When girls and women are violated on the streets, in buses and in isolated mills, we feel naturally outraged. Yet, when they get abused, raped and victimized in the safety of their own homes, we remain unnaturally silent. Domestic Violence accounts for 50% of all reported crimes against women in India. One in every three women is sexually, psychologically and physically violated by her male partner. Many of these women are young brides, less than 18 years old who suffer in silence grappling with what society believes should be a private and guarded matter. Dasra's upcoming report, "No Private Matter" aims to bring the issue of Domestic violence out in the open to help women get their right to a happy and healthy life

Gender equality is a Human right.MAINSTREAMING GENDER EQUALITY-A PERPETUAL STRUGGLE
“A woman is human.
She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more responsible than a man.
Likewise, she is never less.
Equality is given.
A woman is human.”

Silicon Valley’s morality crash
For at least ten years, pundits have been saying tech startups are overvalued and poised for an economic crash. It never happened. Blame low interest rates and an influx of foreign capital. Instead, arrogance, bro-culture, and bad behavior was rewarded with unprecedented amounts of capital and almost no oversight. The result has been Silicon Valley’s first morality crash. It’s not an economic reckoning: The bad behavior of companies like Uber and venture firms like Binary Capital is causing the implosion of once untouchable figures in Silicon Valley.
Here’s what happens next and how to make sure you aren’t collateral damage.
This presentation was part of Embody's Safe Healthy Strong 2015 conference on sexuality education (www.ppwi.org/safehealthystrong). Embody is Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin's education and training programs. Learn more: www.ppwi.org/embody
DESCRIPTION
The issue of consent is often not addressed enough when providing sexuality education, even though it is a critical part of healthy sexual development and relationships. This workshop will explore why it’s important to address consent as part of comprehensive sexuality education. This will include developing a shared language to talk about consent in various situations. Participants will have the opportunity to practice talking about the topic of consent in sex-positive ways that include taking pleasure and various common scenarios into account. Participants will also gain knowledge and tools to make their own lessons, curricula, and workshops with clients more sex-positive.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Read| The latest issue of The Challenger is here! We are thrilled to announce that our school paper has qualified for the NATIONAL SCHOOLS PRESS CONFERENCE (NSPC) 2024. Thank you for your unwavering support and trust. Dive into the stories that made us stand out!
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. Women are at risk of violence both
in public and private spheres, in and around
the home, in neighbourhoods. Women
think twice before stepping out of their
homes, especially at the night. This is,
unfortunately, the sad reality of our
country that lives in constant fear.
2
3. Women’s safety involves strategies, practices
and policies which aim to reduce gender-based violence
(or violence against women), including women’s fear of
crime.
• Women’s safety involves safe spaces.
• Women’s safety involves financial security and
autonomy
• Women’s safety involves self-worth.
• Women’s safety means a safer, healthier community
for everyone.
3
10. If you happen to be harassed, will you file a
complaint against the perpetrator or not? If not why?
• “I will not because when I think practically no one out there will help me except
myself and my parent. Considering me and my family’s future. I can’t complain”. (60%
people agree with this kind of answer)
• “I'd surely file a complaint against the perpetrators because I think they totally
deserve to be punished and women should be bold enough to stand against them.”
(40% people agree with this kind of answer)
10
11. No one talks about men's safety, but we always speak
about women's safety. Why? Explain your view to this
point.
Some of the comments we got are
• There are more men harasser than women.
• Because women's safety is prioritized due to the increase in violence towards them
which clouds the fact that men faces harassment too and even if men steps forward to
confess about their traumatic events happened , society criticizes instead of believing
them ,as it is firmly stereotyped that men are the predator
11
12. What are the factors that lead to increase in human
trafficking, especially when it comes to females?
Few factors like
• organ demand in foreign countries
• poverty among orphans
• demand for cheap labour
• the urge to fullfill their sexual pleasure.
Are the reason that leads to increased human trafficking, especially when it comes to
women.
12
13. People who thinks raising a women is burden, tend
to practice female infanticide, what is your view on
this issue.
• If financial status is a problem then abortion of both male and female children can be practised, but
targeting more on female is a total nonsense. For raising a child either a boy or a girl take the
same amount of money to invest on.
• Nowadays women's are the one who backup the whole family than men
• Girls are often considered a financial burden. Educating them is not deemed necessary and their
opinions don’t matter. This is one of the major reasons for preferring a son over a daughter. We
need to change such narrow mindsets of people. This will help in empowering females.
• Insecure people who are not brave enough to raise a child should prefer to be anti-natalist rather
than killing their infants so ease
13
14. How parents see eve-teasing ?
• In general Eve teasing is an act of slut shaming and stalking. Parents who are aware of this
stuffs will defend the girls , and the parents who are into the patriarchy and male dominance
will slut shame the girls by labelling it as taboo, as a matter of fact slut shaming doesn't looks
taboo to the elders.
• Some consider eve teasing is not about men ,but it is about girl child. If eve teasing happens to
any of their daughter they will immediately stop her from wearing fancy clothes, stop her from
going out and all, but no one will say the fact that eve teasing is because of men.
14
15. Do you prefer to be a MAN or WOMAN? Why?
Few comments we received are:
• “I prefer to be a man because men can wander everywhere even in night time and they got
freedom to study or do stuffs on their own and there is no pressure to get married at an early age
after completing the college.”
• “We women just need freedom to live in this society. It doesn't matter whether we are man or
women both have their own potentials.”
• “HUMAN. There will be always victims in both the genders , perverts in both, misusing the
freedom in both , abusers in both , predators in both.”
15
16. What is your take on women harassment at
workplace?
• A few of the people said that even though they haven’t been to
any workplace, from the kind of incidents they heard of from the
people close to them, such kind of harassments ended up in the
victim blaming and the management wasn’t supportive to the
victim in most of the cases.
• Another one said that harassment happens not only at the
workplace, but also at every possible place where women could
be harassed.
• A solution to such kind of problems could be the initiative of a
movement like #metoo. The drawback of #metoo was that the
identity of the victim was exposed which led to the affected job
security of the victim.
16
17. What do you think about creating curfew for
women?
• One of the responses was that we should rather be working
on creating a safer environment for women rather than
increasing and decreasing curfew which is protecting women.
• In case of hostels, the hostel rules are stricter for girls than
boys. This is not considered to be fair because both have
equal rights that of to enjoy their freedom. Being in a
democratic country, having unequal rights to freedom for
men and women is totally unfair.
17
18. “Dressing sense of women is one of the major
causes for why they are being sexually assaulted”-
What is your thoughts on this?
• People think that this is totally a bad perspective because a
women’s dressing sense has no relevance with them being
raped.
• They are like inversely proportional and no one tells a man how
to dress.
• It is always WOMEN who is pushed into the hole and I still don’t
understand why women are being judged based on their
dressing sense and this is something that has to be changed.
18
19. What do you think about parents being overprotective of their
girl children make the world a better place for women?
• Everyone of them said that they don’t think so. In fact, such kind of
impositions are done usually by the mothers in most of the
household.
• They don’t mind if their sons come late to home after a party but it
would lead to a problem if their daughters come late to their home.
• This cycle of showing differentiation to their children itself is a bigger
problem.
19
20. What is feminism according to you?
• Its making equal rights for both men and women in the society.
Only fake feminists say that women would also want to drink,
party hard and do all the stuff that men do.
• Sometimes, women make use of such kind of freedom as a
leverage and try bullying people by accusing them of eve-
teasing or harassment which is totally unfair.
• People who are under such situations have to really be careful
of what they do. For they being victimized has some amount of
trust by the people that they wouldn’t misuse them for their
own personal vengeance.
20
21. “Women will only have
true equality when men
share with them the
responsibility of bringing
up the next generation.”
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
