BARRIERS OF WOMEN’S
EDUCATION
1. Poverty , unemployment , large family size
poor economic condition of parents
2. Lack of qualified women teacher
3. Fear of sexual harassment in school
4. Lack of hostel facilities
5. Lack of transport facilities
6. Inadequate school facilities
7. Social ills such as child marriage , dowry
system , male dominated social set-up etc.
8. Lack of women friendly curriculum
9. Lack of proper social attitudes in rural area
MEASURES FOR PROMOTION OF
WOMEN’S EDUCATION
Establish separate schools for girls at the
middle and high school stages
Appoint adequate number of women
teachers
Increase the hostel facilities for girls and
made it available in and around the
institution
Ensure reservation of not less than 33% for
girls in all institutions
Provide free books, uniforms, study
materials, mid-day meals etc.
Give attendance scholarships to the parents
of deserving girls as a compensatory
package.
Ensure basic facilities
Make curriculum relevant to the lives of
poor women who are engaged in battle
for survival
