Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from grapes, generally Vitis vinifera, fermented without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes, water, or other nutrients. Yeast consumes the sugar in the grapes and converts it to ethanol and carbon dioxide.
2. DEFINITION
Wine is defined as
*Juice of freshly gathered grapes,
*The fermentation of which has been carried out
in the district of origin
*The local tradition and customs.
*Similarly from the definition it can be
understood that wines made from canned
grapes, tinned grapes or grape pulp cannot be
called as wine as well.
4. RED WINE
Red wine is a type
of wine made from
dark-colored
(black) grape varieties.
The actual color of the
wine can range from
intense violet, typical
of young wines,
through to brick red
for mature wines and
brown for older red
wines.
5. WHITE WINE
White wine is
a wine whose colour
can be straw-yellow,
yellow-green, or
yellow-gold. It is
produced by
the alcoholic
fermentation of the
non-coloured pulp of
grapes, which may
have a skin of any
colour. White wine has
existed for at least
2500 years
7. SHERRY
Sherry is a fortified wine made from
white grapes that are grown near the town
of Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia, Spain.
Sherry is produced in a variety of styles made
primarily from the Palomino grape, ranging
from light versions similar to white table wines,
such as Manzanilla and Fino.
10. CIDER
• Cider is an alcoholic beverage made from
the fermented juice of apples.
• The juice of any variety of apple can be used
to make cider, but cider apples are best. The
addition of sugar or extra fruit before a second
fermentation increases the alcoholic content
of the resulting beverage .

13. STILL WINE
Still wine is a type of table wine that is absent
of any carbon dioxide which is what makes
them still, not bubbly, sparkling or fizzy.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a part of the
fermentation process and is released when
yeast and sugar mix, so all wines at one point
in their development have bubbles present.
14. SPARKLING WINE
• Sparkling wine is a wine with significant levels
of carbon dioxide in it, making it fizzy. The
best known example of a sparkling wine
is champagne, which is exclusively produced
in the Champagne region of France.
15. FORTIFIED WINE
• A fortified wine is a wine that is "fortified"
with additional alcohol that's been added to
the base wine during fermentation, bringing
the average alcohol content up around 17-
20%. Fortified wines can be made in either dry
or sweet style .
• The most common types of fortified wines
are Port, Sherry, Marsala, and Madeira.
16. SWEET/DESSERT WINE
A dessert wine is defined as a sweet, high-
alcohol wine that features concentrated
flavors . Dessert wines can be made with
grapes that have a high sugar level at harvest,
or they can be made through adding sugar
during the winemaking process, a process
known as chaptalization . Dessert wines are
typically paired with foods that are less sweet
than the wine, or they can be enjoyed on the
own.
