EMPOWERMENT
There are so many women , who are silently
baring the harassment of their life partners
because of the lack education, lack of legal
awareness and lack of empowerment in
women. When women are empowered, all
the society benefits.

4. POINTS TO BE KNOWN
Year ‘2001’ was declared as the ‘women
empowerment year’.
Article 15 of Indian constitution –
special provisions for women.
Article 16 – equal opportunities for all
the citizens in public employment
irrespective of caste ,gender, religion .
Article 39 – the citizen ,men and women
equally have the right to an adequate
means of livelihood.

5. JUDICIARY
Section 14 of the Hindu Succession act 1956 –
Property of a female Hindu to be her absolute
property.
Hindu Succession [Amendment] Act 2005 – women
get equal share in the ancestral property.

6. SUPPORT TO TRAINING EMPLOYMENT FOR
WOMEN [STEW]
To increase the self –
reliance and
autonomy of women
by enhancing their
productivity and
enabling them to take
up income generation
activity.

7. SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN [SSA]
For girl child education .
It lead to increase in
the gender parity
index. [GPI] The
national literacy
mission –Literacy of
women . Literacy is
the critical instrument
of women
empowerment .

8. NATIONAL RURAL HEALTH MISSION
AND SELF HELP GROUP [SHG]
Educating women on health care. It has result
in the decline in fertility rates, Maternal
Mortality Rates [MMR], Infant Mortality
Rates [IMR].
[SHG] –For economic development in women
by giving micro finances.

9. GENDER BUDGETING [GB] AND NATIONAL
MISSION FOR EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN
[NMEW]
[GB] –Identifying the felt needs of women and re-
prioritising and increasing expenditure to meet
these needs.
[NMEW] – To ensure economic and social
empowerment of women.

10. HOW CAN WE TAKE PART
First of all ,the women must have the will to be
independent and to be the best of herself ,
then rest of everything follows.
Educating women makes them independent .
Skill development programs.
Forming groups. Unity gives strength to
everyone.
And many more little things which makes
significant difference and leads to the great
future.

station as a member of
expedition 14 and
expedition 15. In 2012,
She served as a flight
engineer on expedition
32 and then
commander of
expedition 33.

13. INDIRA GANDHI
Indira Gandhi was the third
Prime Minister of India
and a central figure of the
Indian National Congress
Party. Gandhi who served
from 1966 to 1977 and
then again from 1980 until
her assassination in 1984,
is the second – longest –
serving Prime Minister of
India and the only woman
to hold the officer.
