 The Gateway of India is a monument built during the British Rule in MumbaiCity
of Maharashtra state in Western India .It is located on the waterfront in the Apollo
Bunder area in South Mumbai and overlooks the ArabianSea.]The structure is
a basalt arch, 26 metres (85 feet) high. It lies at the end ofChhatrapati Shivaji Marg at
the water's edge in Mumbai Harbour.[5] It was a crude jetty used by the fishing
community which was later renovated and used as a landing place for British
governors and other prominent people. In earlier times, it would have been the first
structure that visitors arriving by boat in Mumbai would have seen. The Gateway has
also been referred to as theTaj Mahal of Mumbai,] and is the city's top tourist
attraction

6. HISTORY OF RED FORT
 The Red Fort was the residence of the Mughal emperor of India for nearly 200 years,
until 1857. It is located in the centre of Delhi and houses a number of museums. In
addition to accommodating the emperors and their households, it was the ceremonial
and political centre of Mughal government and the setting for events critically
impacting the region.[1]
 Constructed in 1648 by the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as the palace of his
fortified capital Shahjahanabad,[2] the Red Fort is named for its massive enclosing walls
of red sandstone and is adjacent to the olderSalimgarh Fort, built by Islam Shah Suri in
1546.

9. HISTORY OF INDIA GATE
 The India Gate, (originally called the All India War Memorial), is a war memorial located
astride the Rajpath, on the eastern edge of the ‘ceremonial axis’ of New Delhi, formerly
called Kingsway. India gate is a memorial to 82,000 soldiers of the undivided British
Indian Army who died in the period 1914–21 in the First World War, in
France, Flanders,Mesopotamia, Persia, East Africa, Gallipoli and elsewhere in the Near
and the Far East, and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. 13,300 servicemen's names,
including some soldiers and officers from the United Kingdom, are inscribed on the
gate.[1][2] The India Gate, even though a war memorial, evokes the architectural style of
the triumphal arch like theArch of Constantine, outside the Colosseum in Rome, and is
often compared to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens.[1]
