Working with Tables
TABLE
• A table is made up of horizontal rows and vertical columns. The intersection of a
column and row is a cell.
INSERTING A TABLE
• Click where to insert the table
• Click Insert tab  Table
• Drag to select the number of rows and columns
• Another way is to click Insert Table
• Enter the number of rows and columns needed

MOVING IN A TABLE
• Tab Key or Mouse cursor can be used to move from one cell to another cell in a
table.
ENTERING TEXT IN A TABLE
• Place the cursor in the cell and begin typing
SELECTING IN A TABLE
• Either rows or columns can be selected by dragging the cursor or by the select
option in the Layout tab
SELECTING IN A TABLE
• Entire table can be selected by clicking the place holder at the top left corner of the
table
FORMATTING THE TABLE
• Click Design Tab
• Select Table design and select any table style
ALIGNING TEXT IN A TABLE
• Click Layout Tab  Alignment Tab
• Select cell alignment or short cut keys can be used
MODIFYING THE TABLE
• Click Design Tab and Select Layout and rows can be inserted above or below /
columns can be added left or right
DELETING ROWS AND COLUMNS
• Select the row / column to be deleted
• Click Design Tab and Select Layout and delete options
RESIZING A TABLE
• Select the table. Place the cursor in the bottom right
• Drag the cursor to resize the table
MERGING CELLS
• Select the cells to be merged
• Click Design Tab and Select Layout  Merge cells
SPLITTING CELLS
• Select the cells to be splitted. Click Design Tab and Select Layout  split cells and
enter the number of columns and rows
INSERT PICTURE/CLIPART/SHAPES
• Click inside the cell where the picture / clip art / shape to be added.
• Click Insert Tab and Select Picture / clip art / shapes and select the image
