Independent
Working Title Films is a British film production company, which
is based in London although there is others located in Los
Angeles and Ireland, and owned by Universal Studios. The
company was founded by Tim Bevan and Sarah Radclyffe in
1983. It produces feature films and many television
productions. Eric Fellner and Bevan are now the co-chairs of
the company. They had a partnership with a company named
Polygram Films but universal studios bought it out in 1999.
For many years Working Title was an independent company
and this means they have control over anything that goes on
inside there company but then they partnered with universal
which means both company’s share what goes on.
Movies
They helped out with a ton of big feature films such as most
recently, Everest, Les Miserables and more going back to
years ago such as, Johnny English and Shaun of the Dead
and Jurassic park 3 in the 2000s and even more in the 90s,
for example, The Borrowers and Drop dead Fred.
Collaborations
In the 2012 movie Contraband, which was also produced by
the working title company but they also worked with other
companys on this movie such as Relativity Media and
Blueeyes productions. The film was distributed by working
titles owners, Universal Pictures. They would work with these
companys to help with funding and advertising. It also makes
it easier to make the film if you have several companys
involved. If they have an American and British film company
involved then that makes it easier to have viewer’s interest
from both countries.
Investment
This comes from businesses that don’t make a profit. They give
the company money to make a movie and the BFI is one company
that invests money not to make a profit but to make a movie.
Corporate involvement
BBC or other film companys invest to make profit. BBC mainly
for the lottery, but it can also come from companys who want
to invest and make a profit. It could also come from rich
people who want to invest a little to make more.
