William Shakespeare (1564-1616) was an English poet and playwright considered the greatest writer in the English language. He married Anne Hathaway in 1582 and they had three children together, though their son Hamnet died in 1596 at age 11. When Shakespeare died, he was buried at Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon with an epitaph warning against moving his bones. Shakespeare wrote comedies, tragedies, and history plays, some of his most famous works including Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
