1. Wolf
When you think of Russia, the first animal that probably comes to mind is bear, the legendary
monster from Taiga. However, the Russian forests are home to another creature which is
much easier to spot: the wolf.
In Russia, wolves are called "volk". The wolf is an animal, who is active all day. At night they
are always howling. The animal appears grayish with most of its body covered with fur. In
winter they have more problems to find food.
This animal is also known as “forest medic”, because it can eat meat of dead animals and so it
supports other animals healthy. It famous for its role in tales and cartoons as “Nu, pogodi!” or
“Zhil- bil pes”. In Russia, wolf is associated with loyalty and courage, because they always help
their relatives and keep them out of danger.
