Technology can be the great equalizer in a classroom with diverse learners. Whereas teachers can find it difficult to differentiate instruction for 30+ students in one class, all with different needs and abilities, “assistive technology” (devices and software to assist students with disabilities) can often help teachers personalize lessons and skills enhancement to each child. Children with learning disabilities often have better technology skills than their teachers and are drawn to computers and other gadgets, so using them in the classroom makes perfect sense. For children with physical disabilities, technology can give access to learning opportunities previously closed to them. E-readers help students turn book pages without applying dexterity, and voice adaptive software can help students answer questions without needing to write. Computers are engaging and more advanced than the typical modified lesson allows. The widely-used teacher education textbook Educating Exceptional Children has a special section in each chapter focused on assistive technology explaining how it is used with exceptionalities ranging from giftedness to autism.

I. Introduction
The COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the globe is likely to cause the most serious disruption to educational opportunity in at least a century. The studies and
lives of those currently in school will be impacted in multiple ways. For educators, it is a quintessential adaptive and transformative challenge. Education leaders must
swiftly design responses – and with specific contexts in mind – as the pandemic runs its course. While governments and health officials are doing their best slowing down
the outbreak, global education systems are collaborating to collectively respond and provide quality education for all during these difficult times. Our job is to help
everyone in providing quality education for all even in these exceptional times.
School systems and governments will attempt to establish alternative modalities of education during the period of necessary social distancing, but those will most
likely work well for children whose parents have more education, who have other social advantages, and who have access to resources, including online connectivity and
devices, so they can continue to enjoy structured opportunities to learn. For many children lacking those conditions, the period of physical distancing is likely to result in
very limited opportunities to learn.
In the Senior High School, most subjects require face to face learning modality. For example, specialized subjects especially in TVL courses require skills that
can be best taught with a maximum supervision of the teacher. Work Immersion, on the other hand requires hands on experience, simulation and skills enhancement.
While limitations for learners and schools are recognized, adjustment shall be made by the organization to adopt the current situation without sacrificing its deliverables.
Work immersion is a key feature in the senior high school curriculum. It can be conducted in different ways depending on the purposes and needs of the learners, (SHS
Work Immersion Curriculum Guide). Work immersion will help develop among learners’ life and career skills, and will prepare them to make decisions on postsecondary
education or employment.
In previous school years, Alabat Island National High School has established partnerships with the different industries not only in Alabat municipality but also
outside the Island like Lucban, Lucena, Gumaca and Calauag. Through partnership building, the students provided with work immersion opportunities, workplace or
hands-on experience, and additional learning resources. In the Senior High

School, the implementation of Work Immersion, which requires hands on experience, simulation and skills enhancement, a shift in strategy shall be made. While
limitations for learners and schools are recognized, the following strategies are expected to attain the objective of work immersion program.
However, we already know that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has caused massive disruption in the education sector. Adjustment shall be made by the
organization to adopt the current situation without sacrificing its deliverables. With the current global pandemic, the Department of Education issued Guidelines for Work
Immersion Implementation during Crisis Situation. Alabat Island National High School adheres to this guidelines to ensure the safety of the students and the teachers. For
the SY 2021-2022, the senior high school department modified its work immersion action plans to suit the “new normal” in education.
II. General Objectives
The implementation of Work Immersion program, the grade 12 learners of Alabat Island National High School will be able to:
