The document discusses the four basic elements that a good blog post should contain: 1) an interesting headline that catches readers' attention, 2) engaging content that starts a conversation, 3) links to additional relevant resources, and 4) proper tags so readers and search engines can easily find the post. Each element is important and should be carefully crafted to create an appealing post that fits with the blogger's overall site and encourages discussion.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.

Writing for the Web – The 4 Basic Elements a Good Blog Post Should Have
You have decided to become a blogger and want to know what the most basic of blog posts
should have. You’ll probably get as many answers to that question as there are people blogging
on the web. My list has four elements on it. You might find someone else with a longer or
shorter list, but I’ve chosen these four elements because I think they’re the basis for relevance
and appeal in a blog, both for your public and for the search engines.
Here they are:
1. The Headline – Give your readers a reason to take a look at your blog post with a
headline that piques their interest. It might be because the headline is funny, or because
it’s shocking, or because it’s revealing. Whichever strategy you shoot for, give your
headline some thought; don’t choose it lightly, and make sure that it remains relevant to
the content.
2. The Content – Start a conversation with your readers by giving them your opinion on a
hot topic, useful information they can learn from, or tips for improving their skills. This
way you’ll keep their interest alive far beyond the headline. The tone of your writing
should be conversational in order to maintain the discussion engaging. Don’t use off-
putting jargon or overly casual acronyms that will limit your audience. Spelling errors and
typos are off-putting, too, so don’t skip on editing your content. You can choose to
enhance your written content with images, video or sound. The images can lighten up
and/or underline parts of the text by playing off it. The video or sound could be the
original medium of the message with the text being a simple transcript. Choose whatever
combination attracts your audience most.
3. The Links – Extend the conversation you’ve started to other blogs or web sites. By
adding links to other content, written or otherwise, that can add to the information you’ve
presented, you bring more valuable know-how to your readers. They will have more
resources from which to pick from and will get a grasp of how far the topic has or can
develop.
4. The Tags – Your readers will be able to find the blog posts that are relevant to the topic
they’re looking up if you tag each post properly. The search engine bots will also know if
your content is relevant to one of their user’s queries through the tags.
It’s a blog element that can be easily overlooked or underused. Don’t do either by giving
some thought to what topics you cover on your blog and how the particular post you’re
working on touches on those themes.
You carefully craft each element; giving it the attention it deserves in order to make the outcome
as effective as possible. Then you bring them together in your blogging application of choice,
and the end result should be an interesting post that fits nicely into the body of content you’ve
created and have yet to create. Not only that, with the carefully chosen links, you’ve entered a
larger conversation and invited your readers to take part in it as well.
