In this activity, you will watch a video clip of a speech. You will apply effective methods of critiquing a speech to prepare written feedback that you would provide to the person who delivered the speech. You will also evaluate your feedback in terms of how the person receiving it could best respond to it to improve his or her next speech.

: Enter the title of the speech you selected in the Speech Title row at the top of the table.

: Watch the speech, pausing as necessary, and enter any initial thoughts that may be useful in writing your critique of the speech.

: Review the information in Module 2 that covers strategies for giving effective feedback. The recommendations given in the lesson include the following:

Make your comments in an organized fashion.

- 1. Word Q Practice Activity Directions: Complete the following activity. Use the tutorial as a reference for help. 1. Type the following sentence and use the prediction box to choose words. Try choosing the words by highlighting the words, typing the number, and using the arrow keys. Notice which words give example sentences. I am learning how to use Word Q to help my students increase their independence, confidence, and productivity during writing. 2. Type the following sentence. When you come to an italicized word, type the base word and backspace to find the word with the correct ending. Listen to the voice feedback after you enter punctuation. This feature allows students to practice spelling words correctly by adding endings to base words. 3. Type the following sentence. When you come to an italicized word, choose the incorrect word from the prediction box and press Esc to delete the word. Then choose the correct word. Listen to the voice feedback after you enter punctuation. This feature allows students delete incorrect words. 4. Highlight a sentence and use the read button on the button bar to hear voice feedback. 5. Use the arrow keys to scroll through the text. Watch the prediction box disappear and reappear. 6. Use the words button on the button bar to make the prediction box disappear and reappear. 7. Move the Button bar by grabbing it and moving the cursor. 8. Type additional sentences and continue to practice with features of Word Q.
