It outlines four key steps: 1) underline key words in the writing prompt, 2) brainstorm ideas and write them down, 3) consider appropriate linking words and phrases, and 4) build arguments into coherent sentences that flow logically from general to specific points. Examples are given of brainstorming suggestions for improving school and protecting the environment. Recommended linking words and phrases for stating opinions and giving examples are also listed. Finally, sample sentences that incorporate opinions, examples, and a smooth progression of ideas are shown.
