2. The higher you ascend the corporate ladder,
the more you need to use the winning
speeches.
The US president, Obama, displayed his
exceptional ability to drive points by his
mesmerizing keynote.
3. Give them hope. This can be done if you
yourself believe and remain hopeful. When
the going gets tough, people are facing
uncertainty, not sure of the future, you have
to come strong and provide the reason why
optimism is the right course. Despite the
problem US is facing, both locally and on
international fronts, Obama brought the
message of hope.
4. People want winners and not a loser. A act
with confident whatever the challenges you
are facing. Put yourself as positive and
healthy.
Obama delivered a speech full of optimism
that rally his supporters behind him. This was
what he said.. "we know the battle ahead will
be long. but always remember, no matter
what obstacles stand in the way, nothing can
stand on the way of millions of voices calling
for change.."
5. Help your audience to create the mental
pictures through your selected words
Use the five senses of virtual, auditory,
kinesthetic, smell and taste images.
Example: In 2004, Obama painted a picture
of the hope, when he said..." it is the hope of
slaves sitting around a fire singing freedom
song, the hope of a young naval lieutenant
bravely patrolling the Mekong Delta...”
6. Use metaphor to create a memory on your
important points.
The metaphor will strengthen your drive, and
give a new meaning to your words. The like
of the cold war, when Churchill created the
term “ the iron curtain" to describe the
Russian. When the communist took over
China, the term “bamboo curtain” was
created.
7. When Armstrong landed on the moon in
1969, he said,.. "one small step for man, one
giant step for mankind". The method was
used by Obama when he said.. "tomorrow you
will be able to choose a policy that invest in
middle class and create jobs that this
economy will grow so that everybody has a
chance to succeed. Not just CEO, but
secretary and the janitor...".
8. Anaphora is the use of repetition of the same
word or phases at the beginning of the
sentences. The best example that is widely
acknowledged was the speech made by Dr
Martin Luther King..."I have a dream..". It has
the effect to reinforce the idea over and over
again.
9. It is the opposite of anaphora, when words or
phases are being repeated at the end of the
sentences. Obama use it in his speech when
he said..."it was whispered by the slaves as
they blazed through the darkness of the
night,... yes we can. It was sung by
immigrants as they pushed against
unforgiving wildness,... yes we can.
10. The hallmark of great leaders are their ability
to move the emotion of the people.
They do it through their speech, powerful
winning speeches.
