integrated into our lives from an economic standpoint. Hydrogen, Electric, and Bio fueled cars are all excellent sources of Fig. 01: National Average Retail Fuel Prices for July 2017 alternative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While electric vehicles are an excellent alternative source, they do have some drawbacks. Electric vehicles have long charge times and the infrastructure isn t fully developed all over the world. It s easy to find gas stations along the road, but how often are electric vehicle charging stations found? The placement of the structures is crucial because the chargers need to be in a good location. Authors of Retailing Management Michael Levy and Barton Weitz explain that when a firm decides to open a new station, they must make a substantial investment; either buy and develop the real estate or commit to a long term lease typically ranging from 5 to 20 years. When companies set up a charging station its more than just a place to refuel, it s an investment logically thought out as to where it should be placed. Electric vehicles are an amazing advancement but some people are turned away who are used to quick gas fill ups. Hydrogen Fuel cell is another solution to finding alternative fuel vehicles. This technology has zero emissions, a driving range of 300 miles, and can be refueled and moving again in minutes. Although this technology is more recent, the military has taken a liking to hydrogen powered cars. Initially, electric vehicles were appealing to military because of how quiet they are, but setting up charging locations is extremely difficult and the military doesn t have time to wait for their electric vehicles to charge while in combat. The hydrogen vehicle was

The real design was used as the background. This was because the entire operation of the x ray department and the future alterations were easier to show the staff. The areas of treatment as well as other operational areas, were defined in the layout by use of graphical SimQuick graphical elements. Other graphical elements included counters for waiting areas and utilization meters for areas of treatment. The counters were used for giving visual information regarding the number of patients in the areas of waiting. On the other side, the utilization meters were showing how much of the resources were been utilized. After defining all the areas, it was time for defining the entities paths and resources that are the staff. The network of the path comprises of all the probable paths that all the entities, patients, and members of staff could utilize in moving from place to place in the x ray department. After creating the paths, the structural definitions were made. The needed information for the simulation model to be functional comprised of these particulars: entities information, resources information, logic definitions and data use. Definition of entities The x ray department of the County Hospital has various departments, which include: ultrasound, computed tomography, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, and magnetic resonance imaging. • 42. The Articles By Menger ( 1998 ) Essay In this paper, we are critically appraising the articles by Menger (1892), Goodhart (1998), Rogoff (2014) and Yermack (2013) respectively. The first two papers focused on the origins of money and the theory behind this while the second two papers focused on the future of money. We will be comparing the conclusions of each author in their papers and giving commentary on them. Menger (1892) argues that money didn t originate because of government introduction, but instead that it emerged organically because the market required it. This is a direct contrast to Goodhart s (1998) view that money was given authority by government and without this, trade would revert to barter, which aligns with Yermack s (2013) conclusion that the privately generated Bitcoin is not a currency. Menger (1892) claims that trade would not exist without money because of the excessive search costs to find a double coincidence of wants and therefore barter was too inefficient to have ever occurred. He uses the term saleableness repeatedly in his paper when describing money and commodities and we must interpret what he means by this. He uses it to describe how a difference exists between all commodities in how easily one can trade with it. He talks about the almost infinite saleability of money and how this is a one off occurrence. Menger (1892) goes into detail of how some commodities are more or less saleable than others and this is where the paper gets very interesting. He gives examples of
