The group encountered some issues with recording quality and script length for their radio advertisement. They had to rerecord parts of the script to improve understandability and trimmed the script length. They also changed their background music from an ocean theme to include both beach sounds and a background track. Individually, the students felt they worked well together and were able to discuss and address problems as a group.
2. We came across a few problems, Ryans woman voice was a bit
“breaky” at times and wasn’t understandable. We had to re-
record his part a few times to make sure you can hear his
voice accurately. We also had the issue of our original script
being over 30 seconds in duration, we detatched from the
original plan by cutting out lines and changing words around.
We also didn’t intend on having a music bed, but rather an
oceanic theme, however, a bedding track worked better so we
mixed the 2 ideas and have an intro of beach and waves, and
later we have a nice theme bed.
3. Individually, I felt that I worked pretty well, I concentrated on
the work and when a problem occurred I discussed it with my
partner. We sometimes needed to discuss with other groups
for voice acting and for this we managed to work really well.
We did accidentally get some recordings wrong and we
managed to re-record these and fix some of the issues that
arose.
4. We used a variety of techniques to make our target
audience remember the “wave surf shop” things
such as the repetition of the name and mentions of
what the shop sells, and appealing to the surfer
“group”
5. We used a simple audio editing programme
called Audacity to edit our audio, it had a
simplistic UI and was easy to use, we also
used a voice recorder, which was only a
matter of pressing a few buttons. In learning
new skills I already had an understanding of
Audacity and voice recorders are simple to
use, so not particularly.
6. We used a variety of conventions such as
using a bedding track, we also had a clear
voice recording making the entire sound
easier to understand. At the beginning of the
advert we had a beach track to give the idea
you immediately knew you were at the beach.
7. In the advert I represent one of the surfers
who needs a new wet suit, and I portray this
with help of Ryan who played the woman and
my character had lost his wet suit and needed
a new one. Ryan’s character helps portray my
need for a new wet suit.
8. On our first finished edit, we were told to add
a bedding track because the beach track
confused the entire advert. So this was one of
our first changes it was the point we realised
our advert had no “base” to it, it was dull. So
we added a light, happy bedding track. We
were also told to re-record Ryans speech as
first time round it was distorted. This gave us
a much smoother and nicer second edit
overall.
