Start at your usual time, finish at your
usual time – and take a lunch hour! If
you've got a home office, step away,
shut the door and don't be tempted to
sneak back in. If you don't, put your
laptop in a drawer – out of sight, out of
mind!
10. 55-minute sprints – take
breaks and move!
A physical break to get your body moving can reduce
the negative effects of sitting for long periods of time at
a desk or laptop. Short, regular breaks also help
prevent ‘decision-fatigue’ basically meaning you are
better and quicker at making decisions when you have
taken a break from your work – you're more productive.
• Put on some happy music and do a funny dance – think Phoebe
running style (Friends fans will know what we mean!).
• Open a door or window and take some deep breaths. Pick a
flower, water your bonsai or talk to it – whichever you prefer .
• Make a cup of tea/coffee! Sit back for 5 and enjoy it!
• Grab a snack. Blueberries and nuts could help increase your
