working hours
Start at your usual time, finish at your
usual time – and take a lunch hour! If
you've got a home office, step away,
shut the door and don't be tempted to
sneak back in. If you don't, put your
laptop in a drawer – out of sight, out of
mind!

10. 55-minute sprints – take
breaks and move!
A physical break to get your body moving can reduce
the negative effects of sitting for long periods of time at
a desk or laptop. Short, regular breaks also help
prevent ‘decision-fatigue’ basically meaning you are
better and quicker at making decisions when you have
taken a break from your work – you're more productive.
• Put on some happy music and do a funny dance – think Phoebe
running style (Friends fans will know what we mean!).
• Open a door or window and take some deep breaths. Pick a
flower, water your bonsai or talk to it – whichever you prefer .
• Make a cup of tea/coffee! Sit back for 5 and enjoy it!
• Grab a snack. Blueberries and nuts could help increase your
focus! Dark chocolate too. 
• Top up a water bottle. Add ice and/or some slices of fruit.
• 5 minutes of mindfulness – try Headspace!

Make Eye Contact
Look at the webcam not your screen. This
will create the impression that you are
engaged and paying close attention which
will build greater rapport.
Start the Call Early
Jump on early and turn videoon before other
participants arrive so you can see what you,
and your background, look like.
Avoid Backlighting
Lights behind you turn you intoa dark
silhouette. Unless you want to come across like
Darth Vader, make sure there are nowindows
or lamps directly behind you.
Mirror Your Buyer
This is something you can't do without your
webcam on. Mirroring some of their subtle
actions is proven to build a stronger bond.
Check Your Connection
Video generally puts a greater strain on
Internet connectivity. If you have a weak
Internet connection, the call will be "laggy"
and generally a poor experience.

Clear your background. Make sure there's
nothing embarrassing or distracting that
will appear in the video.
Set Expectationsfor Video
In the calendar invite for the meeting, include a note that thiswill be a videocall so your customer is
prepared. This allows them to follow some of these same tips on their side and increasesthe chancesthey
will alsoturn their webcam on. The last thing you want is to have your video on, while there's is off.

Bring your Webcam to eye-level. You want
to make the conversation feel asnatural as
possible, not leave them wondering why
you placed your webcam so high or low.

both working from home and in the office.
• If required/preferred to enhance
productivity or client interaction, slave

to the value of £100/$125. Model to be
selected by the business.
• General office supplies - bullet journals,
stationery, printer cartridges/paper
as required etc.

On successful completion of your
probationary period, a budget of up to
£500 (plus VAT)/$750 for the provision
of creating a comfortable workspace
(desk, chair, plants etc) will be made
available to you. As these items will be
purchased to match the specific
requirements of your home/décor,
should, for whatever reason, you leave
the employment of Global Magic Futures,
these will be retained by you.
To utilise this budget, please provide a
link to the required furniture so that the
business can purchase on your behalf
and arrange delivery directly to your
home.

20. Notes
Whilst the business has no legal
obligation to provide home office
equipment such as desks and chairs,
we do take the welfare of our employees
very seriously. The business will take
appropriate measures to ensure that
choices made comply with British Health
& Safety Standards or OSHA in the US.
Ongoing work from home support
In conjunction with the rules and
regulations stipulated by the
government, you are able to apply for
tax relief in the UK of up to £6 per week
