4. WHAT IS THE STUDY
ALL ABOUT
The study is about the problem faced
by students when the learning system
has shifted to “self-paced” through
learning module.
5. THE PROBLEM
The amount of workloads imposed
during self-paced learning has
surpassed, if not doubled, the amount of
workloads during regular face-to-face
Learning quality was compromised by
students, putting more time on doing
and complying schoolworks than
reading and absorbing lessons in the
module.
6. MY CLAIM
“ Overloaded workloads (schoolworks)
can actually limit a person’s capacity to
learn.”
“ Students are driven to perform the tasks
just for the ‘sake of compliance’, rather
than driven with the ‘spirit to learn’.
7. OTHER AUTHOR’S
CLAIM
“Students who are bombarded with
overloaded school activities report a
lack of balance in their lives, feeling like
they need to choose completing their
homework over engaging in social,
physical, and restorative activities that
will support their well-being.”
-( Marianne Stenger, writer and journalist).
8. OTHER AUTHOR’S
CLAIM
“Self-paced learning can improve
memory performance and abilities”.
( Tullis and Benjamin, 2011)
“Students need to realize that homeworks
are meaningful and not just merely some
sort of “busy works”... it can help them
succeed academically and intellectually.
(Wilson, Jan & Rhodes, 2010)
9. THE GAP
Conflicting ideas of the study
1. Doing more means learning more
2. Doing more ends up learning less.
Common studies:
Excessive Homeworks ---->
physchological, behavioral, social,
emotional effects.
(?) Workload -----> Learning quality
10. OBJECTIVES OF THE
STUDY
To find/answer the following:
1. What is the student’s profile in terms of:
- age - field of specialization
-gender - economic status
-technological access and availability
2. What are the students’ perception
about the workloads they are receiving?
11. OBJECTIVES OF THE
STUDY
3. What are the student’s learning performance during
self-paced learning?
4. What are the student’s learning quality during self-
paced learning?
5. What is the effect of workloads on learning quality?
6. Is there a relationship between learning performance
and learning quality during self-paced learning?

17. DATA ANALYSIS
1. Percentage - determine the frequency counts and
percentage distribution of personal related variables of
the respondents
2. Tabulation - helps to arrange the data in rows and
columns
3. Regression Test - look for cause and effect
relationships
- used to estimate the effect of one
variable to another
4. Correlation Test - determine the statistical
relationship between two variables.
