Windows 8 introduces a new Metro interface with live tiles, optimized for touchscreens. It features an app store for discovering and updating apps across devices. The cloud-connected OS works across PCs, tablets, and other devices. Microsoft's Surface tablets are designed specifically for Windows 8. The new OS will be available in October 2012 for $40 or less as an upgrade.
