2. Objective
Design of 5th Order Parallel Coupled
Microstrip Band pass filter
• To Design a 5th Order Parallel Coupled Microtrip
Bandpass Filter Which operates at the centre frequency of
4 GHz whose FBW%=12.5 % Having Passband Ripple 0.2dB
•To Gain Hands on experience of Designing & Simulation of
microstrip Bandpass Filter Followed by its Fabrication &
Testing.
3. Bandpass Filter Design specification:
• Centre Frequency : 4 GHz
• 3dB Bandwidth : 0.5 GHz
• Impedance : 50Ω
• Order of the Filter (n) : 5
• Fractional BW% : 12.5%
• Passband Ripple : 0.2dB
• Substrate : Rogers RT/Duroid 5880
• Dielectric constant(εr ) : 2.2
• tangential loss (tan δ) : 0.0004
• Substrate’s Thickness : 10 mil
4. The Normalized 5th Order Tchebyshev Low-pass
Prototype Filter’s Element Values
• n
• g values at (0.2dB rip
n g values at (0.2dB ripple)

Further, Low-pass Prototype Filter is Impedance Scaled &
Frequency Transformed As Per Required Design Specification
11. The next step of the filter Design is to find out physical Dimensions of
Coupled Lines Resonators that are based on even –odd and characterstic
impedances . Which is calculated using ADS Software tool – Linecal
12. Width, Spacing, Length of Coupled line as per Even and Odd
mode impedances calculated using ADS tool :- Linecal
