Question 1:
Rebecca, you do seem quite depressed today thinking about your family s support of your efforts
in college. There are just few things I would ask we explore today.
As a MSW 1st semester student the workload is intentionally heavy. It is quite natural, and I think
most of your classmates would agree, to feel overwhelmed by the course work. Have you explored
these feeling and have your discussed the workload with your fellow classmates?
Could there be some additional pressure, as the first in your family to go to college, you are placing
on yourself? Could you be trying so hard at your work in school to please your family you are
disappointing yourself? Then when you become disappointed in yourself you resent your family for
not being supportive enough.
Question 2:
Maria, let s stop and think about what you just said for a moment. You say your father does not
listen to you and treats you like a child. So you are going to show him you understand how to
make grown up decisions. You intend to drop out of school and return to the drug... Show more

Whereas, other competitors are specialized in production of variety of products, in sports
industry. The competitors provide products such as basketball, football, cross training, outdoor
activities, women s fitness, etc. Whereas Mercury Shoes lacks these areas of products and as a
result lacks customers. Along with its main brands, Mercury Shoes must become specialize in
introducing other brands, too. So that company will enjoy more market share and slowly will
capture the entire sports related industry. Mercury Shoes must introduce special brands for women
s fitness as women spend maximum of their household income for shopping as a result company
will be in a position to earn more profits. Also, the company should introduce brands for all
possible sports equipments which are necessary for athletes. Skilled Labor The quality, skilled and
innovative labor is an important criterion for a successful sports business to compete in the
international market. Though, Mercury Shoes is having skilled labor in its production and
designing team but it is lacking with regular market updates compared to its giant competitors. To
be on a number one position, Mercury Shoes needs very intelligent, skilled, talented and excellent
employees in the organization. And to update them regularly, Mercury Shoes needs to undertake

Uae Society Culture
UAE Society amp; Culture The United Arab Emirates is home to a rich cultural heritage that has
been strongly influenced by its unique environment. The region s varied terrain, desert, oasis,
mountains and coast, dictated the traditional lifestyles that evolved over the centuries. A resilience
and resourcefulness necessary to survive in these harsh conditions was fostered by society s age
old tribal structure: each family was traditionally bound by obligations of mutual assistance to his
immediate relatives and to the tribe as a whole. Among the tribe an individual s selfless hospitality
was the source of his honour and pride. A common religion, Islam, also provided the cement that
held society together. The UAE s rich history is rooted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The UAE has undergone an extraordinary metamorphosis in the few short years since the state was
established. Today Emiratis of all ages have access to all the benefits of a modern, developed
society. But there is also an awareness that the history, culture, values and traditions of past
generations are the foundations on which the modern state is built. Both government and people
are determined that their heritage will be preserved, in line with the late Sheikh Zayed s belief that
a people that knows not its past can have neither a present nor a future . Local museums and
traditional heritage centres throughout the emirates help to introduce this heritage to younger
generations and to visitors to the country. At the same time, the UAE, capitalising on its strategic
geographical position between East and West and its open, tolerant perspective, is establishing a
wide range of new museums and creative centres, many of which are universal in nature. In addition
to encouraging creativity in the community, these new museums help to bridge cultures and
advance dialogue between civilisations. The UAE s history stretches back tens of thousands of
years, with cultural objects and art that start with tools from the Early Stone Age. Calligraphy is a
traditional art, transforming Arabic words into works of art. Today, artists explore what the modern
UAE means to them. Other aspects of the UAE s heritage and culture can be experienced in
museums and heritage centres,

Nerves-Personal Narrative
I nervously laced up my ballet shoes. Along with all the other girls, we quickly walked over to
the director. We all surrounded and tried to see him. He seemed incredibly mean, the old director
had a stern look on his face, I felt like he was staring right at me. After what seemed like forever,
he finally said something. He started calling numbers. 12, 47, 34 and 88 he shouted in a deep
booming voice. I knew what this meant, he was calling tag numbers so girls would come up and
do the number we should have learned. It definitely was incredibly hard. I probably didn t have
what it takes. The first group of girls had four of them. They all looked very similar, tall, thin with
dark brown hair. I watched them, and realized they were competition.... Show more content on

Hemp for the True American Victory
One of the first things about marijuana history that the American public still doesn t understand is
that cannabis, was once very legal to grow in the United States. In fact, up until 1883 it was one of
the largest agricultural crops in the world, including America.(The Union) But it wasn t grown for
the psychoactive plant cannabis sativa. Cannabis hemp, which carries a fraction of the amount of
THC, (the compound in marijuana that attributes to the high feeling) was and is used all over
the world, producing the overall majority of Earth s fiber, fabric, paper, and medicines.(Herer,20)
Hemp has a deep American History as well, from the gardens of George Washington and
Benjamin Franklin to the 8,327 American hemp plantations counted in the 1850 census.(Herer,15)
Yet the Federal government now recognizes cannabis as a Schedule I drug with no medical value,
and 23 States have legalized cannabis for medicinal use. (The Union) Even though some western
states such as Oregon and Colorado are making legal changes to marijuana policy at the state level,
the most beneficial marijuana law we could pass is and always has been the Nationwide
legalization of industrial Cannabis Hemp.
Hemp was legal tender in most of the Americas from 1631 to the early 1800s, you could buy
anything with hemp, even pay taxes. (Herer, 1) The first law passed on Marijuana in the

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The religious group Mormonism, better known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day
Saints, has had their share of hardship and struggles. From this adversity the church and
members have had a great impact on western civilization. Being a member myself, I can think of
many different stories that have led me to believe that the early members of the church had a
rough life. Anyone involved in the expansion westward who was willing to give up their safe
lives in the east is a hero in my eyes. One great story that has stuck in my mind is the Mormon
Battalion. The Mormon Battalion was a group of 543 men who enlisted for the sake of saving
their religious freedom. The Mormons had recently been chased out of Illinois and were going
to embark on their search for religious freedom and peace. Brigham Young the new president of
the church asked President James K. Polk for assistance to travel to the west . President Polk
didn t like the idea of granting them money to settle out of the United States territory. Luckily for
the Mormons a man by the name of Thomas Kane came to their rescue. Thomas Kane had
connections through his father to the president. He persuaded Polk to make the Mormon
Battalion. He was easily persuaded because he feared that the Mormons would fight against them
in the war. President Polk promised Young that if a battalion of 500 men were raised, he would
offer them aid. To his dismay many of the Mormons felt as though this was a plot to disband the
religion

Stop And Frisk Research Paper
Stop and frisk has two components that define the stop element as well as the frisk element. The
stop element is defined as when a law enforcement officer briefly detains an individual, and the
officer has reasonable suspicion to believe a crime has occurred, is occurring, or is about to
occur, and ask questions of the individual regarding a preliminary investigation and excludes the
requirement of probable cause (Bethel, 2015). Furthermore, the frisk element may be conducted if
the officer has reasonable suspicion the individual has a weapon, and is performed as a limited pat
down search of the outer clothing on the individual detained by the officer (Bethel, 2015). If a
weapon is discovered, the officer is authorized to conduct a more in depth investigation.... Show

The same applications are among law enforcement agencies across the nation, however, every law
enforcement agency shares the same mission to protect and to serve it s jurisdiction. In my
humble opinion, the scope for stop and frisk is an essential part of law enforcement s goal of
keeping their communities safe and protecting the citizens and it s properties. Where there s smoke,
there s more than likely going to be a fire that started the smoke or a source of heat that initiated the
smoke. The bureaucratic red tape has smothered a substantial amount of police tactics in the last
several years and common sense allows us to notice a serious decrease in respect towards law
enforcement as well as limited actions law enforcement can apply to situations because they
appear too militarized or overkill. For example, it was due to stop and frisk that allowed an
officer to stop and frisk a suspect named Wayne Williams in Atlanta, Georgia, after the officer
heard a splash in a river nearby and observed Williams driving off a bridge that went over the
waterway. The officer was able to initiate a stop and frisk, that led to the discovery of a murdered
victim and identified the suspect because of this tactic (Marcou, 2010). This is only one of many
incidents of how this tactic is critical for law enforcement to apply towards their overall goal of
keeping citizen s and their communities

Money, Money, Money
America is recognized as a place where if you work hard enough you can become wealthy. In
fact, the U.S. has more millionaires than any other country in the world. However, for all that
prosperity, the gap between rich and poor has always been large. People have been attempting to
fix this inequality for over a century now. Andrew Carnegie, a Scottish immigrant who became the
second richest man in America by dominating the steel industry, and Terence V. Powderly, an
American attorney, labor union leader, politician, and best known as head of the Knights of Labor,
were among the first to propose solutions. Carnegie s idea, called The Gospel of Wealth, ... Show

The former thought that money should be in the hands of the wealthy, who were in his mind
better equipped to handle it. Carnegie also argued against the wasteful use of capital in the form
of extravagance or self indulgence, instead, promoting philanthropy. As a result, the wealthy
would administer their riches beneficially and not in a way that encourages the slothful, the
drunken, the unworthy (Carnegie). Meanwhile, Powderly argued that the masses should have
the possibility of bettering their own lives. Through the common man s access to money,
Powderly believed that they could achieve not only better living conditions, but a happier
society in general, all while decreasing the ever growing gap between the rich and the poor
(Powderly). While Carnegie s idea of the wealthy providing a better society for the underdog is
appealing, Powderly s idea of a level playing field is more realistic and should be used in order to
deal with the phenomenon of wealth

Wetland Research Paper
When most people think of wetlands the first thing that will pop into their mind will be visions
of swamps and flooded plains. These marshy lands would seem to have no purpose, while in
reality they are the most precious form of ecosystem that we have in America. Wetlands contribute
to biodiversity, clean water, flood control, and provide a habitat for millions of species of plants
and animals. Even with all this wetlands still face mass destruction, much like the rain forests they
are just as productive and face similar rates of devastation (Mitchell, J. (1992, October). Our
Disappearing Wetlands National Geographic, Pg 15).

However, appearances may be deceiving. The unique environment of vernal pools provides
habitat for numerous rare plants and animals that are able to survive these harsh conditions.
Many of these plants and animals spend the dry season as seeds, eggs, or cysts, and then grow and
reproduce when the ponds are flooded again. In addition, birds such as egrets, ducks, and hawks use
vernal pools as a seasonal source of food and water (Marshall, 1978).
br
br Prairie potholes are a very beneficial wetland that is home to dozens of migratory waterfowl.
They are found primarily in the Upper Midwest, especially North Dakota, South Dakota,
Wisconsin, and Minnesota. This formerly glaciated landscape is covered with a vast number of
potholes, which fill with snowmelt and rain in the spring. Some prairie pothole marshes are
temporary, while others may be virtually permanent. Here, as in other marshes, submerged and
floating aquatic plants take over the deeper water; while bulrushes and cattails grow closer to
shore, and wet marshes lie next to the upland. These wetlands are a sort of cousin to vernal pools,
sharing the same location, and seasonal waters. (Marshall, 1978).
br
br Another infamous type of wetland is the bog. These wetlands have for centuries have been
shrouded with mystery. Bogs are known for their ability to produce peat, which is just as valuable
as coal. They also have the ability to preserve things, one such incident in 1987 where a

Using Steroids In Sports
According to steroids in sports (n.d.) discussed that the 1930 steroid was invented by Dr.

people started using them in sports. Some of the athletes have been starting using drugs which

athletes performances more incredibly amazing and spectacular. However, they don t really notice
the terrible effects of these kinds of drugs in long term using. Moreover, using these kinds of
drugs is like a coin. It has both positive and negative sides for using steroid.
Opponents of steroid prohibition argued that steroids will enhance their performance in
competitions (Linnaeus, 2015). It is understandable that all the athletes want to make their
performances as great as possible. Also, they all want to attain better levels of performances, to

The Vanished Settlements Summary
In chapter 5, The Vanished Settlements , John Viele reveals information about the 21 year span
of life on the Keys. The Civil War, living conditions, mosquitoes, fresh water, and isolation are
some of the main hardships that many of the settlers had to experience, but only a few could
endure the setbacks and live prosperous lives, as well as their families. Henry Geiger, Temple
Pent, and Happy Jack were the most prosperous men during the hard times of the KeyWest, and
through others around them, their stories can now live on. Viele tells us only a few families

Henry made his living through the hauling and selling of wood, tanning deer, and growing
vegetables and fruits, Viele says. Henry had managed the mosquitoes and lived a very successful
life. Captain Temple Pent, was self educated, a skilled seaman, and pilot. Viele informs us, Pent
was at sea at an early age of his life. At the age 16 he began to tend to a piece of land, better known
today as Coconut Grove. After Florida was bought by the US, he became a citizen and had a
family. Because of his reputation at sea, Commodore Porter offered Pent to serve as a squadron
official. Pent moved his family to Key Vacas when the Seminole became violent, and eventually
fled to Key West. Records show that Pent was appointed Inspector of Elections in 1836 and held
leadership in a 100 population community. In 1860s, he was the Florida lighthouse keeper and
lived there till his death in 1868. Viele shows that Pent had a lot of political success.
Happy Jack had a plantation that grew various fruits and excellent sweet potatoes , as a 1856
surveyor notes. Viele tells us that Happy Jack s story is very blurry and comes from two different
sources, one a writer whose article appeared in a Putnam s Monthly paper and the other is a friend.
Happy Jack was one of the members of a happy go lucky band.

Amy Tan Fish Cheeks Essay
Fish Cheeks
The essay Fish Cheeks by Amy Tan takes place in her teenage years and it s about something that
happened at that time. On the day of Christmas Eve, Amy s mother invites the minister and his
family over, who are Americans, so that both families can celebrate together. For dinner that
Christmas, Amy s mom had prepared all of her favorite foods (like fish cheeks). However, even
though her favorite foods were served, she constantly felt mortified through out the night. From the
love of her life, also known as the minister s son, Robert, who was at the dinner table, all the way
to the cultural differences in manners caused Tan to depreciate her familytraditions on that
Christmas dinner because she was unaware of what the American family was thinking of her
Chinese traditional dinner. However as we age and become older we also gain a lot of wisdom and
understanding of the reality we live in through hard times and challenging situations, which we
witness happening with Tan in her essay.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thought shots. She would constantly feel embarrassed from the moment the American family
arrives all through the very end of Christmas Eve dinner. Considering the smelly and gross
looking Chinese traditional dishes also the loud and weird acting relatives, I witnessed a good
imagery from the way Amy describes them. The main concerns to Tan are how and what the
American family thinks of them. In my life I also struggled with internally wanting approval from
the others however I got over it by realizing that the external reality cannot control how I feel. Later
on in the story her mother gets to explain how to deal with her emotions and shows her compassion

Phone Related Distractions
When it comes to the rules of the road no faulted action should be reciprocated with inaction. Just
as a drunken driver has the choice to walk away from their car, the driver receiving a text message
while driving also has the choice to leave the phone.
Like driving inebriated, driving distracted, much less with a phone, is a reckless act that needs to be
controlled. Recent studies show that driving distracted accounts for 10% of car accident fatalities in
the US and while drunk driving accounts for 31% of car fatalities, more than the former, it is
important to know that today smartphone ownership continues to grow. Reports from State Farm

One thing phone related distractions, like talking on a cell phone, or reading and sending texts and
emails behind the wheel all have I common is the ability to impair the attention and cognitive
ability of the driver.
According the Journal of Experimental Psychology hands free cell phone conversations have been
found to create inattention blindness and impair driver s reactions to vehicles braking in front of
them. If driving while using a device that uses the least amount control of the driver can impair one
s focus, what other dangers can these distractions do in full force?
Unfortunately, the other issue that associates itself with distracted driving is the demographic that
is affected by this act. The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) states that Drivers
under the age of 20 have the highest proportion of distraction related fatal crashes . Like the drunk
driver, distracted driving targets the youth and while this truth is unbearable the facts hopefully
create more perspective on solutions. While affordable fines may temporarily stop teens from using
their cellular devices, higher fines and stealthier consequences do a better job of giving teens an
understanding of the recklessness of their behavior. Through the implementation of drunk driving

Ember Book Comparison
Compare Contrast Essay Could you imagine living in a world underground that has no light and
is losing resources very quickly by the day? Well, the City Of Ember by Jeanne Duprau will help
you imagine that. The book, City of Ember was published in May 2003. Jeanne Duprau wrote
this attention grabbing book because she wanted to put the thought in our minds to not take the
simple things like food, water, lights, and a roof over our head for granted. In this book the
similarities outnumber the differences. In both the movie and the book Lina is curious about the
mayor s actions and the government s decisions. On Lina s way to give the mayor a message she
finds herself getting lost in the building and lurking around where she isn t supposed to be and
seeing questionable things that her eyes shouldn t be seeing. Equally important to the plot of this
book is that in both the book and movie Lina and Doon switch jobs which causes them to find out
some big things, but I wouldn t wanna spoil... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the begging of the movie when Lina and Doon are exploring the pipeworks looking for clues
and hints for someway to get out of Ember, they run into a huge problem, an oversized mole that
tries eating them. Which trusts me that made for a very interesting added scene. The second
difference is at the end of the story when Lina and Doon drop a note down to the city from above it
ends up going to Doons father instead of going to Mrs.Murdo in the book. They drop the note
down so the citizens of ember will find the note and read the directions on how to get off the
quickly dying city. Not to mention that in the beginning of the movie Lina doesn t end up going
up to the bell tower ( where she isn t supposed to be) which means the leader of the city, Mayor
cole doesn t get a bad start with her. Which causes him not to assume she s the one spreading the
rumors about him stealing the food and hiding

Ventricular Serptal Syndrome
A ventricular septal defect (VSD) is a defect due to an abnormal connection between the lower
chambers of the heart. A heart has four chambers. There are left and right upper chambers, which
are called an atrium, and left and right lower chambers, called a ventricle. The ventricular septal
defect is a hole that occurs between the left and right pumping chambers of the heart.
This ventricular defect occurs because of problems in the early development of the heart. There is
no clear cause of a ventricular septal defect but most doctors think that genetics play a role. It s a
very common defect and it s common for this defect to come with other congenital heart defects. It
happens during fetal development, when the muscular wall fails to form ... Show more content on

Small defects usually cause none to few problems. Medium and large defects can cause more severe
problems. These range from mild to life threatening complications. Pulmonary hypertension can last
for years or a lifetime. It is a type of high blood pressure that affects arteries in the lungs and heart.
It increases the blood flow to the lungs, affecting the lung arteries, which can cause them to become
permanently damaged. This complication can cause the reversal of blood flow through the hole,
which is Eisenmenger syndrome. Endocarditis is another complication that could come about, but it
is less common and occurs more in adults. It is an infection of the heart s inner lining, causing
inflammation of the heart valve. This is only short term, so it resolves within days or weeks. Lastly,
other heart problems include abnormal heart rhythms and valve

The Accomplishments Of Sam Houston
Contrary to the typical stereotypes of Texans, Sam Houston was much more than a drunkard and
an excellent gunslinger. Although, he possessed these traits as well, Houston displayed a certain
level of maturity, honor, and critical thinking that most men, or even women, at the time did not
own. To assume Sam Houston was a one trick pony, or only skilled in one aspect merely because
of his heritage and place of birth would be an understatement, as his father was a major . The tall,
handsome troublemaker did not fit in with the standard expected of boys or men during his time,
however, he is one of the most revered political figures not only in Texass history, but also the
history of the nation as a whole. Houston held numerous political... Show more content on

After a few years of going to church with his family fervently on Sundays, fourteen year old Sam
lost his father, which later on would describe as Only one for passion, a military life .
In his early life, and for the rest of it, Sam Houston s reputation was that of a rebel and a
troublemaker due to the problems he would get himself into. Subsequently, he did not work as
hard or as fervently as his siblings during his childhood, whether it be on the family farm or the
general store they owned in Maryland, and that particularly undesirable trait would follow him into
his death. Sam ran away multiple times a child and young adult, finding himself among a new
family separate to his own that he did not expect to become affiliated with. However so, he grew
closer to this adopted family than his own, becoming an honorary member of this group; Houston
became an honorary member of the three hundred person Cherokee tribe led by forty five year old
Chief Oo loo te ka , whose name means He who puts away the drum in English. Houston himself
stated he preferred the company of nature and the Indians to the tyranny of his brothers and did
not return to his mother for more than a year later, regardless of his brother s pleading.

Hepataminophen Research Paper
As a widely used analgesic and antipyretic agent, acetaminophen (APAP) overdose induced
hepatotoxicity is one of the most common causes of acute liver failure in the USA and in most
Western European countries [1]. Although a number of studies have forced on the influences of N
acetyl p benzoquinone imine (NAPQI), a highly reactive metabolite of APAP that depletes hepatic
glutathione, and increases in oxidative stress during APAP toxicity [2], other mechanisms such as
immune response also raise the susceptibility in the early stages of APAP induced liver injury [3].
Accumulating evidence demonstrates a critical role of inflammatory cytokine released in early
liver damage after APAP intoxication [4, 5]. Kupffer cells (KCs), the liver resident macrophages,
are major sources of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inflammatory... Show more content on

Thus, there is an urgency to evaluate the effects of immune response on APAP toxicity using a
human KCs and hepatocyte co culture system. Since a 3D multicellular system containing
hepatocytes and other non hepatocytes can better reflect the cell cell interactions of a real situation
[11], in this study, we used the 3D liver microtissues consisting of primary human hepatocytes
(PHH) and KCs (1 : 1) to study the inflammation mediated hepatotoxicity after acetaminophen
overdose.
Because large doses of LPS cause severe liver injury, whereas small doses of LPS results in the
absence of liver damage [6], there is a necessity to determine the optimal dosage of LPS.
Therefore, we first carried out a pilot dose finding study to explore the dose of LPS that can
stimulate the production of cytokines without inducing massive cell death of PHH and KCs cells.
Meanwhile, we also tested a few doses of APAP LPS co exposures to get an impression on the
abilities of these combinations to induce the cytotoxicity and cytokine

The techniques that are used by all fraternities and sororities are called rushing and hazing. Rushing
is the act of popularizing a given fraternity or sorority to attract new members. As mentioned in
the introduction, the alternate forms of rushing cover a large spectrum, but they all have the
same goal: be the best to attract the best. Hazing is another variable method closely aligned with
fraternities and sororities, but hazing for different fraternities and sororities can have vastly
different outcomes. Hazing, in its most simple and basic form, is the imposition of strenuous or
complicated tasks as a form of initiation. In contrast to popular belief, a lot of normal activity is
considered hazing. For example, a college football team might tell the freshman that they are
responsible for cleaning up loose garbage on the field after a practice. As mild as this example
might be, hazing can be taken to an extreme and often has poor outcomes that can severely
damage the psyche of an individual. However, a sense of tradition and continuation continually
inspires hazing among social groups, but fraternities and sororities especially. Hazing has become
a form a bonding that allow new initiates to become closer as a brotherhood or sisterhood; these
two both being the most important part of fraternities and sororities. To create an everlasting bond,
Greek organizations promote ultimate a familial intimacy that is unparalleled by other social
groups. It is in this strive for brotherhood and sisterhood that mistakes are made and people begin to

After a successful landing for the crew, the men held to each other s elbows, suddenly unable to
breathe, it seemed. Their faces grew pale. (Bradbury 33). The men were filled with fear as to
what they saw: Mars looked exactly like the old town on Earth they all grew up in. This
portrayal of setting develops the fear of the unknown because it is the exact opposite of what
Mars was believed to look like. Bradbury goes on to set this expedition in context
chronologically with the previous two mission. Some of the men believed that Captain
Williams and his crew of three men! Or Nathaniel York and his partner. would be able to justify
how they had landed in an Earthly town, but Captain Black pointed out the York expedition was
only a year ago, while Captain Williams and his men landed here some time during last August.
and William and his men, as well as York, landed on the opposite side of Mars. (34). The men
were looking for a justification as to why Mars was so Earthlike, but Bradbury brilliantly counters
all points through explicitly detailing the setting as one that could not overlap with the present.
This exudes fear of the unknown as there is no given solution as to what lies ahead of Captain

The setting of August Wilson s Gem of the Ocean is 1904 Pittsburgh. It has been 40 years since the

The incidents in this excerpt that Citizen describes were not uncommon for that time. During the

country. Although the concept may have appeared ideal a number of companies made more
money from cheating their workers than from what they produced. During the boom in textile,
coal, steel and other industries, workers often earned what s called scrip instead of real money: a
kind of credit they couldn t spend anywhere but the company store, where prices were often higher
than elsewhere. (Hirsch) A real life example can be seen in that of the Pullman Place Car

Key Characteristics Of Organizational Development In The...
Organization development is a system wide method of organized change directed towards refining
overall organization efficiency by way of augmented similarity of such key organizational factors as
external environment, mission, tactic, governance, customs, organization, information and
incentive practices, and work strategies and techniques. Organization development is about aiding
individuals and organizations change successfully. Experts in a variation of positions can apply
organizational development in various settings, and in any type of organization. While emerging as
a discipline in the 1960 s, Richard Beckhard defined organizational development key characteristics
as planned, organization wide and managed from the top. These three key characteristics are
important because they boost organizational effectiveness and well being through mediations in the
organization s developments, by applying behavioral science knowledge. However, innovators of
organizational development in the 1960s were still mostly pre occupied with interferences at either
an individual or group level, primarily to enable incremental alterations, relatively than the whole
system, large scale intercessions which describe the calculated change labors and ingenuities that
are applied today. Organizational development came about due to the initiatives of key workers in
the 1960s, through the expansion of T groups and the knowledge increased from those
organizations, from Lewin s work on revolution

loved the awards he obtained. The musicians he played with inspired and encouraged his music. The
people he played with was Monk Hazel, Phil Zito, and the Junior Dixieland Band. Therefore, Pete
Fountain is known as one of the most spirited clarinetists of his time.

My Earliest Memory Of Science
My earliest memory of science in elementary school was in first grade. I remember walking into
the classroom early in the morning and seeing plant pots lined up in the back of the room. Of
course one of us asked, Mrs. Denny, what are those for? She answered like any experienced
teacher We will get to those after lunch. Thank you for noticing though. As a young student, I
was more interested about taking the plant home to my mom and showing her what I did. After
lunch, we went on a walk to the atrium in the center of the school. Mrs. Denny pointed out the
different kinds of plants that were in the atrium like flowers, and other small plants. We walked
back to our classroom and talked about what a plant needs to grow and finally got to make a
plant ourselves. We each had a cup of water, a cup of soil, a pot, and a plant. I also remember in
third grade learning about the weather by creating a big picture of the water cycle with the
clouds and why there is lightening and thunder. After we made the picture, we each got to write
down a question about weather and Mrs. Heffernan went over each one. I loved science when I
was little because I was able to explore and try new things. I struggled in math and reading
because they were very black and white but science allowed creativity. I enjoyed science in
elementary school because it was very hands on so I didn t have to sit in my seat. I would define

This was interesting to me because I had never really noticed that before. I thought it showcased
how much our culture focuses on youth compared to the elderly as the signs were mainly
advertised with young and beautiful faces. Also, I was surprised that there were no items
featuring Native American representation. Especially with Haskell here in Lawrence, I expected
to see at least a few things with Native American representation but that wasn t the case. Overall,
my conclusion from visiting Target is that the store very well demonstrated what our culture
showcases as the ideal beauty or standard for individuals as it primarily showed young good
looking white people (whether on the signs or in the toys), able bodied (not much recognition of
physically challenged or signs featuring them), thin (no plus size section and very few signs

huge problem because it s not representative of our world and through this lack of representation of
others it seemingly puts out the idea that the only form of beauty is young, white, thin, able bodied,

The Multivisions of Multiculturalism Essay
The Multivisions of Multiculturalism
ABSTRACT: The questions suggested by the term multiculturalism range far and wide, embracing:
questions of inclusion; questions of criteria; questions of self identity; and questions of the meaning
of multiculturalism. In this essay I provide a framework: (i) that allows us to begin a discussion
that might answer such questions; (ii) that illuminates why it is that such a modest aim is the most
we can hope for at this time; and (iii) that provides an understanding of what we can do in a
multicultural world in order to illuminate what we should do. This framework will reject both the

This framework will prove to parallel a classic Hobbesianism, a universally undesirable result that
will, paradoxically, provide further direction and reason for hope.
1. One immediate response by many in the USA to such questions is an appeal to the ideal of
tolerance an ideal that Sir Isaiah Berlin, perhaps more than any thinker in our time, has defended.
Berlin s central argument for toleration is that belief in the one true view has repeatedly led to
disaster: One belief, more than any other, is responsible for the slaughter of individuals on the
altars of the great historical ideals... This is the belief that somewhere, in the past or in the future,
in divine revelation or the mind of the individual thinker, in the pronouncements of history or
science, or in the simple heart of an uncorrupted good man, there is a final solution. (1) A second
argument that Berlin offers for toleration is that we have no right to insist that all be educated in
our way, unless we know that we are pure and good precisely what we do not and cannot know.
As Tolstoy argued, the history of education is a history of tyranny, where each new school struck
off one yoke only to put another in its place. (2) But about one thing they were all agreed: that one

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy And Mental Health Disorders...
Introduction
Struggling with depression during adolescence stage constantly wondered me what clinical
approach can treat depression. Rather than relying on medications, clinical therapies are more
effective to cure a variety of mental disorders. Although there are numerous psychological and
physiological treatments to cure depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT] will effectively
treat depression as well as other mental health problems. Commonly used by most mental health
experts, cognitive behavioral therapy is a short term, problem focused form of behavioral treatment
that helps people see the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and subsequent
behavior patterns and actions. (GoodTherapy.org) Thus, cognitive behavioral therapy is an
adequate model practice for practitioners to treat not only depressed disorders but also other mental
health disorders.
History
As stated in Psych Central and Beck Institute, with the long historical roots, CBT was established
by Aaron T. Beck in the 1960s. (Beck Institute) After Sigmund Freud s experimental psychology
and the influence of behaviorism, Behavior Therapy was first introduced to reduce problematic
manifestations of behavior by using well defined and strictly validated scientific principle
techniques which expanded to mind body psychotherapy (Psych Central) To be specific, in 1920s,
operant conditioning, classical conditioning and social learning theory were utilized by numerous

A Hero As A Hero
Imagine if you were in a world without heroes that are brave, hardworking and show self
sacrifice. It would be a total nightmare if everything will be disorganized. If a hero shows they
are brave they will be respected and everyone will look up to them as a role model. For example,
people that are veterans, policemen, and firefighters show us the US citizens every day that they
will fight in a war to save our country no matter what it takes. For a heroto show self sacrifice they
put other people first in a life treating citation. For instance, a criminal comes into a store an older
man immediately goes in front of a little girl by herself. Hero won t think he will just do it even
if it puts his life in danger. Lastly, a hero is someone who is hard working. Say a person does not
get the job they want, they never give up and stick to it and work hard. A hero may make some
mistakes along the way but they remain brave show self sacrifice and work hard.
A hero is someone who is very brave. For instance, a person who is brave enough to speak their
mind about controversial issues is a hero. For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. stood up for all
the colored people who did not have a voice. He was aware of the possible consequences of his
actions, which included putting himself in danger; however, he still stood up for what he
believed in. He was a hero because he bravely sacrificed himself to help others have equal rights
in America. When a person does good things for someone else in need they are showing they like
to help others. When people help others in need that makes them a good person and you never
know who what will happen if you help that person. In the end, a hero is a role model to people all
over the world who want to be like him.
An excellent example of a hero is Pfc. Tristan Segers. In the article Soldier home After losing his
leg in Afghanistan Tristan Segers keeps going with his life not feeling bad about his leg. I just
told all the doctors that I didn t want my life to be different than it was before (Fiege 68). Even
though Tristan was knocked down, he got right back up and stayed strong. A hero is also someone
who inspires people to do good on their part. In this case, Tristan has a lot of

Livestock Grazing Can Affect The Watershed Properties By...
Livestock grazing can affect the watershed properties by altering plant cover and by compaction
of the livestock s hooves. Reductions in the vegetation cover may: increase the impact of
raindrops, decrease soil organic matter and soil aggregates, increase surface soil crusts, and
decrease water infiltration rates [2]. These effects can cause an increase in runoff, a reduction in soil
water content, and increased erosion. The impacts of grazing can vary naturally, but it mainly
depends on the area and time, due to climate, vegetation, intensity and duration of livestock. There
are few studies that have attempted to justify the natural variations. Documentation of the power
and duration of grazing has been poorly or completely disregarded [2].
Water is one of the most important products derived from rangelands and forests. The forests and
watersheds should be viewed as watersheds and secondarily for their food, forage, wood,
wildlife, and social. Watersheds are very diverse in their natural erosion, high flooding rate
behavior, and high amounts of sediments. In some areas, plant cover and soil layers have not
developed appropriately to make an influence on how water is generated from the land. For more
extensive areas, plant cover and soil mantle have developed to exert a high degree of control on the
reception and disposition of precipitation. Low rates of erosion, normally moderate peak stream
discharges, normally small sediment loads, and optimum infiltration are the

The Main Characteristics Of Emerging Markets
The main characteristics of emerging markets
Introduction
In recent years, there has been a growing concern about the emerging markets, and it is kind of new
economic markets in developing countries which likes mature markets but does not meet a criterion
of it,and emerging markets is a relevant concept when it comes to the developed countries. While a
variety of definitions of the term of emerging markets have been suggested, this essay will use the
definition suggested by Arnold and Quelch(1998)who saw it as countries that satisfy two
standards, first is a rapid pace of economics increasing, and second is government policies supporting
economic liberalisation and the adoption of a free market system.
This essay attempts to focus on five main characteristics of emerging markets which consists
of:first,high growth and high returns,second,increasing of investment,third,high
volatility, fourth, capital markets are less mature than developed countries, and the last characteristic
is lower than average per capita. These characteristics would be explained in details and be given
some examples to support them, and in comparison with mature fair, followed by a discussion of the
impact about the new markets to country.
The background of emerging markets
First of all, before the emerging markets began to growth rapidly, it have gone through a long
period of development, from the second world war to the 80s or 90s twentieth Century, there were

Rhetorical Analysis of Andrew Shepherd s Speech in Movie,...
A president has to have character, right? I mean, if the leader of the free world has no substance,
nothing special about him, then how do we as citizens know that he is capable as far as foreign
policies go. How do we know that we can trust him to make wise decisions? How do we know that
he will tell us the truth? This concept is exactly what fictional president Andrew Shepherd
successfully conveys in his Address to the Press on Bob Rumson and the Crime Bill. In the movie,
The American President, Andrew Shepherd becomes romantically involved with crime bill lobbyist
Sydney Ellen Wade. Many characters, including Bob Rumson, believe that the relationship between

The Constitution is the very first concrete document that lasted in this country. It was made by the
very first citizens and it was made with pride. Before the constitution came to life the United States
was looked upon, by many nations, similarly to a child attempting to grow up too fast. Great
Britain, the country that the constitution freed us from, did not think the United States was going to
make it alone. Great Britain was right. The United States could not make it alone. The United States
needed something to help it along. They needed the constitution. Because of this strong link
between the constitution and the survival of the United States, many patriots, including Shepherd,
have an emotional attachment to the constitution. Because of that link many patriots perceive
attacks on the constitution as personal attacks. In this excerpt from the speech, Shepherd is found
attacking Rumson by using one of the most powerful emotional strategies, appealing to ones sense
of patriotism. He questions Rumson s national pride by saying that Rumson doesn t support the
Constitution. What true patriot wouldn t love and support the reason that this country exists? In
that same swift action, Shepherd affirms his own image as a patriot. I am a card carrying member of

Overprotective Parenting
Individual children are significantly impacted by the parenting style and behaviours of their
caregivers as it influences the way they perceive the world and life skills they acquire. All parents
aim to shield their children from danger, illness and other harm, although there are some that
protect their offspring excessively. Despite the best intentions of mothers and fathers,
overprotective parentingor helicopter parenting can have adverse effects of the long term wellbeing,
growth and development of children.
The tendencies of unduly protective parents are motivated by their attempt to assist their children.
The overprotective parent may aspire to excessively safeguard their children from any prospect of

Children who are subject to overprotective parenting may be more neurotic, dependant, self
conscious, anxious and immature [Fontaine 2015]. Nemo shows signs of immaturity as he
swims off the drop off on his own just to spite his father. Moreover, he is often anxious about
himself and self conscious about his little fin saying I can t swim! and having lower self esteem.
The characteristics of over restrictive care givers can fail to instil virtues and values such as
responsibility, courage, self esteem, self respect and confidence [H. Williams 2011]. Personally,
I sometimes feel like I do not have the confidence to make decisions for myself and organise
myself as I am always bombarded with unsolicited help from others. The solutions to helicopter
parenting consist of sanctioning children to make mistakes and resolve their own problems [H.
Williams 2011] as well as to never do anything that they can do for themselves. The reduction of
excessive parenting behaviours can help children to have learn appropriate fear responses,
develop social skills and even intelligence [H. Lents 2018]. An example of appropriately protective
parenting is evidenced when Marlin supports and believes in Nemo as he had decided on a
strategy to save the tuna from being captured by the fishermen. To expand on this, it portrays the
changing of Marlin s parenting style and attitude

and his conscience does not think that this thought is normal. The farm house represents a point
in life, something the speaker is not trying to reach. Robert Frost writes the poem using iambic
tetrameter. which follows the beat of a horse. The rhythm of the poem further alludes that the
horse is a part of the speaker. Death is further mentioned in the poem when the speaker says. In
between the woods and frozen lake (7) . In Norse Mythology. the underworld is called Hel. and
is located in the frozen region of Niflheim. Robert Frost puts Hel and Heaven near each other to
show how close the boundaries between the two are. The darkest evening of the year (8) shows
how deep the speaker s depression is. This depression bolsters the speaker s suicidal thoughts.
These thoughts connect to the thin line between Heaven and Hel. In the third stanza of the
poem, the horse, the speaker s conscience, realizes the speaker s intention, and interrupts the the
tranquil surroundings. When the horse gives it s harness bells a shake (9), it is trying to gain
the speaker s attention. The speaker believes that the horse is trying to make the man realize how
bad an idea suicide would be, as that would cause him to go to Hel (10). The speaker
acknowledges the horses intent, and realizes the foolishness of suicide. Sensory imagery is used to
show how easy suicide would be.

Arguments For And Against Gay Adoption
In a study of sexual abuse, 269 cases only two of those cases the offenders were gay. Adoption of
homosexuals should be allowed because they are no different from heterosexual parents, the
only difference is preference on gender of their partner. People still to this day deny service to
these people just because of that. Gay and lesbian adoption should be allowed because children
would actually get adopted, homosexual parenting has no disadvantages to heterosexual
parenting, and their children would be more accepting to differences. In today s world
heterosexual couples don t adopt much and the most common resort to having the children be
adopted is with homosexual couples. Homosexual couples are six times more likely to foster
children and four times more likely to adopt (Davis 1). In some areas homosexual adoption isn t
common because they tend to deny them of the access to do so due to their sexual preference. In
the areas that allow it there have been over 65,000 children have found homes in the U.S.
because of gay adoption ( Arguments for and Against Gay Adoption ). In many other cases people
tend to find gay adoption a great thing because with it many more kids will be adopted and they
also find nothing wrong with it. According to Susan McConnell, the founder and director of Let It
Be Us a non profit adoption center Across the country and especially in Illinois, we just do not have

The Triptych Summary
In the catalytic egg article, speculative chemistry was not a religions attempt but rather all the
reasonable, true blue exploration of refining, whose research center strategies shape the premise of
present day science. it was certain that the point and relationship of Bosch s most striking work, the
gathered garden of regular satisfactions triptych, looks to some degree like a fundamental reactant
moral story that disentangles refining as the rehashing creation, decimation, and revival of the
world and its tenants. The substitute extremes were stood out from Adam and Eve in the garden of
Eden, who were joined by Christ as a conclusive pro and specialist. The second step was the growth
of Adam and Eve into the all inclusive community of the world, contrasting with the dynamic
unification of the four segments into a balanced, whole body. By then came organize three, the
troublesome cleaning process, or ruining and obscuring of the arrays of the gatekeepers and their
adolescents, accomplished by hearing the scientific expert s fixings in the most smoking fire
possible. It was symbolized by torment, mutilation, and segment of the converse segments
heretofore taken part in marriage, and Bosch painted his version of it on the third leading group of
the triptych, depicting the most despicable scene of hellfire, torment, and immolation anytime

flat tire.
Nowadays, many drivers have roadside assistance services that will come fix your flats, but it s

Find a safe spot to pull over. If you re on the freeway, taking the next exit is the safest bet, even if
you have to drive on a blown tire. Otherwise, pull as far onto the shoulder as possible. Don t park
in the middle of a curve where approaching cars can t see you. Also, choose a flat spot; jacking up
your car on a hill can be a disaster
2.Turn on your hazard lights. Get the jack, wrench, and spare tire from the trunk of the car and
bring them over to the tire that is flat.
3.Use the wrench to loosen the lug nuts. You may need to remove the hubcap. Don t remove the lug
nuts at this point; simply loosen them by turning the wrench to the left (counter clockwise).
4.Use the jack to lift the vehicle off the ground. Different car models may have different places to
put the jack; consult your owner s manual for specific locations. Once the jack is securely in the
correct spot, jack up the car until the tire is about 6 inches off the ground.
5.Remove the lug nuts and pull the tire off the car. Make sure to place the lug nuts together, and
pull the tire straight toward you to remove it from the wheel base.
6.Place the spare on the car. Line up the lug nut posts with the holes in the spare, and push the
spare all the way onto the wheel base until it can t go any

Belief Systems In Australia Essay
Introduction: Belief systems have positively affected society, as can be seen in Australia,
Switzerland, and my home country Indonesia. Although conflicts happen because of belief systems,
such as the discrimination of indigenous peoples ( United Nations Declaration on the Rights of
Indigenous Peoples, 4 5), it will continue to affect the world this way unless certain actions are
taken, but I am hopeful that beliefsystems will continue to be a positive impact towards the world.
Global Perspective: Belief systems play a positive role in maintaining peace in Australia, such as
Christians and Muslims sharing a safe haven together, but Christianity has 3 major positive
influences today in Australia: the well known international band Hillsong, and it can prove its
positive effects by attracting a few hundred thousand people to a camp or a Praise and Worship

positive influence because Indonesian Christianity is a minor religion. Human rights are needed for

a positive influence towards Indonesia because it teaches Indonesians to help unfortunate people,
and prevent discrimination against them, in particular indigenous peoples and the poor ( United
Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, 4 5). This shows that belief systems
benefit Indonesia by helping unfortunate people. As a Indonesian Christian, I am also willing to
help the poor because they live a bad life, whereas I live a good life, going to school, getting good

Hope Is A Thing With Feathers Metaphor
Explication of hope is a thing with feathers
In hope is a thing with feathers Emily Dickinson uses a metaphor that compares hope to a bird and
imagery to describe hope as a bird. She tells the readers that hope is small and fragile, but it can
survive the worst of situations without asking for anything in return.
She starts the first stanza by saying the following, hope is a thing with feathers . By this she
creates a metaphorical image of a bird to describe the image of hope without explicitly saying
so. The word feathers gives the reader the image of a bird, but it can also symbolize the feathers
as something that can help you fly or escape to something better. The next lines continue this
imagery by saying, (hope) that perches in the soul . These two lines create the image that hope
is not just a word, but something that lives in your soul. The word perches is a birdlike quality
and supports the image of hope as a bird. Another way to look at the word perch is that it could
be a metaphor for a home. A perch is where a bird rests and the soul could be seen as where hope
rests. The next two lines say, And... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have any effect on it. The second of the three lines also states that hope is a bird explicitly. The
final line also finishes the three lines by concluding that hope keeps people warm, it gives people
something they can look forward to. These lines can be seen to describe something or someone that

  • 4. Uae Society Culture UAE Society amp; Culture The United Arab Emirates is home to a rich cultural heritage that has been strongly influenced by its unique environment. The region s varied terrain, desert, oasis, mountains and coast, dictated the traditional lifestyles that evolved over the centuries. A resilience and resourcefulness necessary to survive in these harsh conditions was fostered by society s age old tribal structure: each family was traditionally bound by obligations of mutual assistance to his immediate relatives and to the tribe as a whole. Among the tribe an individual s selfless hospitality was the source of his honour and pride. A common religion, Islam, also provided the cement that held society together. The UAE s rich history is rooted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The UAE has undergone an extraordinary metamorphosis in the few short years since the state was established. Today Emiratis of all ages have access to all the benefits of a modern, developed society. But there is also an awareness that the history, culture, values and traditions of past generations are the foundations on which the modern state is built. Both government and people are determined that their heritage will be preserved, in line with the late Sheikh Zayed s belief that a people that knows not its past can have neither a present nor a future . Local museums and traditional heritage centres throughout the emirates help to introduce this heritage to younger generations and to visitors to the country. At the same time, the UAE, capitalising on its strategic geographical position between East and West and its open, tolerant perspective, is establishing a wide range of new museums and creative centres, many of which are universal in nature. In addition to encouraging creativity in the community, these new museums help to bridge cultures and advance dialogue between civilisations. The UAE s history stretches back tens of thousands of years, with cultural objects and art that start with tools from the Early Stone Age. Calligraphy is a traditional art, transforming Arabic words into works of art. Today, artists explore what the modern UAE means to them. Other aspects of the UAE s heritage and culture can be experienced in museums and heritage centres, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He seemed incredibly mean, the old director had a stern look on his face, I felt like he was staring right at me. After what seemed like forever, he finally said something. He started calling numbers. 12, 47, 34 and 88 he shouted in a deep booming voice. I knew what this meant, he was calling tag numbers so girls would come up and do the number we should have learned. It definitely was incredibly hard. I probably didn t have what it takes. The first group of girls had four of them. They all looked very similar, tall, thin with dark brown hair. Eskandari Political Science 101 SBCC 11/19/2014 11:10 12:30 Hemp for the True American Victory One of the first things about marijuana history that the American public still doesn t understand is that cannabis, was once very legal to grow in the United States. In fact, up until 1883 it was one of the largest agricultural crops in the world, including America.(The Union) But it wasn t grown for the psychoactive plant cannabis sativa. Cannabis hemp, which carries a fraction of the amount of THC, (the compound in marijuana that attributes to the high feeling) was and is used all over the world, producing the overall majority of Earth s fiber, fabric, paper, and medicines.(Herer,20) Hemp has a deep American History as well, from the gardens of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin to the 8,327 American hemp plantations counted in the 1850 census.(Herer,15) Yet the Federal government now recognizes cannabis as a Schedule I drug with no medical value, and 23 States have legalized cannabis for medicinal use. (The Union) Even though some western states such as Oregon and Colorado are making legal changes to marijuana policy at the state level, the most beneficial marijuana law we could pass is and always has been the Nationwide legalization of industrial Cannabis Hemp. Hemp was legal tender in most of the Americas from 1631 to the early 1800s, you could buy anything with hemp, even pay taxes. (Herer, 1) The first law passed on Marijuana in the ... • 7. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints The religious group Mormonism, better known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, has had their share of hardship and struggles. From this adversity the church and members have had a great impact on western civilization. Being a member myself, I can think of many different stories that have led me to believe that the early members of the church had a rough life. Anyone involved in the expansion westward who was willing to give up their safe lives in the east is a hero in my eyes. One great story that has stuck in my mind is the Mormon Battalion. The Mormon Battalion was a group of 543 men who enlisted for the sake of saving their religious freedom. The Mormons had recently been chased out of Illinois and were going to embark on their search for religious freedom and peace. Brigham Young the new president of the church asked President James K. Polk for assistance to travel to the west . President Polk didn t like the idea of granting them money to settle out of the United States territory. Luckily for the Mormons a man by the name of Thomas Kane came to their rescue. Thomas Kane had connections through his father to the president. He persuaded Polk to make the Mormon Battalion. He was easily persuaded because he feared that the Mormons would fight against them in the war. President Polk promised Young that if a battalion of 500 men were raised, he would offer them aid. To his dismay many of the Mormons felt as though this was a plot to disband the religion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Stop And Frisk Research Paper Stop and frisk has two components that define the stop element as well as the frisk element. The stop element is defined as when a law enforcement officer briefly detains an individual, and the officer has reasonable suspicion to believe a crime has occurred, is occurring, or is about to occur, and ask questions of the individual regarding a preliminary investigation and excludes the requirement of probable cause (Bethel, 2015). Furthermore, the frisk element may be conducted if the officer has reasonable suspicion the individual has a weapon, and is performed as a limited pat down search of the outer clothing on the individual detained by the officer (Bethel, 2015). If a weapon is discovered, the officer is authorized to conduct a more in depth investigation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same applications are among law enforcement agencies across the nation, however, every law enforcement agency shares the same mission to protect and to serve it s jurisdiction. In my humble opinion, the scope for stop and frisk is an essential part of law enforcement s goal of keeping their communities safe and protecting the citizens and it s properties. Where there s smoke, there s more than likely going to be a fire that started the smoke or a source of heat that initiated the smoke. The bureaucratic red tape has smothered a substantial amount of police tactics in the last several years and common sense allows us to notice a serious decrease in respect towards law enforcement as well as limited actions law enforcement can apply to situations because they appear too militarized or overkill. For example, it was due to stop and frisk that allowed an officer to stop and frisk a suspect named Wayne Williams in Atlanta, Georgia, after the officer heard a splash in a river nearby and observed Williams driving off a bridge that went over the waterway. The officer was able to initiate a stop and frisk, that led to the discovery of a murdered victim and identified the suspect because of this tactic (Marcou, 2010). This is only one of many incidents of how this tactic is critical for law enforcement to apply towards their overall goal of keeping citizen s and their communities ... • 9. The Gospel Of Wealth Research Paper Nastasha Garrison AP Humanities Mr.Faris Mrs.Carmody 13 February 2017 Money, Money, Money America is recognized as a place where if you work hard enough you can become wealthy. In fact, the U.S. has more millionaires than any other country in the world. However, for all that prosperity, the gap between rich and poor has always been large. People have been attempting to fix this inequality for over a century now. Andrew Carnegie, a Scottish immigrant who became the second richest man in America by dominating the steel industry, and Terence V. Powderly, an American attorney, labor union leader, politician, and best known as head of the Knights of Labor, were among the first to propose solutions. Carnegie s idea, called The Gospel of Wealth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The former thought that money should be in the hands of the wealthy, who were in his mind better equipped to handle it. Carnegie also argued against the wasteful use of capital in the form of extravagance or self indulgence, instead, promoting philanthropy. As a result, the wealthy would administer their riches beneficially and not in a way that encourages the slothful, the drunken, the unworthy (Carnegie). Meanwhile, Powderly argued that the masses should have the possibility of bettering their own lives. Through the common man s access to money, Powderly believed that they could achieve not only better living conditions, but a happier society in general, all while decreasing the ever growing gap between the rich and the poor (Powderly). While Carnegie s idea of the wealthy providing a better society for the underdog is appealing, Powderly s idea of a level playing field is more realistic and should be used in order to deal with the phenomenon of wealth ... • 10. Wetland Research Paper When most people think of wetlands the first thing that will pop into their mind will be visions of swamps and flooded plains. These marshy lands would seem to have no purpose, while in reality they are the most precious form of ecosystem that we have in America. Wetlands contribute to biodiversity, clean water, flood control, and provide a habitat for millions of species of plants and animals. Even with all this wetlands still face mass destruction, much like the rain forests they are just as productive and face similar rates of devastation (Mitchell, J. (1992, October). The unique environment of vernal pools provides habitat for numerous rare plants and animals that are able to survive these harsh conditions. Many of these plants and animals spend the dry season as seeds, eggs, or cysts, and then grow and reproduce when the ponds are flooded again. In addition, birds such as egrets, ducks, and hawks use vernal pools as a seasonal source of food and water (Marshall, 1978). br br Prairie potholes are a very beneficial wetland that is home to dozens of migratory waterfowl. They are found primarily in the Upper Midwest, especially North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. This formerly glaciated landscape is covered with a vast number of potholes, which fill with snowmelt and rain in the spring. Some prairie pothole marshes are temporary, while others may be virtually permanent. Here, as in other marshes, submerged and floating aquatic plants take over the deeper water; while bulrushes and cattails grow closer to shore, and wet marshes lie next to the upland. These wetlands are a sort of cousin to vernal pools, sharing the same location, and seasonal waters. (Marshall, 1978). br br Another infamous type of wetland is the bog. During the Industrial Revolution, company towns, communities built by businesses, developed up across the country. Although the concept may have appeared ideal a number of companies made more money from cheating their workers than from what they produced. During the boom in textile, coal, steel and other industries, workers often earned what s called scrip instead of real money: a kind of credit they couldn t spend anywhere but the company store, where prices were often higher than elsewhere. Organization development is about aiding individuals and organizations change successfully. These three key characteristics are important because they boost organizational effectiveness and well being through mediations in the organization s developments, by applying behavioral science knowledge. However, innovators of organizational development in the 1960s were still mostly pre occupied with interferences at either an individual or group level, primarily to enable incremental alterations, relatively than the whole system, large scale intercessions which describe the calculated change labors and ingenuities that are applied today. I remember walking into the classroom early in the morning and seeing plant pots lined up in the back of the room. Of course one of us asked, Mrs. Denny, what are those for? She answered like any experienced teacher We will get to those after lunch. Thank you for noticing though. As a young student, I was more interested about taking the plant home to my mom and showing her what I did. After lunch, we went on a walk to the atrium in the center of the school. Mrs. Denny pointed out the different kinds of plants that were in the atrium like flowers, and other small plants. We walked back to our classroom and talked about what a plant needs to grow and finally got to make a plant ourselves. We each had a cup of water, a cup of soil, a pot, and a plant. I also remember in third grade learning about the weather by creating a big picture of the water cycle with the clouds and why there is lightening and thunder. After we made the picture, we each got to write down a question about weather and Mrs. Heffernan went over each one. I loved science when I was little because I was able to explore and try new things. I struggled in math and reading because they were very black and white but science allowed creativity. The Multivisions of Multiculturalism Essay The Multivisions of Multiculturalism ABSTRACT: The questions suggested by the term multiculturalism range far and wide, embracing: questions of inclusion; questions of criteria; questions of self identity; and questions of the meaning of multiculturalism. In this essay I provide a framework: (i) that allows us to begin a discussion that might answer such questions; (ii) that illuminates why it is that such a modest aim is the most we can hope for at this time; and (iii) that provides an understanding of what we can do in a multicultural world in order to illuminate what we should do. This framework will prove to parallel a classic Hobbesianism, a universally undesirable result that will, paradoxically, provide further direction and reason for hope. 1. One immediate response by many in the USA to such questions is an appeal to the ideal of tolerance an ideal that Sir Isaiah Berlin, perhaps more than any thinker in our time, has defended. Berlin s central argument for toleration is that belief in the one true view has repeatedly led to disaster: One belief, more than any other, is responsible for the slaughter of individuals on the altars of the great historical ideals... This is the belief that somewhere, in the past or in the future, in divine revelation or the mind of the individual thinker, in the pronouncements of history or science, or in the simple heart of an uncorrupted good man, there is a final solution. (1) A second argument that Berlin offers for toleration is that we have no right to insist that all be educated in our way, unless we know that we are pure and good precisely what we do not and cannot know. As Tolstoy argued, the history of education is a history of tyranny, where each new school struck off one yoke only to put another in its place. Introduction Struggling with depression during adolescence stage constantly wondered me what clinical approach can treat depression. Rather than relying on medications, clinical therapies are more effective to cure a variety of mental disorders. Although there are numerous psychological and physiological treatments to cure depression, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy [CBT] will effectively treat depression as well as other mental health problems. Commonly used by most mental health experts, cognitive behavioral therapy is a short term, problem focused form of behavioral treatment that helps people see the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and subsequent behavior patterns and actions. (GoodTherapy.org) Thus, cognitive behavioral therapy is an adequate model practice for practitioners to treat not only depressed disorders but also other mental health disorders. History As stated in Psych Central and Beck Institute, with the long historical roots, CBT was established by Aaron T. Beck in the 1960s. (Beck Institute) After Sigmund Freud s experimental psychology and the influence of behaviorism, Behavior Therapy was first introduced to reduce problematic manifestations of behavior by using well defined and strictly validated scientific principle techniques which expanded to mind body psychotherapy (Psych Central) To be specific, in 1920s, operant conditioning, classical conditioning and social learning theory were utilized by numerous psychologist to ... If a hero shows they are brave they will be respected and everyone will look up to them as a role model. For example, people that are veterans, policemen, and firefighters show us the US citizens every day that they will fight in a war to save our country no matter what it takes. For a heroto show self sacrifice they put other people first in a life treating citation. For instance, a criminal comes into a store an older man immediately goes in front of a little girl by herself. Hero won t think he will just do it even if it puts his life in danger. Lastly, a hero is someone who is hard working. Say a person does not get the job they want, they never give up and stick to it and work hard. A hero may make some mistakes along the way but they remain brave show self sacrifice and work hard. A hero is someone who is very brave. For instance, a person who is brave enough to speak their mind about controversial issues is a hero. For example, Martin Luther King, Jr. stood up for all the colored people who did not have a voice. He was aware of the possible consequences of his actions, which included putting himself in danger; however, he still stood up for what he believed in. He was a hero because he bravely sacrificed himself to help others have equal rights in America. When a person does good things for someone else in need they are showing they like to help others. When people help others in need that makes them a good person and you never know who what will happen if you help that person. In the end, a hero is a role model to people all over the world who want to be like him. An excellent example of a hero is Pfc. Tristan Segers. In the article Soldier home After losing his leg in Afghanistan Tristan Segers keeps going with his life not feeling bad about his leg. I just told all the doctors that I didn t want my life to be different than it was before (Fiege 68). Even though Tristan was knocked down, he got right back up and stayed strong. • 40. Livestock Grazing Can Affect The Watershed Properties By... Livestock grazing can affect the watershed properties by altering plant cover and by compaction of the livestock s hooves. Reductions in the vegetation cover may: increase the impact of raindrops, decrease soil organic matter and soil aggregates, increase surface soil crusts, and decrease water infiltration rates [2]. These effects can cause an increase in runoff, a reduction in soil water content, and increased erosion. The impacts of grazing can vary naturally, but it mainly depends on the area and time, due to climate, vegetation, intensity and duration of livestock. There are few studies that have attempted to justify the natural variations. Documentation of the power and duration of grazing has been poorly or completely disregarded [2]. Water is one of the most important products derived from rangelands and forests. The forests and watersheds should be viewed as watersheds and secondarily for their food, forage, wood, wildlife, and social. Watersheds are very diverse in their natural erosion, high flooding rate behavior, and high amounts of sediments. In some areas, plant cover and soil layers have not developed appropriately to make an influence on how water is generated from the land. For more extensive areas, plant cover and soil mantle have developed to exert a high degree of control on the reception and disposition of precipitation. Low rates of erosion, normally moderate peak stream discharges, normally small sediment loads, and optimum infiltration are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She tells the readers that hope is small and fragile, but it can survive the worst of situations without asking for anything in return. She starts the first stanza by saying the following, hope is a thing with feathers . By this she creates a metaphorical image of a bird to describe the image of hope without explicitly saying so. The word feathers gives the reader the image of a bird, but it can also symbolize the feathers as something that can help you fly or escape to something better. The next lines continue this imagery by saying, (hope) that perches in the soul . These two lines create the image that hope is not just a word, but something that lives in your soul. The word perches is a birdlike quality and supports the image of hope as a bird. Another way to look at the word perch is that it could be a metaphor for a home. A perch is where a bird rests and the soul could be seen as where hope rests. The next two lines say, And... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
